  1. I'll buy it.
  2. I went from a 4 string bass straight to a 10 string bass... going to a 5 should phase you!
  3. I mentioned Keanu Reeves! 10 lashes for you sir...
  4. Just a poorly played and poorly shot bit of chordal nonsense with the freshly re-strung ACG 9. Had to do a minor operation on the ACG as somehow the inner battery cable came unsoldered, no idea how! But it's now alive and sounds great! Though I need to brush up on my playing somewhat... Now one for the 8 string USA Conklin and the 8 string Noguera...
  5. 3 more to go then!
  6. @Acebassmusic, that's a lovely one, I have in fact played that bass... the chap who you traded it to (I forget his name!) nearly traded it to me for a Sei 6 some years back. Great bass and the only other USA Conklin I'm aware of in the UK. There must be more surely!
  7. I'd honestly rate these as a notch up from an AD200B. I have a lot of time for the AD200B, but to me, the VBA400 is a better valve amp!
  8. I've not seen a thread for Conklin basses... however it is entirely possible there is one, if so we shall have to engage in 9 rounds of bare knuckle over-arm boxing to determine which stays! So, my offering I have actually owned for a good number of years now and it will NEVER leave my possession as it is utterly amazing in every possible way! Plus it has a Pink Ivory fretboard which is now an endangered species wood so can no longer be used for luthiery, so I've heard. This bass was built as a 'show-stopper' by Bill Conklin himself for Ishibashi Music Company in Japan, literally no expensive was spared in its creation. It has dual active magnetic pickups specifically build for Conklin by Bartolini for this bass, as well as RMI Piezo pickups in the custom bridge saddles AND a full MIDI pickup system too. It has a custom Demeter pre-amp, and for those that know Demeter, you know this is a damn good thing! In addition to the 'tronics, the overall construction is as good as it gets. Light Ash body wings with a think slab of Buckeye Burl on top, the through neck is Zebrawood and Wenge with a Pink Ivory fretboard and Wenge binding. The controls are: Top Row: Magnetic volume, magnetic blend, Piezo volume, MIDI volume. Second Row: Bass, Mid, Treble for the Magnetic pickups. Third Row: Piezo/Piezo and Magnetic/MIDI switch, Up/Down MIDI patch switch. It has a MIDI input as well a dual Neutrik Jack inputs. Swiss army knives compare themselves to this bass for versatility. I'm curious to see what other Conklins are out there, they build some of the best basses I've seen/played and they very rarely come up for sale. Anyone got a Conklin, particularly a USA one?
  9. Any chance of a photo of the rear of the bass?
  10. A pair of the finest ACGs ever made. (In my humble opinion of course!) Ashamedly, I do not believe the 9 string ACG has EVER been re-strung since the day it was built until today. The original owner sold it to me with the string it had on it up until this morning. I sold it some time ago, then bought it back a year or two later and it still had the same strings! I've had it for 4 years or so since and never got round to re-stringing it, but FINALLY it's been re-strung with a fresh set of Kalium strings and man is it good! Like, crazy good! Feels like a brand new bass.
  11. Stu Hamm - The John Goodman of bassists.
  12. Chased Through The Woods By A Rapist by Waking The Cadaver will surely see the room empty fairly quickly. Or maybe Hammer Smashed Face by Cannibal Corpse (who strangely featured in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective). Them be room cleaners unless you can tolerate the blackest of metals!
  13. Lully. I hate flats... rounds are the way to go!
  14. Mine was a Yamaha RBX170. Then an Ibanez 1979 Roadster, then straight to a 10 custom bass (Binky!) Bit of a jump but worth it! +1 for a Yamaha as a 1st bass. 👍😁
  15. I'm sure it'll wipe off if there is. Oh wait, you said 'hum'...
  16. If you can find one, get a Mesa Boogie Strategy Eight:88. I've owned a Marshall VBA400, and an Orange AD200B, both great. Played through an Aguilar DB751 a few times too, again very good. But the Mesa is by far and away the best valve amp, in fact the best amp period, I have ever used. It's magical. (I do know someone selling an AD200B though, let me know if you want a price).
  17. More deals... Tony sent me a Noguera 8, I sent him an Aries Bajadera. Same old same old, another faultless deal! I think this is deal number 64,433,675... all have been super easy! I wonder what our next trade will be as there will surely be more!! Russ
  18. The ones you sold me Tony!
  19. I've owned the 6 string version of both of those basses (several times in fact!) and as much as both basses are very good, the Cort is absolutely the better machine. In my humble opinion of course!
  20. He went with the advice I didn't give! Those Cort basses as exceptionally good things!
  21. In defence of the basses it was a very wide angle shot to get all of them in one photo which has stretched and skewed them a little. They are all very well proportioned in reality! There's no getting around the fact they have wider bodies than a 4 string, but the below 'non-skewed' photos should show them in a true light.
  22. A bítch fiddle you mean? 😂
  23. Good choice, but you should have gone for 6 strings at least!
  24. @therealting This has already been mine! I bought it from someone that had de-fretted it and quite poorly covered the fretboard in epoxy, I had Mike Walsh of Zoot Basses re-fret it for me and sort out the electronics. Lovely bass, I'm just not overly keen on Warrior basses! Traded it to @Hellzero a year or two ago, I can't even remember for what! 😂
