Looking at the itinerary for our next gig in Rotterdam on 18th may we have 2 hours scheduled for load in and soundcheck. I can't imagine ever doing a gig with just a linecheck but then I suppose I'm playing a different kind of venue.

Do you count Squier and Epiphone as cheap copiers? Where would you draw the line?
-
By lightweight flightcase I mean something akin to the SKB iSeries - Almost all my gigs are fly aways - SKB iSeries cases are much lighter than my traditional plywood and metal angle flightcases (and have wheels as a bonus) - this is important for airline baggage allowances. I use an SKB iSeries for my EBMM Sterling and my Precisions - I believe they're not wide enough for a Schecter Corsair bass.
-
I quite fancy a Schecter Corsair bass but my inability to find a suitable proper lightweight flightcase that would fit it put me off. Even Schecter couldn't point me in the right direction.

In my opinion ANY backing track is too much. We don't even use a click live.

What's the next collectable on the second hand marketthen?

I had a Kay Pbass - I blame it for my current back problems. 45 years later my back has still not recovered. Mine went to the council tip. -
Almost all my gigs are fly aways so I have little choice as the bass is always hold luggage - I have yet to experience an airline that allows them to be carry on or even checked at the gate! I have a couple of SKB iSeries hard cases which I couldn't gig without. What makes them special is that they have wheels! It makes dragging one's bass through airports so much easier.

For many years I played a Squier JV P - cost £129 (new) in 1983/4 I was never happy with it. I built a few of basses from parts but was never happy with them either. In 2016 I took the plunge and spent £1475 on a EBMM Sterling 4HH - unseen factory order that took 6 months to arrive. It is far and away the most comfortable bass to play that I have ever owned - and it's quite versatile in its tone too. I absolutely love it. It totally killed my GAS. I recently enquired of the EBMM factory what it would cost to have an identical bass made - they quoted $2,799 ex works - so plus shipping, import duties if any and +UK VAT - so likely to end up the wrong side of £3k. I passed. I wish I'd spent the money sooner when I consider how much I wasted pursuing my 'ideal bass' through building one (make that 3).

Whatever happened to Westone? A school friend of mine had one - it was the first bass I played - i really wanted a Thunder 1A but I couldn't afford one.

Deleting ad pics when bass sold

How do you do that? I can't find any option to delete in 'My Attachments' -
I'm not sure whether I ever met him IRL - I think I did. It's always sad when things like this happen. I'm always a bit clumsy with my words in these situations. RIP Nick

Did the font change briefly just now?
Twigman replied to Twigman's question in Site Issues and Questions
Yeah - it looked different to me for a minute or so then went back to the way it looked before. -
Either that or my PC is doing weird things.

I always ask the lighting guy to never have total darkness on stage. Since I started making this request I’ve not had a problem,

The first song I tried to play was Black Dog by Led Zeppellin - I probably aimed too high for a starter but I did learn the main riff. The first song I played all the way through was a song I wrote myself called The Tree. it was far simpler.

?? I find by ear is best.

Have you tried emailing Ernie Ball? I'm a huge fan of the EBMM Sterling, having a 4HH with a matching headstock. Anyway - it seems they've stopped making the Sterling and it's not available via the customisation tool either. I was curious as to whether I could get myself another Sterling 4HH to my specs so I emailed them. I got a quote about 4 days later for an ex-works price for what I had specified. Once I added shipping and import taxes and fees we were looking at north of £3.5k! - a bit rich for me but they did quote and would do it. Perhaps they'd do the same for a Bongo special.
