  1. I'm after a wireless connection between my bass and my pedal board so I can strut around without getting tangled in my cable. There seem to be many options. I'd like one where the Tx doesn't stick out too far from the bass - my favourite bass is my EBMM USA Sterling 4HH - the output jack is on the bottom edge - i don't want the wireless Tx to be sticking out for perhaps my leg to get caught on it - so flush to the body would be good. Batteries: I'd like them to be rechargeable and be able to cope for at least 5 hours between charges. Ideally I'd like the Rx to be on my pedalboard and run off the pedal board power supply. (T-Rex Chameleon - so 9V/12V/18V DC or 12V AC) Range: I'd like a reliable range of tens of metres ideally. I'd like the system to not require a radio licence in UK/EU or USA. Is there such a package? Link me up with your recommendations please. TIA
  2. My EBMM USA Sterling 4HH is wearing the same strings it came with (early 2017) so over 7 years old now. They're EB Super Slinky 45-100 (2834) and I have been debating whether to change them. I am reluctant to as I know the difference in tone will likely be huge and tbh I quite like the dull thud I'm getting from them now. So I keep putting it off. I have other basses but think the oldest strings are probably from 2008 on my Sqiuer JV P62 - d'Addario half wounds....but that never gets played these days.
  3. My #1 bass is my EBMM USA Sterling 4HH. I was lucky insofar as I managed to order mine new via The Bass Gallery in 2016, delivered 2017, back when they were an EBMM dealer and just before a major price hike. My favourite setting is position 2 (of5 ) on the switch which uses the outer coils of each pickup. Sometimes I'll go for pos3 ( all coils). I absloutely adore mine. I have found that some think it isn't what it is as MM having now their budget line named 'Sterling by Musicman' some think mine is a budget model. It isn't, far from it. The oiled neck is the best I've ever played.
  4. Last week's Visorfest festival set in Spain we were required to do 90 minutes. We often do 75 - 120 minutes and have been known to bore people for longer!
  5. It was just sitting there on a guitar stand during our soundcheck - The Mission soundchecked earlier in the day but all their gear was still in the wings.....I was so tempted to pick it up and have a play but I resisted. Imagine how much trouble I might have got into. I didn't speak to Mr Adams at all but briefly met Mr Hussey just before their set. A memorable night.
  6. To add - Craig Adams had a beautiful Schecter Corsair bass - I thought my GAS had gone but I tell you now that if Andertons had had one in stock when I got home, they would have made a sale. - I'm glad it is special order only.
  7. Not last night but last week. We played at a festival in Spain on the same bill and stage as The Mission and The Charlatans. We had an early slot (19.00-20.30) and the sun set during our set. The festival was still filling up while we played. A few hundred punters at the start of our set to a couple of thousand by the end. We had a great time. The youtube has made me realise just how imperative it is that I attempt to lose some girth pronto. Here is our final song....
  8. Yes I can - it has a strap which holds the neck and fastens with velcro - it's easy enough to reach in, unstick the strap and pull the bass out. Edit: It's easier to extract a bass than put one in in the upright position. The case is probably not stiff enough to put the bass in while upright - I always put it in while the case is laid down.
  9. I love my M80 - my Tecamp Puma900 and 2 leads fit in the outside pocket - makes my life easier.
  10. My ebay order hasn't turned up yet. 😕
  11. Spiceknot - could have ruled the world!
  12. And yes they were - they were hard plastic and too tight to fit on the shafts (oooeeer Mrs).....I await the e-bay purchase which apparently are soft touch and due tomorrow...
  13. Thanks
  14. Have you got a link for those?
  15. Got some arriving tomorrow from Amazon....I bet they're totally different from the old ones but it's only a fiver and from a gift token balance anyway. I was hoping someone might know the exact knob that Dave Hall used but I've trawled CPC, Farnell, RS, Amazon, Ebay, and haven't found exactly the same knobs.
  16. Does anyone know where I can get replacement knobs to exactly match those on my Dave Hall Amps VTI-EQ-DI-Bass-Mk2 ? I seem to have lost one somehow. Pic of pedal - it's the pink one :
  17. Hmmm I wish I had read this yesterday. I put an order in with Thomann last night, my first for 4 years. I ordered an Empress Bass Compressor - it was £50 cheaper from Thomann than Anderton's. Fingers crossed.
  18. I have a EBMM USA Sterling 4HH and all these other basses with the name Sterling makes folk think my bass is a cheap version of itself.
  19. I bought something from the Netherlands on 10th March which was couriered via DHL. The online tracking shows that it cleared customs on 15th March and has shown as 'Planning being made' after 'Departure from the international sorting center' ever since. (today is 5th May) I managed to get a Paypal refund after starting a dispute for non-delivery. The vendor was extremely reluctant and only refunded after a nasty trustpilot review. I wonder if my purchase will ever arrive?
  20. I have a BBE Opto Stomp pedal on my board doing compressor duties...or rather I did until the thing fell apart. - I suppose I could put it back together but tbh I can't be arsed. I found it very subtle and actually wasn't a great fan of it. I'm looking to replace it but I'm out of touch with what's available these days. So could you give me some pointers for an easily controllable compressor that will fit in the space left by the BBE Opto Stomp on my pedal board. Budget isn't really an issue. What's out there and how do they sound?
  21. I shall be going to see Klangphonics next week - a German 'acoustic techno' trio...... I think it's likely to be a fun gig. Here they are playing a vacuum cleaner and an air compressor among other things:
  22. I enjoyed the creations of Mr Thirlwell try this one for size:
  23. I have a 2017 USA EBMM Sterling 4HH It has the slim neck and smaller body and a 5 way switching of the HH ceramic pickups. It totally killed my GAS
