An MB800 Fusion - having the 500 version, and not being able to use anywhere near it`s full power, an 800 version is a frightening (but appealing) thought.
I can confirm this - owning this very MB500! It had it's live debut on Saturday. Playing through two 4x10s, I had the volume at 8 o'clock. Almost comically powerful. Needless to say, as I was playing my Spector, the sound was incredible.

We briefly used a trailer behind a people carrier, until one night on the motoerway a lorry doing about a ton clipped it, resulting in the trailer flipping over and the people carrier following it. They had to peel the roof off like a corned beef tin.

I have the MB500, which is similar I think. I've had it a few weeks, been using my old Ibanez Blazer and Roadster mainly but just took my humble Spector NS2000 along to rehearsal, and... Wow. Seemingly instant Eddie Jackson / Rex Brown tone. That boost channel is amazing. I've been bouncing around like a loon all day, can't stop grinning! I'm so impressed I'm just about to buy another Euro Spector to replace the one I sold a few months back. Spector and GK, a match made in heaven. Anybody want to buy my Ibanez Roadster, I no longer have any need for it
You're right. Rick for Gates, just had a listen, was thinking of a different track before. The other two are a Jazz. Your turn now, Barchatta is Rush, or are you asking whether Geddy is using a Rick for that one?
I know it's Rush, this thread just reminded me of the seemingly eternal 'Rick or Jazz' debate when discussing Geddy Lee For the record, I think Barchetta is the Rick

Spector and Gallien-Krueger. That is all.
Have a listen to 'The Gates of Delirium' from Relayer - def Jazz Compare to 'Roundabout' (and, of course 'The Fish') from Fragile - there's your Rick. btw, any other animal name bass players to add to this and The Ox?
Gates is the Rick isn't it? Sound Chaser and To Be Over is the Jazz. What about Red Barchetta?
I've seen him use a Jazz bass, a non reverse Thunderbird & his old faithful Rickenbacker (along with many other basses) & he sounded pretty much the same with all of them.
They sound completely different to me... Very noticably still Squire playing, but very different tones. Well most of the time anyway Different strokes and all that.

crossrail bulldozed the wrong venue
Cosmo Valdemar replied to paul torch's topic in General Discussion
I haven't been to the Forum in years but most venues of that size seem to be getting worse sound-wise - I saw Killing Joke at the Roundhouse a couple of months ago and the sound was horrific for the first half, then seemed to get a little better. I saw Mastodon at the Islington Academy a couple of years ago and one of the guitarists was inaudible for the ENTIRE SET. Brixton Academy I've pretty much given up on. When a band you know well starts playing and you can't make out what song it is... This has happened several times there. I miss the Astoria -
Rumour I heard right here on Basschat was that a lot of that classic unmistakeable Rickenbacker sound he got was actually from a Jazz.
He did use a Jazz occasionally in the 70s but it's a very different sound to the Rick, the songs with the Jazz have a thicker, burpier tone. A bit more of a standard bass sound.

Classic line up of Status Quo to reform

Great news. Hopefully Lancaster and Coghlan can pull it off. As entertaining as Quo still are in their current form, it's family-friendly cabaret compared to the early stuff. -
Sold my '79 Fender Precision to ismael. A nice easy transaction, great comms and very pleasant to deal with. A trustworthy BCer, wouldn't hesitate to deal with again!
-
I bought alanw's Korg tuner pedal - item arrived quickly, as described and in excellent condition. Very easy to deal with - a gent.

There's no reason a Fender J wouldn't do the job admirably. Kust needs to be EQd properly. However, if you are just not enjoying the sound of the bass, that's another matter!
One annoying habit Jools has is mis-pronouncing band's names.June Tabor is on this week with Oysterband, which he keeps pronouncing "Oyster banned" like some weird newspaper headline. It's one word, Jools, with the emphasis on the 'OYST'.Prat!
Radio, Head! M'talli, Cah!

Here is my 2011 Rickenbacker 4003, in pristine, as-new condition (apart from the 'made in the USA' sticker being removed). It's only ever been played at home, never been gigged. I won't go on about the sound, you know the score. Needless to say, the vintage tone control function is amazing - instant Roger Glover/Machine Head! Comes with the OHSC (also as new) and all the expected goodies - Ric polishing cloth, case key etc. I've just had to cough up some money for a new amp and cabs now I'm gigging again, I know I won't be playing the Rick in my new band so I can't justify hanging on to it. I'm looking for £1250 + postage. I can deliver around the South East if neccessary. I can only upload a couple of pics as they are so big, but if you are interested PM me and I can email them over to you. Silly question, but are you sure it says 'special' on the truss rod cover? If it's a Q4 it should only say Spector - if you squint it could read special... Not that this matters at all, I'm just sure I've never seen a Spector with anything other than the company name on the truss rod cover.
-
Looks like an NS2000 Q4. I have the earlier version with the through neck which originally listed for around £800. You have an excellent bass there Wayne!
-
Front or back of the headstock? As far as I can remember, I've only seen the logo on a Spector headstock - as well as the truss rod cover. The model tends to be on the back, so that should tell you exactly what it is.
Dexy's. Oh dear, oh dear like some very dodgy pub band.
I thought it was one of the funniest things I've seen in ages. I saw Tom Jones on here the other week, now that was good! The bluesy stuff, not the bit with Jools playing his trademark boogie piano all over the place.
