  1. @la bam, realistically is there a way to work something out distance wise if i threw my hat in the ring?
  2. Sadly, I think you're a bit too far away from me down in Essex!
  3. I'd be quite tempted to try this rig out but you're a bit far away! As I understand this runs 8 KT88 valves (correct me if I'm wrong!) and is comparable to the Mesa Strategy head. Do you know the weight of the head and each cab?
  4. I've redacted a few words to reveal your true statement...
  5. To second that, surely literally all of the aspects of this dream bass would only be valid if it was the right orientation for you? The ergonomics, the visual look etc. All of that would be moot if it played into why this is your dream bass as when you play it both the ergonomics and the visual style of the bass will be exactly the opposite of intended. If it is your dream bass purely by way of sound only, then maybe it's worthwhile, though I suspect that stringing a righty as a lefty will make the bass sound slightly different than intended too depending on how the pickups are wound and placed. All in, your only option is a DeLorean.
  6. I'm left handed for everything in life EXCEPT playing bass and guitar. I don't know why, but some kind of hyper-logic activated in my brain when I first started playing bass 20 years ago, I was 2 months into playing as a lefty then made the decision to change to righty as 95% of basses are righty. VERY glad the younger me had some kind of sense (a rare thing when I was a teenager!) So, find a DeLorean, go back in time and switch to righty, your future self will thank you! 😁
  7. Does it come with the matching dog bowl?
  8. Yeah, I gathered that thanks! But as mentioned a while back that was a photo of the build process with a wholly unshaped headstock, so I'm not sure what your 'not sure' comment means! Anyway, moving on...
  9. I suspect most of it will be under the bridge, I don't mind that though as there'll be a decent amount of the gold resin visible elsewhere, and yes, once the final finish is applied it will really be a visual beast!
  10. Nice! Great body colour and neck combo. I had a USA Sterling of the same/similar colour years back. You're in my neck of the woods too! Sadly, no funds for this very fairly priced gem.
  11. Tony knows I refuse to stay in a room that doesn't have manacles!
  12. Back when it was just you and a handful of dinosaurs that resided in Belgium...
  13. The basses can stay forever, but that will mean we have to stay forever. Have the spare room made up, we're on our way!
  14. @Hellzero - Really you should be thanking David Cameron, he will be forever know as the person that orchestrated the demise of Britain! Is there any room in Belgium for me, my wife and my basses? 😁
  15. A quick update... The bass is now really coming along! To my eye the triple dots look great on a wider fretboard!
  16. If I didn't have an ACG a month away from completion I'd be tempted by these. I have a 30.5" ACG that Alan made for me about 2 years ago and it really does prove that short scale and micro scale basses are now truly as good/better than the usual 34" basses.
  17. If you have a ruler or tape measure you could easily tell us exactly. For a high price bass it is useful to provide good details especially when requested by a potential buyer!
  18. Get a Kemper and have it all.
  19. Get rid of that ramp and that is a tasty beast! I've had a few of these (different colours) and I can firmly say that they are some of the best 6 string basses out there! GLWTS
  20. Hi all, I have two Hurcules folding acoustic guitar stands and one fender folding acoustic guitar stand. £30 collected from Wickford for all 3 or £38 posted in the UK.
  21. I have a different garden these days, which will require many more 10 string basses to build an adequate fence! And as you can see, I have already turned Binky into decking...
  22. Hi all, Now have more straps than basses... So I'm offering up this beautiful leather handmade strap from EVO straps. This is just over 3" wide, fully padded and SUPER soft, it makes for really comfortable playing with any bass and has folded edges so doesn't 'cut in' to your shoulder. The current length hole-to-hole is 44" though this can be adjusted by circa 4" either way. (Dunlop strap locks not included!) I'm asking £35 posted or £30 collected from Wickford, Essex.
  23. For those that thought 8 was too many strings, here's an outdoor snap of the Conklin next to its bigger brother, Binky.
  24. @alembic1989 - A lot of Alan's 'odd scale' basses come equipped with custom Newtone strings made to fit the scale of the bass. These may not be Newtone, but that's usual practice for Alan! I've had a set of custom Newtone strings on the 25" Micro-Bee I recently sold and they sound superb, you really wouldn't know your playing a micro-scale bass from the sound and tone.
