1. Would consider trades for a Stingray/Sterling/Sub with maple neck with possible cash your way depending on the bass.
2. Got this in a trade with H the Bass last autumn, as this is a rare bass the only information I have about it is from H; Hand built by Gordon WHITHAM of Gordon SMITH guitars in 1982 in excellent condition, low action all original, pick ups and hardware by Schaller. From cutting to Thunderous,it has passive pick ups but an active tone control fitted by Nik Kershaws guitar tech. It is in great condition, there is some very light buckle rash but apart from that looks like new. I bought it as it was a bit out of the ordinary, love looking at it hanging on the wall but it dosnt get played much and as I've aquired another bass today something has to go. As it is so unusual you are welcome to come and have a look with no obligation. *Withdrawn*
3. I bought this bass today from Plumbob planning to swap the necks with a Squier CV. Unfortunately this did not work out - the VMJ neck is a very snug fit and would not have fitted into the neck pocket of the CV without sanding and the neck from the CV would not have fitted tightly enough into the VMJ body without shimming. As I've never tackled either job before I dont want to risk spoiling 2 perfectly good basses so I've decided to leave as they are. Because of this up for sale is a hardly used Fender Squier vintage modified bass strung with flats, nicely set up, comes with gig bag. £180 collected from Gloucester, but if I can sell the other bass I have listed today I will keep it as I really like it. 4. Bought a Squier VMJ from Nigel aka Plumbob today, great bass and very friendly guy to deal with, thanks!
5. Bought a Squier Classic Vibe Bass from Dave, the bass has obviously been very well looked after and the collection went smoothly thanks to good communicatons. Great to deal with and I would not hesitate to buy from again. cheers Simon
6. Sorry, original post now edited to include the fact that they are indeed PAR 56
7. Some lights that will add to the atmosphere of your gig or party. 2 x 4 Light sequencers. Bought 2 years ago from Maplins, sound to light, tough metal casing and hanging bracket, hardly used, as new condition. I have added cable connectors to extend the cable to approx 2m, much more practical than the short leads these come supplied with. I have also modified a tool case to carry these, not a great looking job but keeps them safe. Work well on top the PA or facing in either side of the drum kit for a bit of colour. £30 for the pair collected from Gloucester. Soundlab Venus 2 moonflower effect light. Mini flower effects with a dazzling array of white beams. The product features a three position switch (sound to light, static, constant rotation), white light, hanging and floor standing bracket. Made from metal and finished in yellow. Manufactured March 2008, as new, with original box and carry case - another modified tool box. Ideal for giving some front of house light on the dancefloor. £10 collected from Gloucester. 5 x PAR 56 Can Medium Flood bulbs 300W x 5, as new £35 collected from Gloucester

9. I recently bought a Nemesis NA650 and although working on receipt the next time it was used it had a very distorted sound with little gain, took to an amp tech and although the fault did not recur he found the following which might help anyone else with similar problems; 3 possible dodgy things - the 'Effects Loop' pre- and post-EQ jack sockets on the back have 'break jack' contacts in the signal path, and both seemed very scratchy (the 'pre-' one very much so), so I cleaned them up with lube/contact cleaner. - while generally prodding around, (including flexing the circuit boards!) I disturbed a small connector (there are several!) and just for a moment the signal stopped altogether. It turned out that the connector takes the signal from the pre-amp circuit board to the back panel and to the aforementioned 'Effects loop' jack sockets. Having disturbed it once, I couldn't repeat the problem; Anyhow, I undid the connector and cleaned it before re-assembly. Other things:- - the screws holding one of the output power modules (there are 2 modules) to the baseplate were very loose - it wobbled! I tightened them, and checked everything else. There were quite a lot of loose screws! - I see there is a relay on the pre-amp circuit board; these can give trouble when they get old; however, as the date code suggests this amp was manufactured in 2006, it's probably too soon to be a problem yet, but it might be one day. - the rest of the control pots, switches and sockets seem ok - indeed, quality kit, but let down a bit by the cheapo jack sockets, I reckon. It seems solid now... It seems to working fine now and to his credit the BCer I bought it from covered the cost of the tech.
10. Hi, Not sure if it will be suitable but there is an HH 100W bass combo on ebay, in Cheltenham, finishes this afternoon, currently only £20 (not mine by the way!).
11. Thanks for the interest, I do get to the London area occassionally but dont have anything planned in the near future, I havnt been to Yorkshire since working in Dalby Forest over 20 years ago! I do however have a gig in Bristol on Saturday and dont mind coming a bit further down the M5 if thats any help to anyone.
