  1. Cheap for a UK made Simms bass... trying to see what the catch is! Lol. Definitely UK made?
  2. BayBee is still with me! Happily living life with it's (much) bigger brother!
  3. @triplebass, Stuart has just pipped you to the post... should he change his mind, you're next in line sir.
  4. It's voice activated, you just tell the pickups how you want it intonated and the saddles automatically move. The saddles have an allen key 'lock', you release it and you can slide the saddle up and down up to about 2.5cm. The saddles themselves are like the seat in a photo booth, you spin them round to raise/lower. All very easy and clever!
  5. Yup. 20mm from centre point of string to centre point of string. Oddly, it really feels 'closer' than my 6 string 20mm Streamer SII.
  6. Hi all, So @Hellzero decided he wanted to rid himself of one of his basses, I gladly offered my Bass Rehoming Service and have now taken receipt of this 8 string beast. It's a beautiful bass, the matching headstock cap, fretboard and body top make for a beautiful, simplistic finish. The neck is surprisingly thin and fast with a low action now suited to my preference for tapping. The custom preamp is bright and crisp with good mids for a clear balanced tone across all frequencies. The bridge is a great piece of engineering, simple to use, easy to adjust and aesthetically pleasing. I have since changed the knobs to matching ebony woods knobs that compliment the wooden pickup covers, to my eye it looks bolder and suits the bass better. Playability it much easier than you might think even with a 20mm spacing and 8 strings! All in, it's a beautiful thing!
  7. Hi all, Recently bought this as a project, I had thought when I bought it that it that the frets hadn't been filled thus making for an easy first attempt at fretting a bass, but, the frets are filled! They've been nicely and smoothly filled with wood glue and ebony dust so the lines are visible but not overstated. The body obviously has been treated with home homemade 'relic' treatment. It doesn't have any real dings or dents and the wood underneath looks like it has some nice figuring, Ash perhaps? The scratch plate is aftermarket, it fits but it's the most exact of fits. The neck is lovely, really nice almost birdseye figuring to the maple, almost. It works fine, plays nicely and has a well used look! If you want a beater upper then this is for you, if you want to re-finish the body then you'll have a great fretless. I'm after £100 for it, and can post (neck off in bubble wrap) for £12. (Not insured though). Collection under social distancing is fine too.
  8. Reckon I could get 3 more basses on the sofa at a push...
  9. An update to my picture last year is needed as there have been many changes!!! The basses are in pairs up to a point, and if anyone is interested, below is the list of what they are! 1. 5 String Bay-Bee Bee Bass 2. 10 String Binky Bee Bass 3. De Gier Elevation 6 OBP-3 4. De Gier Elevation 6 Glockenlang 5. Warwick Streamer SII 6 6. Warwick Thumb SC6 7. ACG Salace 6 Short Scale 8. ACG Recurve 9 9. Conklin USA 8 10. Overwatee Progress III 7 11. Yamaha TRB6P 12. Noguera Trinity 8 13. Tanglewood Baron 6 14. Ibanez 1979 Roadster 93 strings in total!
  10. Saul Goodman, his feedback looks legit. If I was in the market for a crusty old Squier I'd bid, lucky for you I'm not! 😁
  11. Realistically, it's all a bit pointless and over engineered! I'm guessing 99% of bassists on 99% of recordings don't have it and I doubt many of us have listened and thought "if only it had a Buzz Feiten tuning system..." I don't know who Buzz is, but I don't like him.
  12. I assume you'll accept a Squier P-Bass if I scratch off 'Squier' and write 'Fbass BN6' on the headstock? Yes? Excellent!
  13. I have seen your Fodera and the Warwick... now they are examples of excellent build quality. Sadly, this guitarron (to me anyway) is not an acceptable quality. You have clearly made no effort to hide any 'problems' so I absolutely believe you are selling it honestly, for that there is no question! And you are of course entitled to ask any price you wish, but for me personally (I only speak for myself) it is quite obvious that this guitarron is not built to a high standard, visible from your pictures. It is yours to sell at any price, but many here on Basschat have an eye for quality! As I say, good luck with the sale! Your Infinity and Fodera are beautiful things.
  14. You don't need to be an expert in Mexican Guitarrons to see that the build quality is drastically lacking in this instrument. A €200 Harley Benton bass or guitar is built with an infinitely better quality that this instrument. There are basic rules that ever the most low budget of luthiers subscribe to, and what is visible in these pictures is far from the most basic of quality controls. To say that these issues are because 'it is Mexican' frankly is insulting to Mexican luthiers. There are a number of builders in Mexico that build basses, guitars and Guitarrons to a standard that far exceeds what I can see of this. Apologies if these comments are harsh, but they are absolutely true.
  15. Assuming he survives the lashes of course...
  16. Can't get much more valvey that the 8 KT88 Mesa valves that live inside this beast... This is simply the best, by a fairly long way, amp I've ever used, and I've used MANY! Can't say much more than that really. VALVES!!!
  17. The build quality shown in your pictures tell me this is 100% not for me. I hope you sell it though!
  18. At €1200 I would think a good luthier would not use screws that go all the way through the wood, or glue a nut like that. My opinion of course, but the build quality looks concerning.
  19. The nut looks quite poorly glued and the 3rd machine head appears to be coming off as well as some of the screws from the other machine heads coming through the wood... are these modifications done after the initial build? I ask because I've always had an interest in these but those point are of a concern, to me they are telling signs of the quality of the build if they are part of the original design.
  20. No problem! Just personal curiosity. I wonder if W&T would consider maybe fitting the electronics outside of the metalwork and perhaps using small high strength magnets under the top wood to affix the scratch plate and metalwork. This would then give the option for the bass to look as it is, or for these pieces to be removed with no visible holes in the wood... then all parties could be catered for! Just thinking out loud!
  21. I really do rate W&T basses, they are exceptionally well built and sound fantastic, I am sure this bass is no exception! But I must say, to my eye, the look of this bass is too 'complex'. For me, the bass would look infinitely better without the metal and plastic bolted to the body which seems to have no function other than to create aesthetics which I think will very much divide people! Does the clear plastic piece and two pieces of metal come off? If so, would you be able to take a photo without them? I am curious to see the bass is a more natural state!
  22. I'm pretty sure he lost credibility with anyone credible! The man was an absolute joke and I would never touch one of his basses again on principle. I have NEVER seen someone in so much denial as Jon. A proper fool.
