Have got the gas for a Warwick streamer, but just wondering the weight of one..they allways looked heavy to me.. Dont know anything about Warwicks, so a few Q's whats the the tone like...Any growl, is the streamer a better bass than the Corvette? Thanks

Hey people, i have recently joined a reggae outfit, and im really enjoying it! Doing covers such as Toots, Burning Spear, Marley, UB40, and various riddims.. Like with many genre's, it has sub genres, but its interesting to see the riddims passed along from the originator, to other artists, and to hear there lyrical take on it. Riddims like Ali baba, Slengteng, Declaration of Rights, Police in Helicopter, Forever lovin Jah riddims..Also great songs like UB40's Food for thought, and my favorite Marley's waiting in vain.. These riddims/bass lines have to be kept to the original, and i like to improvise , so i have to erm....reel in my ego and stick with the groove (and i mean note for note) I also feel that it has a very close relation to funk, in as much as the groove and feel/touch is everything, wether it be on the one, or off the beat.. Any one had experience playing reggae??

I would say the most exciting and has made a the biggest splash is Tal Wikenfeld!! Also some of the Gospel players are supreme in there bass playing.. People like Flea are good,and i like his playing but only famous because hes in a famous band, and knowhere near as good as some of the lesser known bass players out there... (I will get shot for this), but i think Flea is highly overrated......IMHO Tis a tricky Q..

I think you probably could..i just takes practice..Knowing the bass ine and the piece your singing.. Singing and improvising on the bass....now thats a different matter!

I love fender because of the history of music that was created on the instruments Leo created..For sure there are better jazz basses P's out there, and there QC is not up to what it should be (Leo would surely have the mind and attitude of say Roger Sadowsky if he were alive today) but they are great instruments.. I know if i record or play my Jazz live, im going to get a great sound and a bullet proof bass..Thats the simplicity of say a Jazz bass..This is the nature of a big company like Fender, as oppose to a small company like Sadowsky or Celinder..The quality will lack because there is no personal touch to the instruments..As i said im sure if Leo were still alive he wouldnt let and guitar go out of the shop without it being spot on..I guess this is what the custom shop is for.... Unfortunatelly mass produced basses will allwys have QC issues because of the hugeness of the company.. A Jazz/Precision has a sound that is loved all over the world and the fact that Leo got the bass so spot inso many ways, the first time round is astounding!

Was just wondering what your favorite guitar players are... My favorite for many years now is George Benson.. He came on one time when i saw Incognito at the Forum in London as a suprise...blew me away...As a soul/jazz/funk fan this is my bread and butter!! Surely your there to play bass, not to worry about how you look!!?? Just wear it the way you need to able to play the bass most comfortably You wouldnt drive a car from the back seat because it looked cool. I think IMHO, it looks stupid with bass around your knees and its bad for, back, etc You dont see many pro's with the bass round by there knees..
