Wow, you live shockingly close to me! I'm up in Parkhead/Whirlow now, but up until a few months ago I lived on High Storrs Drive. You wouldn't happen to live at the bottom of that road would you? I saw someone carry out some bass/guitar cabs into their car once, there can't be that many musicians in that area right?

Whats with the silver undercoat on red fenders? I've got a red MIM jazz with a light chip in it, and it was silver, weird eh?
I much prefer this..... Spector 32K Bass but, hey.... what's 3,000 years between friends
Damn, beat me to it. The spector looks nicer, and the inlay is a fossil too.

Doesn't she endorse Daisy Rock nowadays or something?
I mean just that! So you are using Fender or SX stock parts (you don't say what brand/model the top pic bass is), I would advise against using SX parts. What about pots and jack socket, which Audere pre are you going for?
I was thinking of just using the SX parts for the time being, I will probably shield it straight away, but the tuners, bridge and pickups will stay. I will probably fund some of the hardware changes by selling off the spare rosewood neck I end up with. Dunno about the audere yet, it seems like a big investment for a cheap bass, seeing as the bass all together will only be $200.
Without all that hassle...why dont you just buy that one you want to make..it's already made.. (last photo) of course change the BA and Audere
Thats a picture I found on Talkbass, the guy put it together with a fretless 5 string jazz and a new neck. SX don't seem to make 5 string jazzes in that combination, which is strange since they sell the 5 string necks on their site as replacement parts, as well as that Rosewood boarded jazz as well.
-
What do you mean? I'm not just buying the body, i'm buying a 5 string jazz and replacing the neck. So I'll have a bridge, tuners, pickups etc. Which I will probably add an Audere to later.
-
I plan on buying one of these And buying one these and putting it on. Thus giving me this, without the BA and the Audere
-
*Crosses fingers* Please tell me its a 5 string.

I've played a Rockinbetter (sp?) one. It sounded pretty good actually. But it didn't really look right. Especially the bridge and pickup cover. Isn't the rockinbetter made by Tokai? Or so the guy at the shop claimed.

Trace V4 Same item, different prices, both extortionate.

Some rich and eccentric bass player should buy both just to screw the guy over -
I asked him for the bass tab of his solo..... he`s put the question on the listing!! Excellent!!
Haha, I was just thinking. What sort of crazy person would ask for a tab on such a crap solo!
-
You know, I bet fender had the non FOB fan in mind when they designed the bass..... If you think about it, the stupid bat decal is on the forearm contour, which would be covered by your elbow/forearm if you were playing with your fingers

I've got a standard version of one of these. I originally bought it as a boost pedal for my guitar setup. But I decided to give it a go through my bass rig. It sounds great for that light overdrive tone IMO.What exactly does the Humphrey mod do? Are there any schematics out there for similar mods?

Ashdown Gear & 29 Issues of BGM
TDM replied to Road Dog's topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale
Would you sell me seperately the issue with the Overwater Chris May article in it? I think it is the one with Victor Wooten on the cover...possibly from Easter time 07. I have been waiting for someone selling this issue for agges Cheers! Best Wishes..! Matt
Is that the one with the Gibson Thunderbird review in it? I think I've got it around somewhere. -
Probably. Sh*t in, sh*t out, however good your amp/rig is.
Well, you see the reason I ask is that through most other amps I've tried, it sounds fine. I just have a feeling its the Peavey/Ashdown combo thats screwing with me.
-
Probably the cheap pups in the MIMs is the problem. Install a set of Wizards to give you the growl you search for, young Padwan.
And the new rig amplified (no pun intended) this problem?

I'm currently running a MIM jazz (Stock apart from the Series/Parallel switch) through a Peavey MAX450 and an Ashdown MAG 115. The thing is, I can't get a "classic" jazz tone out of it. It sounds way to honky in the parallel mode, and when its in series, its beefy and a great. but It sounds too much like a P-bass, which Is not what I'm looking for. However, Ive also got this thunderbird type thing, which I built myself. Mahogany body, Maple neck, J+MM pickups (generic no-name brand ones I got off the bay and an old cheap plywood bass) And it sounds like how my Jazz should sound. Punchy, beefy, and not honky at all. Is there something I should know about Peavey/Ashdown gear? I know that Ashdown rigs sound very beefy, and I found that Peavey's are more "transparent", but I don't see how it can make my previously average sounding thunderbird sound awesome, and make my previously awesome sounding Jazz less awesome. Suggestions? My old Laney practise combo had a built in compressor, but I don't think the Peavey really has one (unless you count DDT?) so could that be making a difference? I've just got some new batteries for my little zoom Multi-FX, I might give that a shot.

Those pickups look very much like Gibson TB pickups....... (In the Fernandes)
-
You guys all have huge rigs! I'm 15, been playing bass for 3 years (So does that count as starting out?) But I've played Clarinet for about 4, and piano for about 8 I think Overwater#1 is winning so far, an Overwater, a Trace stack AND a combo? MIM Jazz through Peavey MAX 450 and Ashdown MAG 115. I've got this self-build fender/thunderbird shaped thing too
