1. I do love a bass with prongs.... Fantastic collection Lorne!
2. Good luck. Watching with interest. Andy's builds have inspired me too, but I'm not sure Basschat is ready for my particular brand of quality carpentry.....
3. Thanks Basswood. I shall check them out. I usually plug in anyhow, so thats no biggie. Stuart
4. Hello Folks, Looking for a bit of wisdom and advice. I'm thinking of buying an acoustic bass, I'd like it to feel (and sound) as much like my ShortBass one as possible. Anyone got any ideas where I can get nygut strings in long scale? Or what sort of 'conventional' strings would replicate the feel and sound of the thunder guts on my ShortBass? Needless to say,Aquila don't/won't do long scale strings and my enquiry to Pahoehoe seems to have gone the way of all flesh... All thoughts gratefully received Stuart
5. Really nice bass. Right up my strata. Right out of my price range..:0( GLWTS
6. Hi, is this a Korean one or a Chinese one please? Many thanks
7. That is a lovely bass. Beautiful fretless tone, very well played if I may say so. GLWTS.
8. Great work. It's always nice to see a bass brought back to life!
9. Lovely work Andy. Enjoying this one.
10. That is a lovely looking bass, even at this early stage. The honey maple is glorious. Is the body unusually deep? I only ask because it looks like there is a lot of headroom in the control cavity!
11.
I've read in several interviews that Macca stopped using the Wal live because it was so heavy. In those same interviews I've never seen any mention of it being down to Mr McManus' geeky nose-poking. As for "It had, much to Costello's horror, five strings", this just makes him even more of a complete tit AFAIC.
This.
12. What sort of strings are you planning to put on this Andy?
13. 'Derby's Rob Allen'- now there's a thought, eh Andy?.... Subscribed!
14. That fingerboard is going to look lovely with the swifts. Very tasteful Andy. Nice touch.
15. Looks a treat Andy. Well done and thanks again!
16. Hello, that is a lovely bass! Can you post some more pics please? Also, is that a scratch just behind the xlr socket? Thanks Best Stuart
17. Ahhh, now I understand. ... Thats a neat solution Andy.
18. "John Entwistle at his best" Sounds awesome!
19. That looks lovely Andy. Just remember what it USED to look like.
20. Does having the wireless TX fully enclosed in the body of the bass have any effect on the range then?
21. Nice bass for not a lot of money. Have a bump and GLWTS.
22. Anyone got one of these? I saw one on the web last night and I must say they are lovely looking things. Wondering is anyone has...erm...'hands on' experience? Hmmm. seems I got my gridiron teams and basses confused. it's a 48 bass. Not a 49er.....
23.
Spotted that but hadn't worked out what all the controls do yet I'm assuming there will be a wiring diagram on the Neals web site. Is this the only mockingbird version they do?
Yes I believe it is. They are also very helpful on the phone- well Skype anyway. Really nice people as it goes.
24. Thats looking great Andy. Sterling work as usual. I'm sure you already know, but just in case- there is a pickup blend knob on the current setup, which is not standard, this is replaced in Neals rewire kit with a toggle. which can only be a good thing, IMHO. Best S
25. Thanks for this Neils.