12. To be fair to the seller its only been used in the front room of the house, if you were serious bass players you would know how important this is when buying a used Shadowsky - and its a beautiful fantastic playing guitar!
13. My first purchase from Bass Chat, and now for sale as its not being used. Prosebass built this 70s style P bass in the style of Paul Simonon's white/maple/Dimarzio for Clarky at the end of 2008. It sounds has a great P bass sound and the vintage Dimarzio pickups are loud! It has a very chunky 50s style P neck, rather than the more slimline jazz necks that I prefer. The body (alder I think) and neck are generic P-bass parts from China. The bridge is similar to a Gotoh and is a heavy-mass after-market piece. None of these are from 'name' suppliers (eg Allparts etc) Before it reached me a F*nder decal had applied but not lacquered over, so could be easily removed. I hope Clarky wont mind me quoting him "Its put together fabulously, with the neatest copper shielding in the control cavity I have ever seen. Plays really well". It is in really good condition apart from two dings on the top of the body caused when I was checking speaker connections at the back of an amp. Currently strung with roundwounds of uncertain origin. I prefer slimmer necks and a Yamaha BB614 I got in a trade has taken over as my back up bass. Unfortunately I have no spare cases so this will have to be collection only from Gloucester. Bought an Eden Nemesis NA650 fro Martin. Very smooth transaction, it arrived as promised very well packaged and in good working order. If you are thinking of buying from him you can do so with confidence. cheers Simon
15. Hi Lee, Thanks for the offer but as they are £400 new, this is a minter (with case!), and I dont need a quick sale I'm not prepared to go quite that low. If it sticks around though I may be in touch, (in laws are in Lancashire (Bolton) but luckliy have a gig most weekends so usually avoid the trip up there). Have a good one in Ciren. Simon
16. Yamaha EMX 512SC, less than 2 years old, gigged twice, no longer used to due change of band (I no longer take care of lead vocals!) 500W/channel @ 4 ohms, can be split between main and monitors, seperate graphic eq for main and monitors. 12 channels, feedback channel location, standby mode to mute instruments when playing background music. 16 digital SPX effects. Speakon and 1/4" jack inputs. Dimensions approx 250cm l, 284cm h, 264cm d, weight approx 10kg. Case was once used for hair products (no not by me, I've had a crew cut since 1983) but could have been made to measure. I used this for bass (DI'd) as well as lead vocals with the guitar and kick drum miked through it as well and background music in the intervals. [s]£200 [/s] sold collected from Gloucester (or can be seen working with the rest of the PA near J14 M5) or delivery for petrol money if possible, would prefer not to post at this stage. 17. Bump for price reduction before it goes on ebay with free listing this weekend.
18. Sorry about the delay in replying, have been on holiday. 115 still available, 210 and head taken, PMs replied to.
19. Sorry to everyone else but this post is a follow up to the previous by Neil. Yamaha EMX 512SC powered mixer. The case; I assume it was used for hair products as I pulled it out of a skip outside a hairdresser that was being refurbished and it smells like a tarts knicker drawer. I had been using as a larder when camping and luckily made the discovery that it was the perfect size for the mixer. I'll be in touch when I know more.
20. Bought a pair of GK 112 neo cabs from Dan, he was very easy to deal with, great comms and an easy meet at his pace. The cabs were in very good condition despite not having any covers so obviously someone who looks after his gear. Thanks again. Simon
21. Our drummer has been forced to move to a smaller house and has asked me to try and sell his Dynamix Powermix 12.2 powered mixer, but I have no idea on what he should ask for it. It is very solid, all steel construction and has a wooden flightcase, all the controls and connections (including power supply) are on the front panel. It is 1200W ( 2 x 600W), has 12 channels and 2 on board digital effects processors with 32 presets in total. I have tested what I can and all seems to be OK and what I cant (or dont understand!) the LEDs are coming on when the feature is selected. Its drawback compared with more modern options is its size, w58 d58 h20 (cm) and weight, I'm guessing 70-80lb and those are without the case. If anyone can give me any advice on what this might be worth that would be great.
22. I have also been thinking about getting a small amp, purely as a backup. I've read all the comments here with interest but pricewise the Ashdown LG 350 is available from Thomann delivered with 3 year guarantee for £165. Thats almost half the price of the next cheapest option new that I could find (LMK 250 £291). For an amp that might never get used and for emergencies when it would be more a case of the show must go on rather than getting the ideal sound looks good value. Does anyone have a good opinion of these and are they a option for anyone looking for a budget solution?
