What sort of five string are you looking for? I've got a Bogart SKC carbon fibre/composite five string I might be up for swapping if you're interested. Probably won't appeal to you if you're a Fender devotee though. "Still Life" is one of my favourite albums of all time. The first side with "Pilgrims", "Still Life" & "La Rossa" is just superb. Bought the CD remaster a few years back & it's one of the most frequently played things on my ipod.

Has to be Jetglo - ALL sunbursts are ghastly no matter what the make. I had two Jetglo Rics & they looked superb - pity they were sh*t basses......

I've written & played bass parts on synths as well as bass guitars for ages & really enjoy it. I personally think that for anything below a bottom E a synth sounds better, even though I've got a pretty nice 5 string bass. I've never heard any kind of synth add-on for a bass guitar that sounds anywhere near as good as a decent keyboard synth does. Used lots of stuff over the years - Moog Prodigy (awesome!), Sequential Circuits Pro One, Roland JP800 & Currently using a Korg Triton LE for all my keyboard stuff.

I use both - some people say you can get a chorus effect out of a flanger but I've never heard a decent one.

This is the first time I've been able to access the site for nearly 2 days - I've just had fast fibre optic broadband installed & everything else is hurtling along so I don't think the problem is with my computer.

I think it's pretty unfair of the band to expecting you to do it when they know you've just had surgery. You must be mad to even be contemplating doing this gig so soon after an operation like that. I know it's for a good cause, but you really should be putting your own health first here. -

Lovely bass for silly money! I met Andreas Schack & tried some of his basses for the first time at the Frankfurt Trade Fair in the early 80's & was seriously impressed by the quality & playability of them. They've been pretty much ignored in this country, which is a shame as they are superb instruments.
