1. Delano ftw
2. It's well worth it. His basses are absolutely brilliant. I was offered endorsements through Warwick and Spector with 50% discounts and to me, it still made more sense to get Jon to build mine. There is the luxury of having the time to wait to save the cash and not to mention the fact that the bass is built totally to your spec. When you add to that the fact that his work is second to nothing that I personally have comapred it to, it's a no brainer. Also Jon is an absolutely top bloke and totally helpful and isn't afraid to take on a challenge. For instance he informed me that he had never done an LED backlit headstock before, but was more than happy to do it on mine. Seriously, if you are thinking about going with Jon, either go to his workshop or contact someone in your area to arrange to have a play. It's well worth your time
3. As it happens I am going to go and speak to him about the whole shebang this weekend. I am going back to Buxton with my mate for his birthday outing and his workshop is a pretty lil drive away so I will talk with Jon and Rob if he is there? He hasn't been on my last few visits - in fact I haven't seen him since the day Jon moved workshops! I am aware he had a rather nasty ankle break? I quite like the idea of having one for a really nice upright style tone because I think it would sit really well with the acoustic stuff I am writing in the other band Also - I have asked Jon in an email but i assume he must have just skipped over it and forgot to answer - but does he build acoustic guitars? The lad I am playing with has a really nice Larrivee but I have finally talked him round to asking Jon to build him something and he wants a plush acoustic
4. Well I am in a heavy band, but my own playing style is a million miles from that really. I have started up another band recently which is more along recent Incubus type vibe, but a lot of the songs we are writing now are going to be acoustic pieces, so I figured an acoustic bass would be really good to have. I can still use my new arrival for gigging until I fancy moving onto a jazz. But we're trying to keep our options open to have a fully acoustic set and a fully electric set for the other band.
5. I am going to be getting Jon to be build me either an Artist or a jazz, but I have never played one of his artists, I suspect he won't have one in stock and I don't know of anyone who has one! Anyone who does own one - what are your thoughts?
6. Right I have an email from Jon this morning. It says that the bass just needs the hardware adding and we are finished. I am hoping that this can be done for the weekend when I am in the area, but soon as it is done I will have pics up here and hopefully some sound clips of me pretending I can play it

Feedback for Veils

Hahaha no worries on that one mate, I offered because I thought I was the one in the wrong =) Might I also add that Stag is a top gent!!!! And I am still seeking out those feet dude
8. My mates PRS CU22 is the best guitar I have ever played. That is one gorgeous guitar and a great price!
9. Ok the absolute lowest I can drop is £700 for cash, but I would like something added to bump up the value of the deal such as a combo amp (obviously nothing special required) or maybe a pedal or two. Otherwise the outright cash price of £900 ono still stands. If anyone fancies it drop me a pm
10. Because if I tune a full step, then I can't hit the same open notes which is fairly necesary for me - I am sure you are aware having played with Chris yourself, he doesn't really believe in keeping things simple and letting the bass groove and believe me he really has stepped things up a notch in between TMWF and Veils
11. We're currently tuned to drop Bb, they are proposing tuning drop C, which will mean either tuning GCGCF (too low) or CGCFA in which case I won't use the A so having small hands I may as well get something I can play better. I'm speccing another bass out with Jon as well! And yes, drop Bb is silly tuning, which is why the guys wanna tune up a bit more. But to add further complications, Chris has started writing with a 7 string
12. HERE ARE THE PICS!!!!! Apologies for the less than impressive quality, that's down to the fact I don't own a camera and was relying on my iphone!!
13. I did just attempt to add this pic, not sure it worked.....
14. Where in Manc are you? I'm in Ancoats and wouldn't mind having a look at this.....
15. Pics will defo be coming this weekend. The bass is currently residing in our rehearsal room so I will pick it up this evening and get some pictures taken! It's a beauty!
16. Wow! That is one of the nicest looking basses I have seen from Jon. Absolutely gorgeous!
17. Oh as for string spacing I believe it's standard? And no idea how dave keeps them vocals up, he does struggle sometimes at the end of the set though.
18. Heyyyyy Not totally sure on cash really! I'll think it over! Can u get pics of the ray? I'll sort pix of the wick asap it's been tricky since I don't own a camera!
19. Bump for this bad boy Would also consider a stingray & cash.
20. A vote for Wolverhampton is a vote for evil.
21. For me, Alex James and James Leech are my biggest inspirations. I know they aren't technically astounding, but that doesn't matter.
22.
You are good, you play how I want to, but I'm too slow. Do you use fingers or pick?
I pick live. I really hate the fact that I have to pick, it's not the fact that I can't use my fingers fast enough to play Veils tunes, it's the fact that I can't play loud enough when competing with Chris's and Nick's guitars. Using the pick gives me that extra attack and clarity. For my other band, it's fingers all the way because I am actually playing how I want to!
