1.
So even the fleas are finding stuff in their uncles attic now? Mind you, i think it's actually a MIM 70's reissue.
Yeah, I though perhaps Mex re issue. Decent shots of the headstock, front and back, might have helped. Thing is, being altruistic, there is a chance the guy is selling it short. If I do get to see it (no reply yet) will ask if he minds me taking the neck , control panel off, and taking pictures. One can but ask, and I've been "nutted" before today! Karl.
2.
Sorry if you're already onto this listing but it caught my eye. Made around the time I was born and save for the white scratchplate, it looks exactly like the bass I've been trying to replace for the last ten years... and I ain't got the money to bid on it. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Jazz-Bass-Gui...=item335a0eef31 The seller seems very unsure as to what they're selling, but if it's genuine and in good nick, you'd hope he gets his £300 back.
I live about 10 miles away and have e mailed him this morning to ask if I can go over to see it. The serial plate nowadays is all to easy to buy off ebay, could be a newish Mex reissue, although it does superficially look genuine. From those photo's, I would expect to see at least yellowing of the headstock. If I get to see it my next task would be to convince him to let me loose with a couple of different sized Phillip's! I will let you know.
3. Was sold for £580. Now back on the bay at BIN of £775.
4.
Indeed, photography is dear to my heart and it is full of forum members discussing the merits of digital over film , films dead ? shall I go for 14 MP over my my 12 MP camera ? Full frame or 4/3 format, blah blah blah blah blah. I use 35mm and medium format film cameras, compact and DSLR digital cameras, horses for course non are worse or better than the other, I just take photographs with them. I am beginning to think the bass fraternity is exactly the same. There are those who have have to justify and push their decisions on equipment on others and those who just play the damm things through whatever they like. As I said previously a simple Line 6 GX with POD Farm and a laptop is an amazing tool that I use alot. Conversely I love playing straight through a simple practice amp be it valve or tranny or IC. Shouldn't we just celebrate all this wonderful gear rather than tell each other we are wrong ? And yes Jaco was a bit of an arrogant twat but then it seems to be a trait of genius ?
If I was a millionth as good as Jaco, I would be an arrogant t**t.
5. Too good to be true? Yes.
6. Uncool. Up against a wall. Uzi 9mm.
7. Lighten that load dude. Gas for small but scary moderm neo wotsit's and a small. lightweight. powerful head.
8.
Quite, and the Jazz bass you were referring to?
Smutty. Stop that at once my lad.
9.
I have this bass but a bit more battered and CAR. I've never seen another one. Bump for an awesome, rare jazz and a good price. Where did you get the plate from? I want a red tortie for mine
Sorry to hijack, but Aurora Projects will do you a tortie plate. They did a beaut for my Geddy.
10. Many thanks. I'm struggling to get a Daryl Jones 4, the only one on here sadly has a drop d tuner thingy and I wouldn't know where to start to get rid of that. Enjoy the Gibbo.
11. Funny how every bass I really lust after goes when I am out pretending to work. This went in about an hour last time. By the way is this the reissue with the slightly slimmer neck (40mm rather tham 42 ?) I know it's unlikely but if it doesn't go ahead please give me a shout Clarky. Pretty please. Cheers, Karl.
12. Well done sir. Sadly I am still humnming/hahing about maple. Faint heart and fair maidens. Enjoy your new baby! Cheers, Karl.
13.
I must have weird tastes in basses. The dearest bass I've bought was the epi T-bird at £270 despite playing every bass in the shop it was the only one I liked including fenders, 'rays and warwicks. Was out looking on Saturday played a real lovely looking squire jazz, natural finish, block inlays loved the look hated the feel. None of the expensive stuff tickled the eyeballs. The only bass I was tempted to buy was the Epi EB-0 from the starter pack. So tempted to order one online without the pack for a wallet busting £130. I can't imagine paying £900 for a bass mainly because I've seen one I liked !!!
It's all subjective, I had a T bird once, loved the sound, loved the look, hated the feel especially the neck dive. I am paying £900 as I have just sold my 1974 Jazz after 22 years of ownership. It got too valuable to gig. This next bass will probably be the last I buy, so £900 over probably 15 years more playing before retirement (if God spares me) doesn't work out that much ( a lttle over £1 /week).
14. I've got a van guys.
15. They still have the bass of my dreams in at this moment, and I still have my £900. They are some fantastic basses in Bass Chat at this moment, but none of them are exactly what my heart desires, sad but true. I will eventually weaken and find they sold it an hour before! That's because I am a pillock.
16. Hello Jim, just wondering did you replace that drop D tuner gizmo ? Cheers, Karl.
17.
.....Hhhmmmnnn....now THERE'S a thought.....
10%. (I'm cheap).
18.
Nice try but the DJ4 is a keeper for the time being sorry!!
Thanks Dave and good luck.
19.
Ricky, Butchered??
That's why I come on here!
20. Sorry to sidestep, but would you think of selling your Daryl Jones, especially if it's a 4? Again, apologies, but a man has to try! Good luck, Karl. Oh, err, bump.
21.
Wonder if he kept the GL body? muse/ Don't like it if I'm honest. :snob:
My missus always said I had crap taste. She didn't think that through really, did she.
22. Thanks for technical services rendered Dandelion. Also to you other guys . It certainly opens up a field of thought. Wonder if the pick ups are Geddies.
23. Sorry folks, don't know how to post a link. Anybody looking for a Geddy might want to have a look at the hybrid on ebay, it's blue and should come with a lust warning.
24.
so now they keep several million payments on hold for 3 weeks or until positive feedback is left and make a quite a few extra squid for themselves in interest payments, sweet.
Absol***INGlutely bang spot on. At least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask! It really is time the Monopolies Commission took a look at these. I got screwed for £70 fees last year on a £45O sale. Grrrrr.
25. Sorry if I've missed it, but have you sold the book and film rights to this thread yet?
