  3. Warwick Red's are a good set of strings for very little money, used to use them for a while, then tried some others which just sounded better. Elites Stadium Steels used to be pretty good, and are reasonably priced. Current faves are D'Addario Pro Steels, but they aren't cheap. Amazon have a 4 string set for around £28-29, where bizarrely, a 5 string set is £26. IMO, they consistently sound great, and last for months.
  4. Crazy Horses - The Osmonds

  12. Sounds like I should keep quiet about loving D'Addario Pre Steels then... Tried a few different brands of Stainless Rounds, and the Pro Steels simply sound better on the bass than anything else I've tried.

  20. ACS Custom. Not cheap, but bloody good. I put off getting some for years, after having sworn by the Christmas tree type ones (Etymotic ER-20's), but decided to finally take the plunge and get some moulded ones. They're simply head & shoulders above the other "off the shelf" ones. Initially went for the 20dB filters, found them a bit too effective, so got some 17dB filters, which are perfect. Tried some Alpines, I found them fiddly and didn't sit in my ears very well. ACS Custom Earplugs

  22. The Highlands are a big place indeed, @neepheid and the rest of the Aberdeen posse are about 2 and a half hours away from here. I have considered FRFR / active PA speakers, but the general consensus from the FRFR thread (from what I've read of it), is that unless you can go down the QSC route, it isn't worth it, which is why I ended up with the Ashdown in the first place. To add another googlie into the mix, we're going to be moving house in the not too distant future, so I think any plans for gear upgrades need to be put on hold. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions!

  24. I've had a couple of Ric cases that have suffered from this, unfortunately, no matter what I tried, they still reeked after treatment. They also suffered from the usual Ric ABS case breakages, so I'm assuming that they were the cause of the mustyness getting in to the case. The easiest option was to buy a new case.
