1. Don't suppose an Ampeg cab is any use to you??
2. 4-5 weeks away I have just asked Jon to send me some pics tonight if he can. I think he hasn't bothered to send me any so far because I literally live 10 mins drive from his workshop so I can nip and see him any time. Tony - I would recommend just saving hard for it. I didn't pay all mine off in one go, in fact I still have 300 left to pay, but Jon was more than happy for me to give him a deposit to start the build and just keep dropping him chunks of cash off whenever I was able to. And as I am sure many people will tell you, Jon is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He is so accommodating and prepared to listen to your suggestions as well as offer his own expert opinion. And if you have never played one of his basses you really are missing out. With the exception of a Fodera I played a while back, nothing I have picked up comes anywhere close to the sheer playability of a Shuker and they sound absolutely incredible as well. Totally worth every penny and I couldn't recommend him enough! Come on Shuker owners, back me up on this one and all post pics of your yummy Shukers to convince Tony to get one hahahaha
3. 225 anyone?
4. Oh my legs! That wouldn't just be an investments for me, I'd happily gig that it's gorgeous!!!
5. Also, I have already spec'd out another bass with Jon. Going for a 4 string jazz, similar kinda spec as this one, but it is going to have a crazy paint job of some kind, I just haven't worked out exactly what yet
6. I believe at the moment, the neck is done, the wings are done and top is on, I believe the board has been planed but I don't know if it is fretted or not. It is getting pretty close now, I believe about 4 or 5 weeks away. I will get pics up here as soon as I have them
7. Ampeg B410 HLF 4 ohm cab for sale. Very good condition, it has just been sat about doing nothing for almost a year! Never been gigged niether! Cash price £275, will consider offers for pedals in particular, Toadworks, MXR, EH. I am really looking for a Sansamp BDDI and a bit of cash but failing that, I want envelope filters (good ones), maybe a phaser or some interesting modulation or really saturated fuzz or distortion like an MXR Blowtorch
8. That is absolutely brilliant mate! Lovin the pic of Ruby! Such a cool dog! Everytime I go there with my mate who enjoys coming along for the ride, he absolutely bricks it because he isn't fond of big dogs! As for the course, I'd really love to try my hand on it. I am, by my own admission, absolutely feckin useless at stuff like that, so if Jon could help me make a good bass, then he really is a God among men! To be fair he isn't far off that already
9. I'd agree with you totally buddy. I think black hardware looks much better and for some reason, chrome on a Wick does give it a cheap and tacky feel.
10.
They're too expensive
That much is true. I have found that the quality can be a bit variable, but they are generally pretty nice instruments. I now own a nirvana black oil 2007 Streamer Stage I 5 string, and oh boy does it play like butter and it sounds fantastic However, it is going to have a Shuker to compete with soon, so we will see how it holds up!
11. I sold my Streamer $$ for £600.
12. I don't look nerdy!!! Or do I?
13. How about £200?
14. Rawwrrr! My band is called Veils. www.myspace.com/veilsband We are a 5 piece tech metal band from Manchester with a few twinges of death metal and a bit of an old skool vibe thrown in for good measure! Here is a live review by Sonic Dice of our first ever show supporting As I Lay Dying VEILS W/ AS I LAY DYING - CAMBRIDGE BARFLY 24/05/2008 Veils are first-up and are immediately confronted with a venue that's at capacity. Seems the world and his wife want to hang around for this Manchester quartet of metal-heads and they are duly rewarded. They play rapid, death metal with elements of thrash and hardcore thrown in for good measure and have quite an impact as a mosh kicks off instantaneously. A few idiots start running across the circle pit before launching themselves into any unsuspecting crowd members - inadvisable in such a tight venue - it's not long before a bouncer moves in to stop a punch-up breaking out. The lead vocalist is keen for more and he looms over the barrier with one hand on the low roof, supporting himself, screaming encouragement. "I want to see more of this dancing. It's f***ing mint!", he yells, before proudly announcing new track 'A Resistance To Exist'. It's like listening to the end of the world - a mixture of booming double-kick, cascading tom rolls, tightly-coiled guitars and brutal, roared vocals. They pause to launch a few CDs into the crowd before assaulting us again. There are a couple of tracks up on the myspace, hopefully our EP will be out soon depending on current negotiations........
15. I used to tune ADADG which always caused confusion for anyone borrowing my bass for a quick play I also used to play about with open tunings on my acoustic guitar quite a lot, so once my Shuker arrives I am considering leaving my Warwick in an open tuning for some chordal shennanigans!
16. I have a few which I would put under the dream bass category. First love has always been Warwick Streamer Stage I 5 string, which thanks to a friend of mine who I am sure used to post on here, I am pretty much now the owner. And an absolute beauty it is as well - 2007 nirvana black oil. Secondly, I have a bass on the way from Jon Shuker. 5 string thru neck, white ash body, maple neck, serpentwood fretboard, asian striped ebony top, delano bucker and jazz pups, shuker circuit, blue side led's.....YUMMY! After that, I would kill for another blackburst Sandberg California JM4, a teal and a blueburst stingray with birdseye maple board and a Sei Original 5. So 2 down, 3 to go
17. bumpy
18. Always been curious about PRS basses..... I am a huge fan of their guitars. My friend has a CU22 Artist and it is the nicest playing guitar I have ever picked up. One of the guitarists in my band is using a CU22 which is gorgeous, our other guitarist used to use a Jonny Hiland signature and is in the market for another PRS now. However having never heard a PRS bass or even seen one in the flesh they are a rather unknown quantity......
19. I believe this amp does work in other rooms as well as bedrooms, but don't quote me on that..... Seriously though, I haven't ever gigged it while I have had it, it has been used in practice but that's about it
20. Get a Stannah Stairlift
21. Marshall VBA 400
22. I know this isn't a helpful answer, but I really dont see past Jon Shuker!! His basses are affordable and play like butter!! Also he has one or two stock models at the moment and I believe he is working on more
23. Here is my Trace again this time with pics! If you want it, £250 is the price. Could do with being picked up from Ancoats, Manchester but I will courier it at the buyers cost =)
