Prepare to have your head melted. Well worth the effort, though. The band’s musical evolution over the 10 years they existed is remarkable.

Absolutely monster musician.

Low sounds pants compared to the rest. Any advice?
wateroftyne replied to sirmuppet's topic in Repairs and Technical
If you stick your ear on the top horn and play it acoustically, does it sound mushy compared to the others? If it does, maybe put the electronics investigation on the back-burner and focus on set-up issues (or the possibility it might just be 'one of those' basses). Hope you get it sorted, tho. -
Some of my favourite bass tones are P with a pick and - I suspect - not much in the way of mid-scoop.

I hope they paid him for it..!

A banger from Warren Zevon… And… have we done Carouselambra yet? A disco-prog masterpiece.

I would agree with this.

Tone of roundwounds with tone rolled off ≠ Tone of flats

Just go with the flats. Remember tho - they’re all about the mids. Don’t scoop them out.

Ah, Essex Recording Studios. Love them. A couple of weeks ago, the family of a a dear, departed friend put his guitars through auction. Essex paid about £6,500 for this one, and they're trying to flip it for a canny mark-up: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185819410017?fbclid=IwAR0XG4EzMQm-E6JQlCETFOCFmAXWVhDrwWfsn6AzR4bL4BpevvjEhoKNLck And of course, they're fully entitled to do this. Good luck to 'em. Kind-of.

Passive ear protection for gigs & rehearsals?
wateroftyne replied to Horizontalste's topic in General Discussion
I wear them for gigs 100% of the time. I'm not sure if I understand the definition of ear fatigue, but I've also taken to wearing them in some situations where there's a lot going on, even if it's not necessarily at dangerously loud levels. They just help things feel a little... calmer. And because of the flat response, you can still have conversations. -

A couple of beauties under the hammer at the Gardiner Houlgate guitar auction this morning. A lovely-looking 66P 'burst refin went for £3000, and a 63P Oly refin went for £4400. Both also subject to a +26% buyer's premium.
