  1. I've got an old Matsumoku P Bass from late 1970s with ye olde Yamaha BB type tuners with the sleeve around the shaft to adjust the tuner tension. (Does anyone know who used to make these?) They look like this Anyway, these should have a tiny litle C spanner to adjust them with. but hens teeth are probably more common these days. The C spanner would locate in the little holes and you can then tighten or loosen the sleeve up. I couldn't find a satisfactory way to tighten them up without this spanner.... until now I got one of these bulldog clips and took one of the arms off it and then bent it And it can then be fitted into the little holes perfectly and used to tighten and loosen Just the job..... 🙂
  2. There are some fantastic skinny string players too amongst the girls. I saw Nita Strauss with Alice Cooper recently. Wow! She is a fantastic musician!
  3. A good point. Many guitar focused forums are overly "blokey" and downright sexist. I wouldn't be joining discussions on them of I were a girl / woman.
  4. I agree with wood glue (cascamite or titebond). Open the crack a bit and splodge as much as you can in there and then clamp it up. If it fixes a Les Paul neck break it fixes everything!
  5. I saw them at Ally Pally a couple of years ago supporting Halestorm. I think only JJB remains or originals, but still great to see them.
  6. Apparently, when Hank Marvin introduced himself he was often offered a sandwich....
  7. Yeah. Still confused about this need to change your strings. Mine stay there till they break..... 😀
  8. The 59 Les Paul is only going to get comparatively cheaper over time. Of the 600 or so made in 1959, there are only about 3000 remaining. And that number continues to rise...
  9. I'd prob have it if you were in near me in sunny Sussex
  10. Mine pretty close behind yours, bit not Arua Pro II. Prob same instrument though.
  11. Could you route out the back of the neck and install cabon fibre square / rectangular section rods x 2. I understand that they are extremely stiff, so maybe you could clamp the neck dead straight or with slight relief and glue it all up and not need a truss rod. You can then trim off the bits of carbon outside the neck profile and refinish to give you a techy looking neck with dual carbon stiffeners (which it would be)
  12. I think the collective noun should be a "rumble" of Thunders....
  13. Snap-ish Being 6'5" tends to make it look less enormous
  14. My late 70s Kimbara P Bass It had been de-fretted when I bought it. It has since been re-fretted! I really like the look and feel of it, and the headstock shape is nicer than a simple Fender copy.
  15. Guns n Roses at Spurs on Saturday 2nd July. Sound was very poor for first 3 or 4 songs, but got a lot better. Great gig (other than early sound prob). Not a great advert for Spurs stadium as a music venue though...
  16. Feels Like Heaven (Fiction Factory)
  17. I'm off to Guns N Roses at Spurs on 2nd July.... Wooooo!
  18. I've bought an old 70's ish Precision Bass copy. It has the old machine heads that have the adjustable sleeve on them so you can alter the tightness of rotation. The proper tool to tighten it would be a litle C spanner / hook and pin spanner. I can't find anyone that does teeny weeny ones for this. I have currently just tightened with a pair if pliers and rubber protection to the spindle, but it would be nice to find a better / proper tool for it (or I might make one) Any ideas???
  19. "H" ought really to stand for hetrosexual. Then it would be truey inclusive.
  20. At 6'5" an Explorer bass is fine!
  21. I'm 6'5" and have started playing bass because my guitar looked like it was a toy one....
  22. I'm off to Guns and Roses at Spurs at beginning of July. I've heard the Axl Rose even turns up on stage on time too....
