  1. @Sambrook, the "L" is the "Laredo". IIRC, it had chrome hardware, where the Cheyenne (& Cheyenne II) had gold hardware. For some reason, the 4004's just weren't as popular with the buyers as the "traditional" 4001 / 4003 models. IIRC, unfortunately, they were discontinued a few years ago (can't recall when), presumably because of the lack of demand.
  2. We're down in Yorkshire for a few days, so my lad & I nipped in to Richtone, there's the Autumnglo which is a '78, and there's a Mapleglo '79 as well. Both very nice. Was in Guitar guitar in Glasgow last weekend, and they had some new 4003 basses in, had a shot on a really lovely looking Mapleglo, really didn't like it at all, the neck was way too skinny. Action seemed pretty good with the new bridge though.
  3. Eat the Rich - Motorhead
  4. Vibrator - Motorhead
  5. Remember talking to Steve Hogarth in a recording studio in the mid-90's, and inadvertently saying "I used to like your band, but not listened to them since you joined". Oops. I did go and apologise a bit later. He was quite magnanimous about it thankfully. Never really listened to anything after "Fugazi", it all went quite poppy.
  6. Nantucket Sleighride - Mountain
  7. Wind Cries Mary - Hendrix
  8. Fly Away - Lenny Kravitz
  9. Buried at Sea - Saint Vitus
  10. But then you get colouration from the preamp pedal, modelling speakers. You could also save money by not buying more gear, and the hassle of selling old gear. But of course, it was only a suggestion to try out.
  11. You could always just plug the preamp pedal into the Effects Return of your amp, as it simply bypasses the amp's preamp and puts the signal into the power amp. I use a POD Go into the Effects Return of an Ashdown combo, works for me.
  12. Guns of Navarone - The Skalites
  13. It is a shimmering stunner. Too many strings for me though! GLWTS.
  14. Do you have any better pictures of this? 👍
  15. Depends on what you would call "cheap" really. Under £20, you can't beat Warwick Red Label IMO. Between £20-30, you get a lot more choice, that Markbass deal at Andertons is tempting, Elites are always a good bet, Rotosounds are a solid choice. You can get D'Addario's at about £28 from their Amazon store (Pro Steels are my go to strings at the moment). Google searches are your friend here, shop around, buy in bulk for better deals etc.
  16. This should be in the "Effects For Sale" section.
  17. Behind the Wall of Sleep - Sabbath
  18. Going to be coming along when you play Inverness in April.
  19. That Epi is cool
  20. Other than the bridge / saddle / mute of the "original" 4001 / 4003, and the twin truss rod malarky, as have been mentioned elsewhere, something else that could do with changing is the height adjustment of the neck pickup. The scratchplate is a thick piece of plastic, so the neck pickup can't physically be set more very high, even if you take the springs off (I have). It'd just make it a bit easier resting my thumb on it.
  21. Get the Funk Out - Extreme
  22. Never tried one, really fancy trying out a Czech built through neck, but that could be dangerous!
  23. Nineteen - Paul Hardcastle
