Saw Ian Prowse tonight , superb show , tells it from his heart, musically fantastic.

We had grand little Lurks over last weekend , and he played the piano for a while , when I say played, we set the soundscape, I hit the record button, and he had some fun making a lot of the noises. It was ideally a soundtrack for one of our 'expeditions' in a star wars kind of way, but I did a bit of cutting and restructuring and I thought it fitted this quite well, if a little dark. All in Reaper

Are you ready ........ -
A close run challenge for October, but rising to the top in the final throws came @SH73 with a great entry. As is his privilege, nay, honour, he has offered up the following for your inspiration. "Something futuristic....." Simple rules ✔️ Entries must be <5 minutes and recorded between now and the deadline. ✖️ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on ✖️ No Bagpipes/panpipes , everyone had the chance last month , so there! ✖️ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you.. Deadline wise , we will go for Midnight on the 23rd as I will be away for the weekend and leaving it till the 26th only leaves 4 voting days. A line or two of blurb as usual for the vote thread will be lovely. Have fun

😂😂 well I’ve just thinned the herd and appear to have voted myself down to third 😂 great work , it’s brilliant hearing all the lyrics this month 👍 -
Off we jolly well go then, some great work in this month's collection , fantastic. Welcome to the new songsmiths who have contributed this month , all are welcome. Just a quick note .. Tripehound told me his song was pretty much written before the start of the month, though recorded this month. That is why it's not in the voting thread, though I'm hoping he will join in due course.

there have been some great strides into Autumn with the witching month and the horrors of Halloween! After a great win from @MoonBassAlpha in September he offered us the following for our inspiration. "This image is available by kind permission from the creator Tim M Gravestock, a graphic designer and excellent photographer. Hope this is seasonally appropriate and gets the creative juices flowing" This has of course resulted in the usual set of eclectic entries which are all well worth a listen and vote. however, just choose your favourite 3 from the following 1 @Dad3353 I took a wrong turning and left The Path. Clouds formed, and a chill wind whispered to me. She came closer... 2 @Boodang Desolate, haunting and isolation are the themes that come across for me in the picture and ones that inspired this melancholy, and hopefully atmospheric, piece. 3 @AndyTravis I’ve sat in my pyjamas with coffee doing this today. The dogs are looking at me funny. 4 @Leonard Smalls I felt that the rather spooky image deserved my rather jaunty cover of Spandau Ballet's classic. Get yer dancin' shoes on! 5 @SH73 `Born to Bleed'- lyrics don`t make sense as usual. Trash metal song this time 6 Lurksalot I went for the obvious, well it was to me, these people need new windows! 7 @MoonBassAlpha You'll all be glad to hear the sonic screwdriver makes a welcome return in a desolate soundscape 8 @Tony macker Pheww! I very nearly didn't post this track kinda rushed and had lots off probs with distortion on the mix. 9 @Wolfram By the look of the poor girl and the state of that house, there could be only one theme for this one... home renovation. I present 'Grand Designs'! 10 @upside downer Our cheeky little heroine is off to school. Dunno how much work she'll get done, what with the mischievous and otherworldly nature of her classmates. They all seem a bit, well, y'know, rapaciously ravenous. She may well fall in with the wrong crowd, if she hasn't already... no skeletons in this cupboard , but you'll have to pick the bones out of these great tunes. we have new entrants who are most welcome and making a mark straight away Dive in and Choose your favourite 3 , Voting will close at midnight on halloween .... Good Luck

here is my entry based on the picture chosen by last months winners, MoonBassAlpha. I went for the obvious, well it was to me, these people need new windows! the main riff was on my little 'Fleabass' through a waves Bass app that doubled up the guitar part, then various synths found on garageband stuck on top , vocals by yours truly, disguised with some formant shifting in Reaper, Polished ( ) with a bit of OZone 8 lyrics if you like that sort of thing ....

This looks like a popular month , excellent , welcome to you all . I have had an idea , I hope it works out , it’s just getting it done in time could be the issue here 😁

here we go then... -
It's straight into Autumn with the witching month and the horrors of Halloween! After a great winning entry from @MoonBassAlpha for September he has offered us the following for your inspiration. "This image is available by kind permission from the creator Tim M Gravestock, a graphic designer and excellent photographer. Hope this is seasonally appropriate and gets the creative juices flowing" Simple rules ✔️ Entries must be <5 minutes and recorded between now and the deadline. ✖️ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on ✖️ Bagpipes/panpipes .... well they are pretty scary so what the hell ✖️ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you.. Deadline wise , we will go for Midnight on the 24th but I will probably be doing the voting thread when I get back home on the 25th A line or two of blurb as usual for the vote thread will be lovely. September Composition Challenge VOTING THREAD
lurksalot replied to lurksalot's topic in General Discussion
Well done MBA , no probs with how quick it was to do it , it was indeed a worthy winner. I’ll put the new thread up shortly 😁 -
Played a gig in chester one evening and Paul Reynolds was present , the landlord asked if he could join us for a tune , we played Dakota and Paul was going mental on rhythm guitar’s 12 string , it was painful for Ian, watching his guitar being thraped , but it was all in good order after the event. A bit surreal nevertheless !
-
No probs , the deadline is mainly so I can format the voting thread without too much messing , as long as you post before I’ve got too involved with that , it’s all cool 👍
-
excellent all in and voting thread up It does seem a relatively chilled vibe ... with of course a notable exception
-
Welcome to the Voting thread for September Have a listen through this fine selection of offerings produced for your pleasure! These are based on/inspired by the following picture, chosen by last month's winner @Doctor J Please choose your favorite 3 from the following 1 @AndyTravis I started this after talking to a mate who’s going through a rough time - we reminisced over simpler times and when all we had to worry about was enough beer to kill a tank and a kebab on the way home. 2 @fingers211 Is she holding the last fire on earth? Or has she just caught her brolly alight at a lakeside bbq? 3 @Leonard Smalls In my occasional series of updated covers, here's my take on Rihanna's "Umbrella" reworked for a Noisecore audience. 4 @Dad3353 It takes practice to give the Gift of Fire; this is not his finest attempt ... An intellectual exercise, here. Inspired in three parts : the well-known Greek myth of the creation of Fire, set to music using Alexander Scriabin's Mystic, Prometheus chord, with libretto stolen (like the Fire...) from Schubert's 'Prometheus', by Goethe 5 Lurksalot A little bit of muzack that seemed to put out it's own fire as soon as it reared its head! 6 @upside downer A rinky-dinky, jingly-jangly, plinky-plonky instrumental to soothe your worries and ease your way when you find yourself walking through a lake dressed as Audrey Hepburn carrying a combustible umbrella. As usual. 7 @MoonBassAlpha Imaginary rainfall, rhythmically inspired by something from Isotope's Deep End album from many years ago, kind of. That's the lot folks. an eclectic mix of marvelousness for you here! choose your favourite 3 and vote accordingly voting will close at Midnight on 30th September

here is my contribution , A little bit of muzack that seemed to put out it's own fire as soon as it reared its head! technical... sat in the garden with the ipad on garageband exploiting guitar sounds , then using the drum pads ( which I quite liked ), then play it into reaper and adding a bit of piano, and fleabass. then going back to ipad to find some vocal samples, and bringing them on to it .
