1.

Y'see, that's a great part. It fits the song perfectly. That's taste. The thread knocking about the other day that went wrong, of someone slapping over testcard music / porn soundtrack, wasn't tasteful, IMO. It was too busy and left no holes. Incidentally, despite what some people think, I don't hate slap. One of the albums that made me listen to bass in my formative years featured Marcus Miller.
  2.
It's like they have different features and they just draw numbers out of a velvet bag. "What's 23, Chad?" "23 is blocks but no binding, Chip" "OK, next up... number 41" "That's a Tele style headstock, Chip" "OK, intern, draw that up on Kisakae, let's see what it looks like"
No, I think this one is more calculated than that.
  3.
True but wouldn't they look so much better with a rosewood-n-blocks board than maple?
Yes. Yes, they would.... And one day I shall have a PJ in this configuration....
  4. To be fair, I imagine there's a bit of demand for a P with blocks. Should Fender ignore it?
  5.
Blocks on a P? in the seventies? I don't think so.
Ha ha.. poor Fender. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.
  6. This has been around for a few days now, but I don't think we've done it yet.. apologies if I've missed it. More info here.

Awesome.. how did that come about? Given that Jerry Scheff lives down the road from you, it's even cooler that you got the phone call and he didn't.
  8. ....so on behalf of some of the other members on this thread, sorry to the OP if you got the impression some of us have no sense of humour.
  9. I have no idea who the bloke is. I just thought it was an awesome thread.
  10. Fender-wise, the only 'factory' examples I can think of were a matching special order LPB and CAR pair, that had bound necks and matching headstocks that popped up a while ago. They looked real enough. Lovely.
  11.
Too busy for what though mate?
For my taste.
  12.
The player CLEARLY has taste, certainly in this video.
I disagree. Even if I put my slap-head on(!) I actually think he's a bit too busy.
  13. Ah, that's a shame. You gave it a bloody good go, though!
  14. Here y'are...
  15. I always liked this...
  16.
maybe he could post something playing the style of music you like... we would all be happy??
I was clumsily trying to make a point to Pete. Sometimes it's hard to get excited about technical ability if, musically, it ain't ringing your bell.
  17. I had an idea in my head what Greenslade sounded like, and it was nothing like this. Quite enjoyable, that.
  18.
What about the bass playing? I think the criticism about the backing track is a bit harsh. The guy is obviously very good.
Maybe, but I'd like to hear him posting something worth listening to.
  19.
Correcting factual inaccuracies would still be better done by PM....
I agree, but if the seller chooses to ignore it, then they're fair game IMO.
  20. I can understand the price thing, but I still disagree with this bit 100%.
4. If you have a concern with the authenticity/originality/provenance/description etc of an item for sale, do not comment on the seller's thread as these comments will be removed by a moderator. If you believe an item to be fraudulent then please PM a moderator and we will do our best to arbitrate - otherwise simply move along.
This makes no sense, IMO.
  21.
Or volunteered Michael for the gig!
I'm on Jollies, so I suggested John.
  22. Worry not, people! The gig I did with them was a wedding. Same set, pretty much. It was all fine.
  23.
I am guessing that whoever booked the band have seen them before? (but £50 ??? for 7 hours)
It sounds crazy, but these guys are just happy to play. You know the sort... dead enthusiastic and that.
  24. Ha.. I've been there with the same band. Canny lads, they are...! I hate that Emotional Fish song. I'd never heard of it either. Rescue Blues is nice...
