Ahh interesting. Walbassist, I've tried that but after time tuners (I think) wear, and the tolerances when they were made decrease. There is a thing with (some) tuner's, that when you tune up a string, you have to wind down, then wind up to tune properly, ( because of the gap/slip in the cog mechanism . Ive been told by a good source that USA Ultralites have so little give in the mech that you can wind down and tune perfectly. This is not cow poop I googled it. 😁 But without joke they have had there day, and the bass deserves them, and I have some spare cash. The thing is what would suit it better.? LollyPops or Clover Leafs.?

Im not sure too be honest WOT, I can't imagine Martin fitting crap tuners, but who knows, there gonna go. The Sei is gonna be spoilt with a new set. 😀.. This is why I'm confused. From Bass Direct. I know I want chrome but what are the size measurements revering to. I guess its the the stem length.? http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Hipshot,_Ultra_light_Tuners.html

Looking put some new tuners on the bass. But I'm not sure if Hipshot Ultra light would be a direct ( measurement wize) replacement. I'm not even sure if these are Hipshot on the bass. It's quite an old Sei so what Martin put on it I'm not sure. I've had the strings off and they do wobble a little. Bushes wearing.? Who knows. Anyways I'm aware they do a lollypop design and the clover design. Not sure which one would suit. ? In fact I know nothing about reverse/ratio tuners etc etc. Any info would be great. What do you guys recommended.? Cheers.

Interesting. Warwick Custom Shop are all CNC machined, the neck is shaped by a computer, and neck radius is made by a computer. Even the frets are put in by a machine/computer. This is Custom Shop Warwick. The only thing done by hand is the final sanding of the neck and body. The electronics, and the hardware, the fret dressing. Im not knocking them, but its interesting to see how they are made.. . Its obvious that the machines work faster, are more precise and are more cost effective. But where does the money go.? into the factory etc etc, the CNC machines.? I find it genuinely interesting of how the manufacturing process has evolved when it comes to making instruments. It seems strange to me that a Custom Shop instrument that is suppose to be really special and a lot of it hand crafted is made in this way. But I guess Warwick are a big company so have a bigger turnover than say John Shuker/Sei/GB

Its probably a good marketing strategy to make a few more euros, but for a maker of fine instruments like Warwick has done for many years, I think it looses them some respect. To say some clown might hand over 5k for it doesn't look good for the Warwick brand. Imo.. They should have built it as a one off, and not tried to sell it. But I will add at least there being experimental, by the look of some of there custom shop instruments.

5k is an expensive bit of fun. Its not like its a marketing gimmick... There actually trying to sell it.?

Without doubt the stupidest marketing of a relic bass I've ever seen. I find it quite insulting that a company like Warwick would ask that much money for a piece of crap like that, and try and pass it off as "yeah but its new old". Shocking. I wonder what the warranty is on it. Its not like the Corvette is a really old bass, (introduced in 92) so why make a relic of it.? And more importantly, how on earth after this massive battering did the neck survive and look brand new.?? Bloody stupid

Its not a Fender Jazz. I think my post stands Andy. 😆
-
Whats the relationship between Jackson and Fender Andy.? Im obviously missing something.

Loved this fantastic HipHop Funk from this man and his band for a long time. Live he uses the talent of the incredible bass player Uriah Duffy.. I'm sure most have heard of him.
-
Yeah but its not a Jazz Bass in the true sense. When was the last time you saw a Fender Jazz with a Stingray pickup in that position.? How is it going to sound like a P Bass (under that pickup cover) in that position anyway.? Im just saying for Fender its a bit Leftfield. There are only so many things you can do with an Electric Bass, radically new bass design is just a pipe dream when it comes to an instrument like the bass, its all been done imo. The last radical design on the bass was a Dingwall. but since then its just minor tweaks.. I do wonder if on some Piano forum there are people moaning because makers aren't doing something radically different or groundbreaking with the piano.. ?

I really like this. At least Fender are doing something different. But Fender are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Garfield Fleming from the Delfonics was walking past a record shop and heard a record he wrote and sang.. They didn't realise who he was. Just an excellent moment.
