As for not having pics, I will try get some asap. The amp is currently at my mummys house and I won't see it until next week some time. If anyone should happen to have an Ibanez AS83/93 and wanted to trade, please let me know. And before anyone makes any comments about my choice of guitars, yes I know what I am buying -
It is pretty heavy. Sadly £1.50 isn't quite going to be enough, unless Fisher Price have started making some cock hot guitars?

Sadly not man Since my previous band broke up it totally took the wind out of my sails. I am in the process of getting another band together which is going to be pretty good if it comes off but it is all in the balance. However, I have been working with another group of friends on something which is a bit more like what I have always wanted to do, but I will be guitaring. I have written loads of stuff which I am really chuffed with, so it is looking like I will be guitaring for the time being!

I traded this with Wildus a lil while back and if you see my post for my DJ4, you will see the only reason I am offloading is I am pretty much giving up playing. This is a pretty rare beast. 4x8 combo with valve preamp, 3 band rotary eq, deep and bright switches, gain and DI. I asked Trace for more info on it and they couldn't really help so I do not know much about the amp. It's incredibly punchy sounding and has a very individual sound. Cash offers or trade offers for good guitar gear - 6 strings or valve amps (preferably combo).

Black, maple board. Very good condition - I bought it off here a month or so back but I am not really doing much musicwise at the mo. Will accept cash offers or trades for guitar gear - only decent stuff though. Valve combos or good 6 stringers. Everyone here must have a few lil widdles that they always play on a bass. Maybe it's what you sound check with? Maybe it's what you play when you are trying a bass in a shop? Whatever it is, everyone has a few of their favourite noodles. Tab them or record them and we can all exchange cool lil noodles!! I shall stick mine up here this evenin!

At the end of the day people who don't want them, wont buy them. If they keep churning them out and people stop buying, then the production will decrease. If you ask me, EB should bring back the blueburst finish If they did I think I would ask them to finish my house, car, dog and maybe even my testicles in blueburst. -
As for the strings, my advice would be to just try as many different types as you can. Everyone has their recommendations, but this doesn't mean they will suit you. Bass_ferret - I think it's maybe a lil harsh to call someone a dumb f***, just because they didn't go hunting through posts to find the info they required. The whole point of a forum like this is to seek the advice of others. You could have just pointed out in a much milder way that there was information on another thread and I reckon it would have been warmly received. Go take a cold shower and pull the stick out of your arse.

I think with tapping it is more to do with the action of your instrument. Obviously with lighter strings, it gets easier. If I were you I would get light strings and once you are able to tap some nice melodies out and get all the notes sounding crisp and clear, maybe try it with some heavier strings to get a bit more beef to your tone.....

Aye I am aware that spalted and burl tops are tricky to work with. But we all know that Jon is a demi-god! I would just head to his workshop and pick something but I am probably not going to get the time to do it which really sucks. It is more likely I am going to have to post the bass to him or ask a mate to drop it off for me

Yeah I quite fancied the white DJ4 which someone was selling just before I went for this one. Spoke with Jon and he says a lot will depend on what he finds underneath when he strips the finish off. I do like buckeye burl a lot. Only problem being that it is becoming a lot more common. I might go for some kind of spalted top maybe? I really don't know

Howdoo people I am sending my newly acquired Lakland DJ4 to Lord Jon of Shuker to have a refinish. Basically I am not a big fan of black finishes and this bass has one of the nicest necks and maple fretboards I have had the pleasure of playing, but just to give it that added wow factor, I wanna get the black stripped off and either a nice finish or a top putting on it. Anyone got any bright ideas? I'm not much kop when it comes to artistic visualisation
