I very nearly bought a DJ4 today and have now decided I would quite like to get me one. I have been in touch with Bass Central and they have quoted me a price of $1189 for a 4 string (they claim RRP is $1699) and $1329.00 for a 5 ($1899 RRP). I am trying to spend less than £750 if possible which means these seem like great prices. They have also quoted me about $295 for shipping. What is the likelihood I am going to get stung on customs and how much is it likely to be? I know little about these things. I remember me and a mate ordered hoodies from the states, mine got checked, his didn't and I remember being narked about how much I had to pay!! I checked the importing thread but there wasn't much about the States, mainly Ishibashi.....

I went to Crete a few years ago and loved it. I prefer the quieter west side of the island. Definitely recommend having a nosy about the Ida Mountains. If you are feeling brave there is Somaria Gorge It will be pretty dam hot now but at this time of the year, the sea will be at a really nice temperature to swim in. Bring on the souvlaki YUM YUM YUM!!! Oh and don't worry about your stand in. If you tell me where he is playing I will go and poke him in the eye or something Nah seriously - it would take a band who aren't worth your time to sack you while you are on holiday for their former bassist. You have nothing to worry about buddy.

Moondance is a wicked tune. I learnt it a while ago but have forgotten it since! Think I shall yoink this tab as well!

Right I posted about this bass on the Bass guitars section. I was initally interested in buying it and managed to haggle the guy down from his asking price of 700 to 600. Now I have found a Lakky that I intend to buy so if anyone wants this bass, please let me know before the auction runs out and I will arrange for it to be done so he doesn't get suspicious that I am arranging the deal for someone else - I doubt he would care as apparently he is a dealer and just wants the money, but you never know..... Here it is.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=012

It is a nice looking bass and I am tempted by it but I would like to know a bit more first, especially what they go for new.....I tried looking for new ones and I am getting a bit confused by the whole "Tribute" thing.....
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Warwick-Streamer-Sta...1QQcmdZViewItem
This is a good thread I reckon. I have often wondered myself and the bass in question^^ I was pipped by a tenner with a last minute bid. I thought at that price, even if there is a big difference between these and the pre mec ones (that is where I wanna know if there is a difference) I thought at £550 it was a steal and I wouldn't lose any cash on it! If anyone here has had a range of SS1's I would also like to know if there is a big difference! I have played quite a lot of Warwick's and being 100% honest, they were like a holy grail when I didn't have a great bass knowledge (we all start somewhere ). I sold a white Sub to get a Corvette $$. I actually ended up with the first Streamer $$ in the UK which is still dam expensive for what it is and while it was ok, it wasn't "all that". I have heard some Warwicks (new and old) sounding beautiful, but most of the new Warwicks I have played have been pretty terrible. I then moved onto a Sandberg after the Streamer and Delano really does hump MEC which has made me think going back to a Warwick is a real downward step......

who plays guitar and was there a transition to bass?
Veils replied to john_the_bass's topic in General Discussion
I used to play the Oboe in an orchestra then went to playing drums, moved onto guitar (I always wanted to do that originally because I thought Graham Coxon was cool), then went onto bass when I started filling in for another band and found it a lot more fun. I still have some wicked guitar gear at my house thanks to my previous bands guitarist. I have in my possession a PRS CU22 Artist jobby, a Blackmachine B2, my lil bro plays guitar and has his kicking about, there is a Takamine acoustic and a beasty Framus Dragon half stack. I do enjoy having a bit of a thrash on a guitar and I am quite a gear freak as well. Also I filled in with 24 hours notice for my friends band last weekend -
Anyone else p'd off with Chilis at Hampden last thursday?
Veils replied to Delberthot's topic in General Discussion
They wrote one or two decent tunes and I reckon JF and Flea can play pretty well (JF is also a better vocalist), but I don't see why there is such a big deal about the chillis. Also, I cant take any band seriously that has had Dave Navarro in its ranks at any point. -
The last time I was in Sound Control Salford, I asked to have a bash on a Warwick 10.1 Hardcoremegafest thingy and they plugged in 3 heads in succession all of which blew up the minute I played a note. Someone plug in one of the 4 string stingrays (I think it was blue) and see if it is cursed......... Oh and as for Heald Green, I believe they have some Sandbergs and Clovers in now if that takes your fancy at all, but as Mr Homer says they have mainly markbass amps. If you are partial to a nice guitar then it is worth visiting too. I'm guilty on that one!

Clearly your inlays are inside out and I would recommend the only way to correct this issue is to deliver said bass to me. Also when it is the right time of year, birds get confused and fly the wrong way, so the sun has to set a different way so that birds don't crash into it. If that happened it would be raining millions of birds and all the resulting feathers which are scattered about would drastically effect climate, ruin the global economy, anarchy would ensue and the streets would be filled with crazy little men in capes and pointy black hats. Think yourselves lucky.

Now I'm not sure if my ears were out of tune, but listening to them on the highlights of Reading this weekend, I have to say the Chilli's were absolutely atrocious. They were very flat and lifeless, Antony's voice has completely gone (could he ever sing live?) and to top it all off they had someone with a floppy fringe skulking at the back of the stage playing guitar. I aint a big fan of theirs, but I appreciate what they have done for music and I also appreciate why they have so many fans, but come on, they were awful at Reading!
