And another... Easy transaction, quick postage and perfect communication! Shep

I use a Moog Ring Modulator on it's slow setting as my Trem. It's the smoothest Trem I've ever heard! The EBS TremoLo is very good though, had a good play with one last month. That and the DPhaser as awesome.

Cool stuff Andy. Will be killer when you get the larger board sorted. I love the Boss Phaser Shifter... In the step up mode it's amazing after fuzz! -
sounding good on my wharfedales. nice work.
Good to hear. My Cambridge Audio's struggle slightly in places
You get some pretty amazing sounds on there. Awesome stuff! Your drummer is right on the money too.
Thanks bud
Shep, when's the tracks gonna be ready? Looking forward to hearing it.
Well… It's done!!! We'll prob re-master it shortly as theres a tiny bit to much gain on a couple of opening notes and in certain areas of 'Face 4 Radio' making my speakers shake a little too much, but I'll swap out these tracks when we do that. Its a minor point. The mix is done and here's the EP. Performed live with a few technical tweeks from Johnny Carter in the studio. Everything you hear that is not a drum beat came from my bass & pedals... http://ourhelicalmind.bandcamp.com Lemme know what you think (and buy it if you're feeling generous!) Anyone interested in what I used for sounds on certain sections etc just ask. On the dispute of Octave pedals which has gone on a fair bit during this thread, each track uses my OC-2 set to Octave-1 at full and Octave-2 and dry off (So just a pure Octave down) on all 3 tracks start to finish. Bass Effects - how many of you use them?
pantherairsoft replied to BottomE's topic in General Discussion
You could say I use one or two effects… But its hard to play a 'synth-bass' setup without them… You'll find all this answered plus a million more questions in the effects forum. -
Can you put a word in for us then at the next Admin tête-à-tête Shep? You can be our union rep.
I'll see what I can do Shep

Interesting concept... I can't think when I've ever needed or wanted to roll to a different end of the passive tone dial on a passive bass mid song before though...
The thing is, once you get into complicated setups (as Shep has done), you start to think about setup time and functionality nearly as much as you think about sounds. The more gear, the more stuff to go wrong and if one thing goes, it really doesn't matter how cool everything would've sounded if it hadn't. Good power, good cables, appropriate casing and contingency plans all come into play once you have multiple signal paths and complicated, modular sound sources. Dan PS. That reminds me. Need to finish that blog post.
I have spent an awful lot on powering this board... But reducing the cabling has proven a god send in resolving issues and cutting down from 8 mains transformers to 2 has transformed the simplicity of stuff. Yes there's a lot of pedals, but investing in a good board, good power supply and quality cables was a better investment than other new toys. And yes... Get on with that blog post!!!! -
Ingenious! Bet it takes you forever to set up all your equipment though...
Not really. The board is all set up within the Diago Tourman. I just plug in 3 expression pedals and one pedal that sits next to the board then plug in the mains. The beat extractor sits on top of my amp and I just run 1 midi cable to the MP-201 and one from that pedal to the Slicer. My drummer sets up the metronome and headphone amp with his kit and I just plug in when I'm done. I can have my entire setup going in about 10 mins from arriving at a venue/studio. My drummer takes about 3 hours
That's pretty cool. I'd like to play to a metronome, but can't get the rest of the guys to (they say it takes away the feel, which is rubbish). However, I do believe my singer/guitarist has bought himself an Adrenalinn, so I should be able to take a click to the Murf from that to sync us. Here's hoping!
The Linn' is amazing, like the slicer meets every effect pedal about. Amazing bit of kit. No worries syncing your stuff to it via midi... -
I'd say give Chris @ Overwater a ring. He's had his hands on basically every bass that ever came out of the factory and he's a great, friendly and genuine guy. He'd happily verify things for you. Shep
