Buying a Fender as a potential investment is very risky. Forget the money side of it and pretend in 10 years you'd get the same money back for (+/- inflation), do you still want it ?
Think I saw this on a website marked down from £750 or so. @AndyTravis and I determined it was mid 2000s and basically a Cort. Decent for price but forget anything about its age being accurate.
I know it may seem daunting, but knowing how to do a setup yourself will save your so much hassle, time and money. It's hard to really get so wrong that it can't be put back in a couple of minutes.
Generally speaking - there's 2 things to adjust, the bridge saddles, and truss rod. Got any pics of the bridge saddles and neck from the side close up (around 12th fret)? We can probably point you in the right direction.
Sorry - decided to keep it
2005 Tobias Toby Pro 4 in Violin Sunburst. In 8/10 condition, fitted with brand new Dunlop Superbrights.
Wenge/Maple 5 piece neck through with solid flamed maple wings. Has been upgraded with 9v Seymour Duncan STC-3P 3 band preamp (apx £150 new) with EQ contour switch (treble boost but can be altered on internal pots).
No access to a scale, but it feels about 7.5lbs and is the lightest bass currently here.
Postage available in good condition Gator hardcase for £50 inc shipping. Otherwise collection from Tamworth area (but I will meet up within apx 30 mins drive of M42 J10).
No trades please 😊
Nothing drastic, just evolutions on previous instruments. The green SR looks interesting, but close up it looks like the bass a leprechaun would play:
Additionally, the square end of the fretboard REALLY bothers me. They did such a nice job on the body end - why make it look so unfinished ?!
Heavy-gauge 1" tubular steel frame
Chrome plated finish
Foam padded seat top
360-degree revolving swivel
These are around £90 new currently, get it half price and also save yourself 10 minutes building it.
Collection only Tamworth (B78)
I faced adversity today and did NOT buy the gorgeous Yamaha TRB1006 in red I saw of which I have wanted since 2005. Hopefully, I can maintain this posture for the most part, and hope to buy fewer than 4 this coming year (with a similar or higher number sold).
@AndyTravis Are we placing bets on my success ?
Despite some serious browsing, I can't find anything I really want that doesn't somehow duplicate what I have already.
I'll definitely be buying less than 2020 (12 basses, 2 full rigs).
Maybe. Most of my purchases are made with the intention of selling again quite soon after. Let's call it 'prospecting'.
However - a couple of them have surprised me and are still here. Will they be in 3 months ? Depends, if something more desirable appears at a price I approve of, they may go. However I can't see myself selling the BB415.
It's been there quite a while. I've noticed cheaper instrument don't sell as quickly there as the expensive ones. I sold 2 with them under £200, both were going for that or more on eBay and it took about 6 weeks.
+1 from me. Good comms and friendly chat. You will find their stuff on eBay and Reverb marked up significantly, I believe this is to direct people to their main website for the 'real price' to avoid the preposterous fees on those platforms.
I'm hugely biased to Yamaha. Not much else to add as without trying them side by side I can't comment with authority.
However you can easily replace an Aerodyne.
