1.
Are the Start, Stop and Rate sliders still functional when the expression pedal is not on?
When I purchased it I was told unplugging the expression pedal means it works normally. To be honest I have never even tried it as I saw no need! I wont be near the unit until Monday now but will be happy to test it. As the Rate slider is missing you'd need something to push the slider along though... Like needle nose pliers or a pencil Shep
2. *MOMENT OF MADNESS - THIS HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN FROM SALE* Selling my EHX Bass MicroSynth... Mainly because I'm out growing my board and I only use this on 1 track at the mo. It's an Origonal unit still with the Origonal EHX power supply. The pedal has been modded (by a previous owner and the work was done by Umph so you know the quality of work is top notch). The mod effectively disables the start, stop and rate sliders and allows you to control that section of the filter via expression pedal... Which basically doubles the pedals awesomeness. The pedal has also had an on/off light added as for some silly reason the old style unit didn't have one!!? It allows Moog-esque synth swells from huge sub upto gritty squarewave fuzz. Octave up, octave down etc etc. The pedal responds better to passive basses, but just as well with Actives if you boost the bass slightly on your instrument. Too low a signal and the notes can choke before the swell finishes. It'll take about 10 minutes of playing and you'll get it! The unit has seen some action so is a little scratched etc and is missing the rate slider (not that you new it with the expression pedal). I'll also include a Moog EP-2 expression pedal to use with the unit which is in top condition just without the rubber feet underneath (a it was mounted on a board). Would consider trade/part ex on...(cash your way in most cases) Moogerfooger Analog Delay Sansamp Bass Driver Deluxe ZVEX Fuzz Factory Eventide Modfactor Eventide Timefactor
3.
It'll be interesting to hear that popped thru your pedalboard!
That will be happening this weekend (board lives at the studio!)... That's where the magnetic pickups become an advantage a well (better response to many pedals)... Feeling the Roni Size vibe
4. I agree with the above. I was never 'taught' but the style I've adopted is to effectively 'roll' my finger tip back and forth (as if you were taking a finger print... Not that I'd know) about the note. It works perfectly for me. Shep
5. As the man above says... Please state an asking price or we'll remove the thread. Cheers Shel
6. Bump! Will also have a Proline 212 cab with a brand new set of Neo drivers up for sale soon. The best of both worlds (build and resonance of the Proline cab with the power handling and tone of the Neo's).
7. Well. I went the Bassline and it arrived today. Firstly the bass is lovely... However it's not the bass shown on the Gallery website! It would appear that the one shown was sold long ago and the stock details used for this one which is VERY different. What I have received is either a custom show version or an early model and differs in every way. The body shape is different The advertised one had a magnetic pup and piezo bridge, this has 2 pups and no piezo. The advertised bass is active, this is passive The advertised bass came with a body support, this has strap lock pins instead so it can be worn as a regular bass The advertised instrumen has a beveled fretboard, this one does not. The stock instrument from bassline is 42" (ish) scale, this is 34"!!!! Basically a totally different instrument. It's a pure electric bass placed upright. Oddly though I quite like it. I called the gallery and told Martin the issue who seemed as confused as me. Suggested I give it a play and send it back if it doesn't do the job for me. I've raised the action considerably to allow a more DB style of play and to remove clunk (was set up as a low action fretless). In doing so the string tension is quite nice. By rolling to the neck pup and rolling the top end off the passive EQ I get a nice upright-esque sound if I play over the bottom of the fretboard rather than over the pups. Compared to doing the same with my Roscoe fretless, the tone is much more upright... And it came strung with Steel roundwounds... So I'm thinking that a set of flatwounds may actually work for me and get the tone I'm after. I'm going to ask the gallery to send me an old set or something to help me decide whether I'll keep her. Being short (5'4") I'm starting to see that I may actually struggle a little with a full scale upright anyway and this on the stand is very very comfy. It's well made and the scoope out back with a channel for the thumb is wicked. Whilst I consider my options here are a few rubbish pics from my iPhone... Link to the actual bass I thought I was buying for reference - http://www.thebassgallery.com/product_deta...Acoustic%20Bass Thoughts/feedback/etc... 11. SOLD Hi folks, Up for grabs is one of the most amazing sounding cabs about. Only selling as I've gone Neo only ur to weight of gear being in a 2-piece band. Everyone knows what these are like.... Stunning. Cabs in fantastic condition with no marks etc. Plastic corners have a few scuffs. I'm asking a VERY reasonable £350 collected from Nottingham. I will not ship/courier under any circumstances due to having 2 cabs damaged by couriers in 12 months. Anyone that wants to try it is more than welcome. TD650 not currently for sale. Shep
12. My EBS rig from a recent Dubstep gig I played
13. If you used it in a band mix you'd notice a loss of low end with some effects. I use some 'non-bass' effect as they sound awesome, but only for recording or with an EQ pedal. Bass specific effect tend to respond to the low end better and retain it more. Distortion and fuzzes are the main ones. Lots of modulation effects are pretty universal...
