  1. Epic timing young man , that’s my wedding anniversary weekend, it could be a struggle getting that one past HID 😂
  2. Fair play , entries already 👍 I shall choose a picture just after Christmas and will start up the January thread a bit early so that we have something to get stuck into over the holiday period if that sounds agreeable.
  3. Same , proper horrible little thing 🤬
  4. I’m not really a trophy hunter, so of course, you will get to hear them again 😁
  5. Why thanks all , it’s been a long time since the last certificate for me, despite many saying, that I am indeed, certifiable 😁
  6. Aintree races this weekend , but keep posting them 👍
  7. December is all about Covers again, and as we finalised our November tunes, we may as well raise the December challenge. It maybe 4 days early to post a festive image, but hey, I'm a risk taker!! not drain covers, No not motor bike covers, Not even duvet covers Yes, its song/tune covers just like last December , This can be a piece of work that you have done during THIS year , so the entry is open a little further afield to those that normally join the fun . As happens all the time, I knew this was coming all year (as I suspect many others did ) but I still don't know what to do just yet. Simple rules ✔️ Entries must be <5 minutes and recorded this year. X No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on X Bagpipes. please no bagpipes, the ears cant take it, panpipes only if you have too. X No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you.. Deadline wise , we will go for midnight on Christmas Day 👍, though you probably have till my head is together on the 26th. I might extend the voting a day or so depending on the entry count. Go get inspired, play it straight or mangle something up but mostly have some fun
  8. 😂😂 Little man is only 7 😂
  9. I’was just about see if the crew are available for an away trip, when lady Lurks reminds me we are entertaining grandlittle lurks 16th and 17th. a proper shame as Lurksalittle is at uni in Keele and resides a spit and a kick from the venue, you could have had a room full ….or not , but I’ll see if we can obtain a full combat defence kit and some body guards for the Rhyl date 😉.
  10. I’ve just got around to listening through all of them and I must say, bravo , superb stuff all of them I might start up the Christmas thread later today as the theme will remain as is tradition , so we may as well open it up .
  11. I thought I posted this a couple of hours ago , but using my PC I think I keep forgetting to hit the ‘submit post’ button 🤦‍♂️
  12. Congrats to @xgsjx , @Nail Soup, and @upside downer on a deserved joint win last month. Without too much fuss, the picture choice became incumbent on xgsjx, who provided the following image and a proper inspiration it provided too! so here they are choose your favourite 3 from the following 1 @Leonard Smalls A couple of rainy afternoons have caused this to happen... An evocation of short-lived 60s US sci-fi tv show, in dub! 2 @Dad3353 He's still a long way from home, and the paving is slimy, slippery and dangerous. There's something stuck to his sole. If this is the Future, I'm glad I won't see it. 3 lurksalot Its kind of a heroic homecoming theme ....honest 4 @adamg67 I’ve tried to go kind of “directly” from the pic, imagining the protagonist walking forward, imagining what happens next and thinking, “if that’s the music video, what’s the music?”. A driving insistence to keep moving and the drama of what is encountered on the way. 5 @xgsjx Got mine finished & it's went a very different direction from what I thought it would. 6 @Nail Soup The picture gave me vibes of looping and continuation, so a repetitive bassline and yes it goes on a bit 🙂..... The words (such as they are) came from a bit of word association: Blue Circle > Cement > Concrete > Abstract Finally, the sad death of Keith Levine means I tried to channel some KL/PIL. 7 @upside downer The image didn't half make me think of the wonderful worlds conjured up by Douglas Adams in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books so here's a space-time continuum, jolly romp of a tune named after the supercomputer built by hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings interspersed with a few words from the book. What I'm saying is that the lyrics are by Douglas Adams. I hope the executors of his estate aren't litigious. Thats the lot have a listen through , wonder at the talent on show and throw three ticks in the boxes of your choice before midnight on 30th Nov . Enjoy
  13. maybe, maybe not , everything is cool voting thread being compiled right this minute , so it wont be long !
