1.
The room is a bog standard rehearsal room with a solid floor, but poor sound in general. I haven't used the ext cab yet.
The Walkabout isn't going to shine in that kind of environment. It needs room to breathe.
2. SHAZAM! http://www.newmooninsurance.com/musical/
3. Here's couple of notables for me... Deacy demonstrating how sloppiness disappears in the mix... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aNogqF7Bac Not bad for a sax player: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z91l_lPz1oc And finally... I'm sorry, Mr. Jones. No matter how much you protest, you did use flats in the old days: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ANwQW8aspI
4.
Getting a great tone at home is pointless if you play in a band. I found that out by spending ages setting things up, getting to a rehearsal & finding I didn't like the sound & put everything to flat.
Tru dat. I had a loan of a fairly large 15" recently. When I was tinkering with it in the living room, it sounded weak and boxy. But at the gig, where it had room to breathe, it was completely different. It opened right up and sounded huge.
5. As previous posters have mentioned, that lump of iron is responsible for more than just weight...
6. I always found the WA12 to be a bit flubby around the bottom. I imagine the 15 would be a bit of a struggle in the wrong room...
7.
The blurb indicates they are the cabs with weakest bottom end of the range?
Not 'weak' - after all, what would be the point of a bass cab with 'weak' lows? Just very punchy, defined lows.
8.
They are not affiliates, they are forum sponsors (if I'm not mistaken!) which I imagine means they contribute donations to the running of the site in exchange for the benefits of a subforum to help highlight their products? I'm sure waterofthetyne will be alone to explain property as soon as he spots this! *edit* he was!
It's not like I'm predictable or anything...
9. Here's your answer...
10. 600 quid? Is that all? Have you taken leave of your senses?
11. I've used the tweeterless 1126 and the old-style (i.e. larger) H115. Both were great, but the H115 resonated with me more because I'm old-school. However, I know the Streamliner doesn't scrimp on the lows... that makes me wonder if the 1126 might be a better match. That's just a hunch, mind. Plus, I have no experience of the revised H115.
12.
I like midrange, and a solid bottom end but with definition:
In that case, IMO you'll love a pair of S112s.
13.
Arguably it might be a bad setup or indeed my taste but I think there's more to it than that.
I doubt you'll find an off-the-shelf Status with a bad setup. Whereas you'll be lucky to find an off-the-shelf Fender with *any* sort of setup. This doesn't help their reputation one jot.
14. Yup - WA + TKS 12's = heaven. It really is.
15.
I would like to buy an amp that has been built with care & pride & not by a company who main concirn is profit because it shows . In my opinion .
Alternatively, the latter could be building it to a price point that's within reach of more people.
16.
And now on its way to me
Excellent... I LOVE the 115. This can only be another flavour of that goodness.
17. I like the club thing. It's not a badge-waving exercise... it's nice to know where there's a concentration of people who can answer your question or share their experience about a certain piece of gear, especially if it's not mainstream.
18. Eeeeh.. I've been on since 2002. That surprised me. It gets a bad rap on BC, but I like it. It has a huge user base so the number of idiots increases, too. There's a lot of specialist knowledge on there, but TBH I prefer BC as a community. For me, TB is for discussing stuff that's happening over there before it gets over here, really.
19. Delete your temporary files, maybe?
20.
So this little number came today...
Yum.
21.
That's all fine, but aren't "pub" gigs where gear is all thrown into a trailer or van? More chance of heavy things then falling on the cab, not the other way around. I'm sure a lightweight cab would bounce of a bass bin but would a bass bin just bounce of a lightweight cab?
Of course it'll vary, but I'd have thought pub gig would mean there's more chance of the gear being carefully put in the boot of a car with covers on it. Stuff going in the van or a trailer is more of a touring band thing, surely..?
22.
Probably the funky people will like this (?). (this cd: 71 minutes of great music!!).
He sounds like he's in a bit of a hurry to get to the end of the track. I'm glad the drummer's bang-on to keep him right.
23. You could always get a couple of TKS 212s and fasten lead weights to 'em.
24. Yay Cowpoke! Always wanted one.