14. If you have some direct signal in there was no loss. I was just getting a drop of a few db's when running the setting I use - 2 Oct off, dry off, 1 Oct at 100%. the small gain boost has also given a bit more umph to the bottom end. All in all I'm very happy with the mod
15.
Yes 63 is correct.... I must have the same version as you then as mine has the Octave as well (which is absolutely rubbish). I like the sounds it produces but it's a lot of money for a pedal thats just ok in my opinion. The software to adjust the sounds is very glitchy too. Having trouble reading and writing to the pedal
Yeah I'd agree about the Octave section (that always jumps in volume even when the synth section id balanced) - I wish I'd known about the newer 3 dial version without as that looks as though you can scroll up and down through the patches rather than just up. Not had any issues with the software, however I hears its VERY funny about peoples computers, even if you blow the required spec out of the water it just decides if it likes the machine or not. Thankfully it likes my mac!
16.
The one thing thats' really bugging me with the MB unit is that when switching between the effect and true bypass.... the bass in true bypass is slightly louder than with the effect setting and no matter how I adjust the balance level on the effect channel to give more bass and less effect, it's still the same... annoying the hell out of me.
That is quite odd… Mine was the other way around (effect was way to loud!). I have the effect itself pre-programmed to run at max volume (63?) and leave the dial on the far right at max (to avoid any confusion on where it should be if you tweak it). Then just adjust the gain accordingly. I have just had a look around the net though and it seems the system has changed! I found this for sale - http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/...Synth-Pedal/AXU which is totally different to mine and appears to have the octave section removed but the bonus that you can scroll up or down through the patches. mine however is like this - http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...ass_Pedals.html Which version do you have?
17.
Trouble is even having done that.... it's not a patch on the Akai SB-1..... now how do I raise the money to buy another one of those....
I prefer it to the SB-1 (used to love mine). I spent an entire day in front of the computer about 6 months back am basically managed to reproduce all but 2 sounds I love on the SB-1 in the MarkBass. Yeah there were 2 I couldn't get close to, but a million extra donut was a fair trade. Having just finished a studio session as well, the MarkBass really came into it's own. Crystal clear sounds. I can understand the love of the SB-1 though. Regardless of what it does or doesn't do, it just has a... 'damn that's cool' thing going for it!
18. So not only have I proven that once again I'm right... But also that I have the smallest hands of all. Oh
19. To the OP, I'm not exactly sure what your asking or mean by 'Basschat Cover', but if you're asking if you are protected in someway by the website (in the same way paypal has 'fraud protection' an eBay has a 'dispute resolution centre') then the simple answer is no. This is a discussion forum, with the added extra of having an area to buy, sell and trade. The management don't offer any protection and all transactions are at your own risk. We try to educate people not to take risks... I the deal is 'too good to be true' then it most likely is. See ped's post above for all the guidelines. I live by the rule that new newbies need to build up some dialogue with the forum community before I trade with them. New members that join, never post and try to arrange sales by PM etc should be treated with care. Many will be genuine people not use to using forums for discussion, but also it's a fair reason to be suspicious. I would say given the details you've provided, and the fact you seem suspicious anyway asking for help and advice, if you havn't done the deal yet... Walk away. Shep
20. How do you get tickets to London for £13.50. I'm in Nottingham and it was £134 return to Brighton on the train when I wanted to make the journey a month ago!
21. Mine are tiny then. 6.9". I play and own only 6 stringers with 19mm string spacing. I therefore conclude that hand technique and working on your 'limits' means any neck shape or size is fine!
22. I'm not a fan of the Octave part of the MarkBass, but the synth section is stunning once you scrap the factory presets and program your own!
23.
Well I suppose it would be easier to house train that way!
Deal! I'll post it tomorrow. Lol. Best of luck with the sale bud!!