  14. this is a bit of a noisefest to be honest.... but no singing! I didnt realise it lasted as long as it does , it must be such an easy listen that time just floats by ! Its kind of a homecoming theme
  15. Congrats to @xgsjx , @Nail Soup and @upside downer on a deserved joint win. Without too much fuss, the picture choice became incumbent on xgsjx, who provided the following image stating...... "Hoping it inspires a good range of genres from Ambient to Synthwave to CyberPunk & anything else that it can muster." Simple rules ✔️ Entries must be <5 minutes and recorded this month. ✖️ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on ✖️ No Bagpipes. The BST truce has duly expired . Panpipes only if you have too. ✖️ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you. A line or two offering an insight to your inspiration/track choice will be good as well , it works nicely on the voting thread. The Deadline for entries is Midnight on Wednesday 23rd November . Before closing off just a reminder that come December we traditionally have turkey a cover song challenge, so get your thinking caps on for a song to choose, or even get started on. Have fun
  16. Well done @xgsjx , @Nail Soup and@upside downer on a deserved joint win. If you can work out a picture provider between yourselves that would be great, or I can set a tiebreak question for the privilege 😁
  17. I’d forgot about the arts centre ! A proper dive that one ! Quaintways was always on the circuit by all counts , my sisters are a few years older than me and saw the big Liverpool bands of the time and the stones, quo, Roxy music and the like. I did see the AT ‘s a few times as I recall 😂, I recognise one of those Shrewsbury venues upthread as an AT’s gig
  18. I used to use 6 ADJ Pars and link them to a Ryger controller and let it run , the ryger has blackout and flood stomps and a number of set sequences. I had a couple of laser pattern things that I would occasionally use on the ceilings , but no fogs or hazer as the warbler had asthma and was nervous of them
  19. It’s your last chance to vote guys and gals , decision time is at midnight 👍
  20. Chester isn’t too bad at the minute, Alexander’s , Telford Warehouse and the Live rooms are at the top end, and having just won best pub for entertainment in ‘The Great British Pub Awards’ , The Saddle rocks, and is bang on the money.
  21. It is the time that a small corner of the forum offer their humble compositions for judgement by the BC massive. Well done to @upside downer on his excellent win in September, he was forthcoming with his choice of image and has a few words of explanation to accompany it.. "This bizarre spectacle is all part of the El Colacho Baby Jumping Festival where newborn children that have been baptised need to have their original sin cleansed. The costumed man represents the devil and, as he jumps over the babies, the idea is that their sin will stick to him and be removed from them. No babies were harmed in the preparation of this photo 😁" the photo for inspiration being ..... the offerings are as follows , please choose your favourite 3 1 @Dad3353 The tiny tots have not yet learned (been told...) about the Law of Physics and the Real World. Nothing, to them, is impossible, or even odd... 2 @Leonard Smalls As soon as I saw the photo I thought, it could be tragic! Hence, we have a jazzy musing on Chopin's piano cover of Barry Manilow's "Could It Be Magic"... 3 Lurksalot Minimal sung lyrics , but probably still too many , with added real spoken Spanish, courtesy of @mcnach 4 @Nail Soup I had a banjo 'on my knee' when I saw the picture. I checked the rules and banjo is not outlawed... So - a banjo song about the devil and original sin. 5 @Nicko I started with a vocal line "I saw the Devil in the street, He wore Addidas upon his feet", and then junked that and came up with some Neo classical rock nonsense. Part Carmina Burana, part Diary of a Madman 6 @upside downer A devilishly diabolical ditty with angular guitar, stuttering yet throbbing bass, minimalist insistent drums and a vocal style somewhere between a Fisher Price Elvis Presley and a poor man's Johnny Cash. . 7 @xgsjx I've got an entry this month. Bass is my Ibby through the Plugin Alliance Ampeg B-50N. Drums & vocals by Logic (just had fun chopping things up). These all bring a smile and are well worth voting for.... but only 3 voting closes at the end of witching hour , midnight on 31st October have fun.
  22. updated with some real Spanish (and many thanks) from resident speaker @mcnach
