1. Better pics added. There are a few scuffs on the tolex but they honestly look worse in the photos than they do in the flesh. A great bit of classic kit in fully working order.
2.
Sad but true, a lot of audiences will look at a band using small 1x12s and dismiss them as not being the real thing - or at least that`s how it seems in some scenes. And the daft thing is - or at least I think it`s daft - is we have lots of headroom to produce super clean bass sounds, yet many of the classic basslines when listened to isolated are full of gain/clankiness.
Very true Lozz. I spend my time making the sound 'more dirty'
3.
Mine's still for sale over on the marketplace if you're still looking
It's a shame you're miles away 😞
4. I know this sounds rather odd but I didn't get on with the gen 1 Compact I had. The Super 15 sounds great to my ears but the Compact on its own seemed to lack something. As you say it's the same driver so it must be down to the cabinet - or my crazy ears! I'm also not looking to spend a huge amount.
5. Sold my Squier VM Jazz to Mark. Had a great chat about all things bass and the good old days of Carlsbro music shops! Top fella, trade with confidence.
6. Well I missed out on that one so still on the hunt for something similar. Any recommendations gratefully received 😉

8. Hi all I bought this on a whim a couple of months back. Played it twice and it's been hung on the wall untouched ever since. There are a couple of things I'm after at the moment so seeing as I'm never going to play this in anger, it's got to go. It's in superb condition with just a few marks on the fingerboard from the roundwound strings that I've tried to capture in the photos. There's no case with the bass so collection from South Yorkshire please, but a meet up may be possible. The only trades I may be interested in are an Aguilar Tonehammer 350 or 500, or a small lightweight 1x15 cab (obviously plus cash) Cheers
9. Hi all Well it's not getting much use at the moment so I'm selling my wonderful Trace SMX combo. It's from the early to mid-nineties with the grey tolex covering and the 'continuous' green line on the fascia.

250 watts (500 peak)
Solid State/Valve input blend
12 band graphic
Pre-shapes 1 & 2
Dual Band compressor
D.I. output
Pop-out castors fitted
Complete with Roqsolid fitted cover
I've attached a couple of pics of the actual combo plus a couple of scans from the original Trace brochures of the time. Anybody who has used one of these will know that they are a great bit of professional kit, built like tanks and extremely powerful. Edited - Possible trades: GK Neo 115t mkIII cab. Collection ideally from South Yorkshire but I'm not averse to a motorway services meet up.
10. Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm just waiting for a response from the seller on this one 😉 Cheers
11. Hi all I'm looking for a small and portable 1x15 cab for when my BF Super 15 is overkill (I just prefer 15s to 12s). There's a GB Focus 115t for sale on here at the moment. Does anybody have experience of these cabs as I can't seem to find too many reviews? Cheers
12.
Cheers mate, it sure is. I didn't really get on with the oiled/waxed finish & it was starting to look like a weathered fence.
Yeah, I had a white 2007 a couple of years back that went the same way. Yours now looks the same finish as the std Precision I recently had, black with a golden gloss neck. Gorgeous 😍. I may be dropping Mr Shucker a line.........
13. Rip an absolute one of a kind
14.
MmmmmmmmmMusicman
Hats off to you, that neck now looks gorgeous. I might have to look into this on my black beauty :-)
15.
I agree, it's not worth 'fretting' about is it?
😂😂😂😂 Haha, fretting. Do you see what he did there? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
16. I'm a self confessed Trace bitch! I've tried lots of amps but still go back to my Gp12SMX's. I do think it's worth pointing out that Trace amps, certainly the older SMX models, can produce a huge range of sounds. I've been to gigs where the bass sounds sh*te but I wouldn't blame the TE amp, I'd blame the player for setting it up that way. Even just the 2 pre shapes available are like chalk and cheese but once you switch those off and go for the graphic, the sound options are almost endless from the fantastic to the horrifically bad.
17. 95% of the time i don't use any effects, but I have a Zoom b3 on which I use the tuner and (occasionally) the chorus/delay. I also have a VT bass for a bit of crunch when required. Once I'd bought my Line6 G30 wireless I wanted to get everything nice and tidy so I bought a pedal train mini and it's just the job. 😃
18. I had one of these back in the day. Great sound and very powerful pickups if I recall. GLWTS
19. This must be the bargain of the year 😮. Standing in front of that must be wonderful! GLWTS
20. That's very nice indeed 😍
21. Just sold my Trace 2103H cab to Simon. Great communication, prompt payment and a motorway services meet up. What more could you ask for?? Top fella, trade with confidence
22. Hmmm. Decisions, decisions......... Many thanks for your input guys, much appreciated.
23. Decisions, decisions. It's purely carrying 2 basses from the car. Am I just a lazy git???
24. A cautionary tale............. I bought a lovely used 2003 Stingray from this very forum recently. Once I'd got it home and plugged it in I realised that the output was very low. I took the battery out then back in again, then frantically and repeatedly gave the pots a good twist. Next thing, almighty crackling and bizarre buzzing noises. Panic ensued....... My first thoughts were at best the pots needed changing and at worst, the 3 band eq was toast :-( The following morning I tried the bass again with the same results. I messaged the seller and he was fantastic, instantly saying that if there was a problem I could return the bass. I was all set to take it in to my local repairer when the seller advised me to check the seating of the battery as he had replaced it the day before and that he had, in the past had a Stingray that did strange things when the battery wasn't seated/contacting correctly. So armed with cotton buds and some contact cleaner, I removed the battery from its housing and gave the contacts in the housing a good old clean. Put the battery back in and hey presto, crystal clear full fat 3 band loveliness 😃 So the moral of the story is, if you have an issue with the electrics on your Stingray - check the battery first!
