1.
I was in a Floyd tribute which had Chris Evans ex-wife as lead vocalist! We used to rehearse just outside Lenny Henry's house - the one he shared with Miss French. We were called Piper At The Gates Of Dawn. I didn't bother taking my coat off.
Superb 😂
 2.
Classic head! My first 'proper' head was a Series 6 TE with a GP7 pre. Loved it. Also it should be noted that when you're not using it as an amp, you can rest it on its font face and use the heatsink as a letter rack…
😂
 3. I think Water's lyrics are fantastic, both with Pink Floyd and his solo work. They're noted as being dark and thought provoking, but there is also humour which many people seem to over look. The same with Morrissey too I suppose.
 4. Old TE heads are like buses.......... Type BUMP 😆
 5. Picked up a Zolkow 3 band preamp off this very forum and it sounds amazing! Kept the original stock pick up as that already sounded pretty good. The problem was that the original preamp didn't do a great deal (especially the treble - that really didn't do anything at all). The preamp came already connected to 4 pots, including 1 stacked. One of the other pots was used as a blend between 2 pickups in a former life, so our guitarist and tech maestro suggested using it as a split coil/humbucker blend. So I've finished up with volume, single coil/humbucker blend, stacked treble & bass, middle. It sounds great, loads of tone options and plenty of umph! I'd recommend the same to anybody else with an active Stingray copy looking for an upgrade.
 6. Just bought a Zolkow 3 band preamp off Bazza. Great item, great communication, top fella! Couldn't recommend highly enough. Trade with confidence 😉. Many thanks again
 7. Now on flea bay type bump!!!
 8.
I had one of those, and I modified it to run passively. I ran each coil of the pickup to a separate volume, and stuck a second output jack on the unused pot location.
Interesting ........ I'm probably wanting to keep it active so it can keep up with my other basses without having to faff with the amp volume too much.
 9. I will post if necessary, I just always prefer not to 😉
 10. Hi all My Trace AH350SMX head is up for grabs! I'm finding myself just using my AH250smx head and recently acquired 1215 smx combo with TE cabs in a variety of combinations. These options pretty much cover all scenarios that I will ever face so this big boy is just sat redundant.

350 watts @ 8 ohms (700 @ 4 ohms peak)
Original grey tolex covering in excellent condition
12 band graphic
Solid state/valve input blend
UV light - fully working
Complete with Roqsolid padded slip cover
Trace lovers will know what these heads are all about and this really is a cracking example. Collection/meet up preferred (South Yorkshire) [s]More pictures to follow this evening[/s]
 11. Hi all All in the title really. I've just picked up a lovely natural finish Vintage brand 'stingray' type bass at a bargain price with a view to modding it (it's a 3 band, 4 knob version). I've set it up with some new strings and it feels and plays great. I was just wondering what mods other BCers had done to the pick up and/or preamp?
 12. Feels like a Monday, pre fleabag BUMP !!!!!
 13.
Anyone on here know where to source a replacement cab badge for a Trace Elliot? I know of only britishaudioservice, but £20-odd seems a bit extortionate?
My thoughts too. I'm looking too 👀
 14. Hi all A back to basics cheap as chips passive bass with a P-J pick up configuration and Volume/blend/tone controls. Black with a rosewood board, this bass is In very good condition with just a couple of minor scratches on the body. I've only ever used it at home as it's never been required as the back up it was intended to be. Prefer collection from South Yorkshire but as always, I may be willing to meet up for a shady motorway services type handover . Cheers Edit - the pics show strap locks but the bass is now as nature intended with it's original strap buttons fitted.
 15. I'm tempted but I think I've got all bases pretty much covered now with my SMX heads and newly aquired combo. This is a bargain though 😄 GLWTS
 16. +1. For me, any Trace SMX amp will cut through like nothing else. You could always get one as a back up for the Ampeg 😉
 17.
For sale my Trace Elliot AH250 bass head (250W into 8ohm, 500W into 4ohm), this is one of the good trace heads (the classic tolex covered ones not the carpeted stuff!), it’s loud! Loud enough to pretty much keep up with my Orange AD200 all valve monster (for which it functions as a backup) so don’t be fooled by the low number of watts, it’s no “class D lightweight”! Sounds really good, everything works as it should, it’s in pretty good cosmetic condition for its age (90's i think). Selling as I'm after a bass terror for a closer match to my main amp. £150 collected in/around Sheffield Try-outs can be arranged as can shipping if need be (shipping at buyers cost). Happy to consider trade with appropriate cash adjustment for a bass terror
Cracking head. I hope it's going (or it's gone) to a good home
 18.
my traces are a GP7 7215 combo with a 2103H extension cab. I'm not looking to sell, but does anyone have an idea of value on these? Curious to see how good a deal I got. They're in mint condition, with the green back lighting on the combo still working. I also now have an MIJ P Bass so really itching to get hooked up with a decent band again and let rip! Thanks
It's a tricky one to state a value. There are so many bargains being picked up at the moment. Most people who are Trace nuts would agree that the old skool stuff is always a bargain, as to those who love this gear it's top quality kit at cheap as chips prices so therefore incredible value for money. To other people it's old, heavy and very unfasionable and therefore of very little worth. As my old dad used to say, it's only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.
 19. Bump for my gorgeous old bass. This plays beautifully and if I had the cash I'd be buying it back! Sorry to hear that you're having to sell. Glwts
 20. We played on Saturday night. Out and out classic rock, Zep, Cream, Free etc, etc. Had a cracking gig and the place was rocking. A young couple at the bar spent the whole gig bouncing around and appearing to thoroughly enjoy themselves too. I came off and was approached by said young couple and after exchanging a few kind words, the guy told me he used to play bass. He then asked "do you do any of your own songs?" "No" I replied, "just covers". "Cool" he said, "what sort of stuff do you do?" I sh*t ye not.................
