  1. Depends on what you would call "cheap" really. Under £20, you can't beat Warwick Red Label IMO. Between £20-30, you get a lot more choice, that Markbass deal at Andertons is tempting, Elites are always a good bet, Rotosounds are a solid choice. You can get D'Addario's at about £28 from their Amazon store (Pro Steels are my go to strings at the moment). Google searches are your friend here, shop around, buy in bulk for better deals etc.
  2. This should be in the "Effects For Sale" section.
  3. Behind the Wall of Sleep - Sabbath
  4. Going to be coming along when you play Inverness in April.
  5. That Epi is cool
  6. Other than the bridge / saddle / mute of the "original" 4001 / 4003, and the twin truss rod malarky, as have been mentioned elsewhere, something else that could do with changing is the height adjustment of the neck pickup. The scratchplate is a thick piece of plastic, so the neck pickup can't physically be set more very high, even if you take the springs off (I have). It'd just make it a bit easier resting my thumb on it.
  7. Get the Funk Out - Extreme
  8. Never tried one, really fancy trying out a Czech built through neck, but that could be dangerous!
  9. Nineteen - Paul Hardcastle
  10. Tainted Love - Soft Cell / Gloria Jones

  12. Autumn Twighlight - Cathedral
  13. Remember watching that at the time.
  14. One of my "dream" basses from back in the day. Looks fab, but lack of funds as well. GLWTS.
  15. Children of God - SWANS
  16. Uptown Girl - Billy Joel
  17. Hello John, Got A New Motor - Alexei Sayle
  18. Currently have the Celestion Pulse 10 IR's on my POD Go, quite happy with the results. Although the standard cab models are good, they didn't really quite hit the mark. Did a bit of research and found the Celestion site, who had loads on offer, took a punt at the Pulse range, and glad I did. What are they? WAV files. How do you use them? Load 'em into your box via your computer How do they work? Electronic Wizardry Where do you get them? https://www.celestionplus.com/ Are they worth bothering with? Yes if you want to play about trying to find something that sounds a bit "better".
  19. "Upgrades" rarely seem to increase the value of the instrument over standard, and if it does, it's minimal. If the upgrade (or "mod" is the other one) is of value to you, then you're going to pay the extra, if not, then it isn't worth it.
  20. All the ones that were let go, were let go for a reason, and you just have to get on with it. If the reasons were different, I might not have had to sell the Thunder 1A, my first 4003, the blue '99 Tokai Love Rock, the '77 Ibanez Artist 2619, or the '78 Iceman IC100, but they went, and other stuff came in.
  21. Too Much Too Young - The Specials
  22. I would expect that the same post Brexit rules on trade & tax would apply if someone in the UK bought something from a retailer in mainland Europe, that any tax is paid to the retailer, and therefore no tax is paid on importation into the country of delivery (anyone who's bought anything from Thomann for example would attest to this). They could always get on the Eurostar, and nip in to the Gallery and make an event of it.
