  1. For many years I played a Squier JV P - cost £129 (new) in 1983/4 I was never happy with it. I built a few of basses from parts but was never happy with them either. In 2016 I took the plunge and spent £1475 on a EBMM Sterling 4HH - unseen factory order that took 6 months to arrive. It is far and away the most comfortable bass to play that I have ever owned - and it's quite versatile in its tone too. I absolutely love it. It totally killed my GAS. I recently enquired of the EBMM factory what it would cost to have an identical bass made - they quoted $2,799 ex works - so plus shipping, import duties if any and +UK VAT - so likely to end up the wrong side of £3k. I passed. I wish I'd spent the money sooner when I consider how much I wasted pursuing my 'ideal bass' through building one (make that 3).
  2. Whatever happened to Westone? A school friend of mine had one - it was the first bass I played - i really wanted a Thunder 1A but I couldn't afford one.
  3. How do you do that? I can't find any option to delete in 'My Attachments'
  4. I'm not sure whether I ever met him IRL - I think I did. It's always sad when things like this happen. I'm always a bit clumsy with my words in these situations. RIP Nick
  5. Yeah - it looked different to me for a minute or so then went back to the way it looked before.
  6. Either that or my PC is doing weird things.
  7. Adam Clayton? myriad Fenders and Warwicks
  8. I always ask the lighting guy to never have total darkness on stage. Since I started making this request I’ve not had a problem,
  9. The first song I tried to play was Black Dog by Led Zeppellin - I probably aimed too high for a starter but I did learn the main riff. The first song I played all the way through was a song I wrote myself called The Tree. it was far simpler.
  10. ?? I find by ear is best.
  11. Have you tried emailing Ernie Ball? I'm a huge fan of the EBMM Sterling, having a 4HH with a matching headstock. Anyway - it seems they've stopped making the Sterling and it's not available via the customisation tool either. I was curious as to whether I could get myself another Sterling 4HH to my specs so I emailed them. I got a quote about 4 days later for an ex-works price for what I had specified. Once I added shipping and import taxes and fees we were looking at north of £3.5k! - a bit rich for me but they did quote and would do it. Perhaps they'd do the same for a Bongo special.
  12. After my new PSU arrived I integrated my Shure wireless receiver, replacing the old tuner. My simple board:
  13. Bizarrely it seems me posting this prompted some action! My order is suddenly scheduled for delivery this afternoon! Let's see what happens.
  14. Were you logged in to your Thomann account when you placed the order? If not then the payment may well be taken but they might not be able to link the order to your Thomann account.
  15. I just checked my previous order (Feb 24) - Ordered Thursday 1st Feb 17.28 Shipped Thursday 1st Feb 21.42 Delivered Tuesday 6th Feb 13.31
  16. I drilled out the feet on my Nano+ and fitted some jacknuts and tall rubber feet. It was a simple job. The bits to do it cost less than a tenner.
  17. Nope: is the latest update on Thomann's site - dated last Thursday. This order is kit to upgrade my pedal board to integrate my recently acquired wireless system (new psu and some pedalboard tidy up stuff) - i had hoped to complete it in time for next rehearsal, this Sunday.
  18. I haven't even got that one yet.....
  19. It used to be that one could track one's parcel from the moment it left Thomann as it was passed through various warehouses across the continent. I used to enjoy watching where it went on googlemaps.... So that is no longer a thing? BOO!
  20. Over the years I have bought many items from Thomann. I placed an order last Monday for the first time in a year. In the past I have found that my order gets picked and packed either same or next day and within a couple of days I have a DHL tracking number and the order arrives within about 4 days of ordering. Not this time. I ordered on Monday morning, got my notification of shipping late on Thursday evening with a DHL tracking number that is not yet recognised by DHL's tracking system. Have Thomann slowed things down? Has anyone else experienced longer delivery times recently? I would have ordered from a UK supplier but I couldn't find anyone that had what I wanted in stock.
  21. I have several apps which I bought (and PAID for) which worked well on earlier IOS (apple) but do not run on IOS 18. The writers of the apps (one of which cost me £10.95) tell me that there is not enough demand to develop these apps for the current OS and thus have been discontinued. Seems fair enough. its like if you buy software designed to run on Windows XP but upgrade your OS to Windows10 expecting the software to still work.
