1.
Does this happen often? I have never seen these type of patterns on a maple neck before, certainly not on a high-end instrument.
Both my 2006 Fender Precision 62 Reissue and my 2008 Lakland Skyline Decade have these so-called knots showing on the back of the neck. The Fender has three of them. I've never had a problem with either neck.
 2.
I still haven't seen the pics. Did anyone copy them? Or are they actually the ones posted by gjones in post #35? Confused
But they aren't the full set.
 3. I have to say that looks very nice.
 4. Learning two fingers alternating is good but there something to be said for being able to use one finger as well. Particularly on straight four or eight parts you'll often get a much greater evenness of tone using just one finger. I find that my index and ring fingers never sound quite the same, although probably no one except me is going to notice.
 5.
Entertainment
No, I insist that it was art.
 6.
This forum really is a powderkeg at times
Yes, one minute you think you're having a conversation and the next minute someone is saying 'You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!'.
 7.
That... is mental!
... ah, but is it any good for metal?
 8.
All this backstabbing of someone who's not allowed access to defend himself makes me a bit uncomfortable. It's not like slagging off Jeff Berlin or Alain Caron. Inti is a superb player who has a rare combination of technical skill and expressive nuanced playing. He has a very entrenched POV and you won't change his mind however the validity and considered logic or sense in your argument. Leave him alone or join TB and discuss it with him over there.
Nige, while I have some real sympathy with the point you're making, Inti did pick the argument and then pursue it.
 9.
Indeed! Yeh, c'mon, guys, make it easy for us not in the know.............
There are artists and there are entertainers. The latter are also knows as clowns. Art is good while entertainment is bad. It got abusive. That's roughly the gist of it and the threads all got locked.
 10.
Looks like I've joined the wrong forum
Not if you are an entertainer.
 11. He had name of Inti at first then changed it to, I think, anitloco, then disappeared.
 12. Excellent, and better than some of the bassists we've had on here.
 13. Sometimes I look at my bass playing equipment. I always carry my hands and my fingers with me and often look at them closely.
 14.
A wee side note: One of my favourite albums which I never tire of listening to is John Mayall's 'USA Union'. Larry Taylor plays great bass on the album. Freddie Robinson also plays some very tasty guitar.
I really like that album too.
 15.
Always had "something to say" though.
Typical of the young generation.
 16.
No they didn't - they were too busy singing to put anybody down!
... and they were trying to be friendly.
 17. ... it has shuffled off this mortal coil ...
 18.
Polyurethane laquer everywhere except front of headstock , which is nitro .. I believe
OK, I see.
 19.
Hi all .. I am only telling you what I was told .. Put up the pics for people to look at not make me feel like liar .. John
No one is calling you a liar.
 20.
From Ms. Kaye's website: "Beginning in 1969, she wrote her first of many bass tutoring books, "How To Play The Electric Bass" effectively changing the name of Fender Bass to Electric Bass and began teaching 100s of Electric Bass students, many of them now famous themselves." Funny that - I bought an Electric Bass in Germany in 1963, at least that's what I asked for in the shop and I came out with a Hofner Bass.
In recording studios in the USA in the 1950s and 1960s, even I think into the 1970s, it was common to refer to the 'electric bass' as the 'Fender bass'. It was even written that way sometimes on album covers, when musicians were credited.
 21.
I have seen smelly guitars before, damaged by years of gigging in smokey pubs. But this does look quite extreme. My theory is that it was caused by smoke damage from a fire rather than chain smoking Rastafarians. But however it got into this state, I have to say it's a lovely restoration job.
It is a lovely restoration and I don't doubt that tobacco or marijuana smoking or having an open fire can have serious (although perhaps not this serious) effects but the story didn't seem to make sense.
 22.
Aha.....an enthusiastic smoker and guitarist, from Edinburgh, has just told me that 'Guitar Guitar' got a hold of 81 smoke damaged guitars all in the same state (but different vintages). Would that be the shop you got this one?

I think everyone the shop bought was in the same sort of state , they had been hanging on a rope around the living room . believe it or not it plugged in a played straight off and i hardly had to adjust the action..
I'm slightly confused. Were there 81 guitars all hanging from a rope in a living room full of smokers?
 23.
Offers will be listened to for Hillman Avenger in brown with vinyl roof - 10 days MOT and 2 weeks Tax.
Yes, very good, but which ten days and which two weeks?
