Morning tea spilt. Thanks Karl haha!
Thank you Adam, made my day worthwhile. Hope all going well on your road to stardom. Jealous, moi?
Have you tried to post one to Germany? £8 including the packaging costs on an item often 3/4 of the price anywhere else seams fair to me, there is obviously a cut of point, plectrums and small items won't be worth it but for anything larger I've never seen lower prices and bigger purchases are free postage, my Stagg was £299 with free postage yet my local shop has to pay £369 to get then in before adding their cut, my double bass strings were £135 at thomann £150 everywhere else.
Agree with much you say, however, they do have some purchasing power with their couriers for obvious reasons. The point I was trying to make is if I wanted a £180 bass, it would cost me the same for delivery as something that would come in a small jiffy bag (no comments discreet thank you ). So for something small, that is in fact quite a lot cheaper, it makes little sense when I can get the same thing from the UK, higher price, cheaper postage, no currency waffling about. Time to leave Mr TBird alone, enough perhaps? MrPete1977, is that the Button Moon just down the road from Highley, where I will be all next week?
"What am I missing please?" Royal Mail charge a flat £8 fee for processing customs cleared mail from the US (on top of VAT and duty)
Sorry, musta been typing. That answers that. So, I was right, I'm no better off really. Hey ho. Many thanks guys. Anybody got a second hand Fender American Deluxe bass bridge
Ah I see I was assuming it had 5 at the rear and two at the top

You might get hit with a handling charge, which could wipe out your £13.
Thanks WOT, I had a feeling I was missing something. Isn't it something like the Post Office handling charge, as well as VAT and import duties?

One of the reasons I won't order from Thomann. 10 Euro postage on a bass bridge weighing what, 30/40 g? It's a bass bridge, not the bloody Tyne bridge

Not sure where to put this but I would guess some of you guys who do wondrous mods have faced similar head scratching moments.. I am looking to replace a Fender 50's style, 2 barrel, 7 hole, string through/top mount bridge. The only one that seems to be a drop in replacement is the American Deluxe bass bridge. In the UK, strings Direct are £51 delivered. Thomann are £50 delivered. One of the US suppliers are linked below. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291163525963?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 So by my reckoning, that US supplier, even adding 25% for customs and VAT charges, works out at about £37. Admittedly I will have to wait longer, but I'm not in a hurry. I would only be saving about £13, but that's almost one third saving against the US dealers price. And it's two thirds the price of a new set of Status Premier strings What am I missing please?

Jack, very interested, but couple of questions please. Thought these were all active, yet this looks to be passive? Is that how it was made, custom order? What is the nut width please as I believed these were standard jazz, but P nut width available as an option. I had James Stelfox's (Starsailor) and should never have sold it . Cheers, Karl.

Having said there are timewasters here, some of the retailers should step forward and claim their own fame on the timewasters front. The Bass Gallery. Still showing my old SEI P/J as for sale on their website, right now. It was sold last week, after I had emailed them about it. Gutted. Mind they did eventually respond (phone message left) 4 days after my initial email . Reidy's of Blackburn. Still had the Bongo up for sale on FEEBay last night. They sold it to a cash customer last week. Timewasters all over sadly, but you just don't go back to them.

Guess if you are selling it's just one of the hoops you have to go through. I've also had more than one that has messed me about but what can you do, you can't force folk. Mind, the last great act of defiance is always muttered obscenities
Ah ok mate! Saw that, it looks abit beaten in the Sapphire Black if I'm not mistaken, still, all round sweet basses. Your welcome to come try before you buy man, but I'm sure I'm a way off from ya
Yup, closer to try their's so if I hate it at least I haven't done a 200 mile + round trip. Not sure if it's a bit beaten or it's reflected light, they state "great condition" but one man's great condition is anothers road worn.
