  1. That is a really really nice colour
  2. If this is still available this time next week pm me and I will have it
  3. Well having done a few years on the metal scene, which is home to some of the most talentless bobbins in the world (almost on a par with indie), I would actually prefer to listen to a bad covers band. That is mainly because I haven't been exposed to that many bad covers bands and at least if they aren't playing that well, they may be playing a tune i like so I can draw some kind of satisfaction. I blame all the crap bands I have played with for the amount of time I have spent stoned off my box on stage. S**t band comes on......bugger this I am going to sit inthe car and have a smoke or two. Come back for the next band.....oh they sound like a bag of dead cats too.....outside we go again......vicious circle
  4. Oh I know some of you guys have to wait months and all for your Seis, Shukers, ACGs and so on, but I am sadly the type of guy who really hates waiting. I know patience is a virtue and all that but it isn't one I have Also I cant wait to hear how it will sound through my new Trace! I have dropped Holger @ Sandberg an email to see if he can help me out in some way as compensation for the absolute horse s**t treatment I received from Synergy Distribution whilst being an endorsee They actually have the Cali JM5 Supreme in blueburst in stock at Thomann, but I much prefer the look of the blank maple board to the rosewood and block inlay jobby. And yes ash, blueburst is such a great colour. Blueburst stingray with maple is one of the sexiest things ever
  5. Yes Si I would agree with that And I aint tried a Cali 5 but I used to own a 4. Getting rid of it was the biggest mistake I ever made.
  6. It almost brings me to tears just thinking about having to wait that long!!!
  7. I had a Sandberg. It was very very well built, almost played itself it was that slick and the pickups (Delanos) were absolutely wicked. I cannot recommend them enough and am currently trying to sort out going back to Sandberg!
  8. Well I have just contacted Thomann about a gorgeous looking Sandberg, looks like I will have to wait at least 8 weeks!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
  9. 24, been playing 4 years. Currently playing a 4 string ray, but a while back I sold on my Sandberg, mainly out of frustration with the b******s at Synergy Distribution. Turns out I shouldn't have. I miss it like crazy and I am getting another!!! As for my playing style, I have plied most of my trade as a metal bassist. Not your average gain based thudding root note gubbins. I mix it up as much as I can and use a bit of tapping and a bit of slap where I feel it works best. Totally worship James Leach - he manages to perfectly compliment Dan and Pin's crazy widdling in Sikth and finds perfect places to have his own moments (nice tapping piece in As The Earth Spins Around and Wait For Something Wild) so I kinda emulate his style ever so slightly and I guess I have a similar thing going on to Martin Mendez (Opeth) as well. When the guitars are doing something simple and heavy, I go with them to fatten up the sound and then when something more melodic or quirky fits, I do a bit of showing off
  10. Well people here seem to be determined to make comparisons to Shuker. That wasn't the question posed in the thread title. My honest opinion of Shukers is mixed. I went to see Jon and tried a few of his basses. No doubt he is a knowledgeable guy and his skills are there for all to see in the beautiful instruments he produces, but all the Shukers I tried felt a little flimsy to me. I also tried a 4 string which I think is on his website which he built for a guitar show in Frankfurt and when I plugged it in, it was very lifeless. One of the 5's he has on his webbie was an utter monster on the other hand. As for Sei, I haven't been lucky enough to try one. The Original 5 is possibly the most gorgeous looking bass I can think of. However I was having a little myspace discussion with James Leach of Sikth. At the time I had a Status and he told me I would gain nothing by offloading the Status for a Sei. If James Leach says don't bother getting a Sei, I wont. Also I have seen his konk out on his on stage at 2 different gigs and he stuck to his Mcintyre. I have to be honest, I don't think Sei basses are worth it before the 20% price hike, never mind with it! I know I haven't played one, but I have heard them in gig situations, seen them die on stage, heard plenty of feedback from others and also there is a year wait. No thanks. Also - compare how many Sei's crop up on the FS section compared with Shukers.......
  11. Heres a pic of the Sandberg.....I miss you baby *sniff sniff* And here we are on the deck for some reason :S I really like this pic!!
  12. This thread is for those of us who are still mourning over basses we stupidly offloaded. Me personally - I miss my Sandberg. In fact I miss it so much I think I might actually cry. Or I might just buy a new one :D
  13. I am absolutely gutted right now that this bass is not a Cali JM
  14. Gorgeous bass mate.
  15. This is not included......
  16. And this one has the lil chip in it.....
  17. Only two pics I have to hand.....and not great ones at that. Will try and sort something out for some better ones
  18. I dont think he is too keen on stingrays crazy fool.....
  19. He is after buying an aerodyne jazz, but I can't help but feeling he will get better for his money. I told him I am willing to drive him somewhere nearby at weekend like Manchester or Sheffield (I live in buxton), so does anyone know of any good deals to be had for £600? I am pretty sure he wants to stick to the Fender route or something similar. Any ideas welcome
  20. I concur from a 100% impartial viewpoint
  21. Sunburst, maple fretboard, 3 eq, 4 string ray for sale. In excellent condition. Has one slight ding on the back which has removed a lil bit of the finish but its nothing serious. Looking for £600 no less to buy Ped's Bacchus or trades for a 5 string. Pics will follow but you all know what a sunburst stingray looks like and you all know what a maple fretboard looks like. x
  22. Maybe the person who owned this bass had hands made of sand? And wasn't Teenage GAS a song by The Undertones?
  23. Veils

    ESP/LTD

I love the geetars. I'm big into the Steph Carpenter models and they play really really nice. Not so keen on the basses though.
  24. I am seriously considering picking meself up a HB of some kind to have as a backup......
  25. BO without a shadow of a doubt.
