I believe the confusion is caused by the custom shop decal. From the pics it does look fairly apparent it was added on post factory (see scuffing to area).

It seems humour is lost on some people nowadays .
I'm horrendously picky when it comes to bands. Any who have a whiff of self-appreciation or delusions of fame I steer clear of. I've learnt it's better to wait 6 months for a good one than have your time and patience destroyed by a bunch of no hopers.
Raising the action on a Stingray is a bit like castrating it. It loses it's top end and all the balls that make it sound so good in the first place. A bit of string buzz is all part of the fun.
If you were to do so - you need a goal in mind. What about the BB404 do you dislike that you feel needs to change ? They are decent basses and well made like most Yamahas.
My Dad picked up a Precision copy for £30 in a pawn shop. It's Lake Placid Blue with maple neck and fingerboard.. it needs a bit of work (new scratchplate and a cleanup) but other than that it isn't too bad. The neck is monstrous.. anyone know anything about them ? Google didn't tell me anything at all..
Got pics but only on my phone at the moment.
The East preamp is apparently designed to be a copy of the original 70's Musicman preamp... so I expect if the problem is in the design it may carry over to the East.
Not according to their own website it isn't .

EDIT: I seem to remember comparing it to my RBX775 (35") and it was an inch less distance from nut to bridge saddle than the Yam. I could of course be remembering it wrong .
Well if you dont have pics, then What fretboard is it? single hum? HH? HS?
If it's a 90's then it'll be H only.
I find being content to be a temporary state of mind, usually just after buying new gear. A few weeks/months later then the old "oh wouldn't it'd be nice to have that too" creeps in .
