1. It's tat but it's well priced tat. One day I'll buy a Kay, start converting and upgrading it, get really bored and sell it in parts at a loss. It's what I do.
2. cheers for the pic and nice bass
3. If you have any pics of the back they would be much appreciated. I'mtrying to identify a cheap body I bought and think it's a Squier Affinity. Cheers.
4. Ash is a great person to deal with and THAT is an amazing looking bass. Good luck woth the sale.
5. Urgh. It's gross. Make it stop!
6.
Thanks for that. More power to your elbow!
Yeah! It's slow progress! I think some prat has used car paint on it,it's so hard to shift.
7. In my experience, I'd say the necks on the 60s CV precisions are among the thinner/smaller P bass necks you'll find. I've played some absolute bloody logs in the name of P bass necks in the past, both Fender and copies. Might be an idea to whip the neck off a precision and replace with a Jazz one if that is uncomfortable for you. I doubt you;ll get anything noticeably more manageable. Or another idea could be to buy a PBass and re shape the neck to whatever contour you like. Won't help with the width but might make it more comfortable. I really don't know why neck re shaping isn't more common in guitar/bass circles. It's a piece of piss to do.
8. Against my better judgement this is now withdrawn. I thought I need to stop being a lazy bastard and have continued stripping the finish (about halfway through now). Once it's stripped I'll either build it into a cheap bass or re list on here. If I do relist it I'll PM you Paul. Cheers.
9. I've never known why yamaha BBs aren't more popular. People seem to labour to sell them on here despite low prices. Peter Hook is a highly revered bass player (and rightly so in my humble opinion) but he smacked the hell out of his BB for far longer than he did his bloody Hondo.
10. Good to hear you got your cash back. That looks awful.
11. If you're desperate for the money you really could do with a pic mate. That would walk at that price if people could actually seewhat it looks like.
12. The thread's alive again! Though the body will be nitroed black, I bloody love the feel of tung oil necks so applied my first thin coat of the nutty stuff today. Will probably do 8 -10 coats over the coming weeks. It really makes the grain look beautiful.
13. Wizard 84s are really deep and bassy with lots of detail in the sound. I have them in my Mex Jazz Bass and it sounds amazing.
14. I have a nice Columbus neck I'm currently re finishing and was wondering if making it fretless would be a pain in the arse given it has bound plastic edges and block inlays? I've not seen a fretless like this which makes me think the answer is no.
15. That's the way to sell a vintage bass on ebay. Brilliant pics which totally authenticate the bass. I absolutely love it.
16. Pean, you don't wanna get into this place mate, as ace as it is it gives you serious GAS for a new bass every month.
17. Before blowing £1000 on a precision make sure you try one of these: Classic Vibe It can't be overstated how wonderful these instruments are. I'll never buy another precision.
18.
good price...but hearing aid beige
Personally I love the colour! Could do with a new scratchplate though, maybe black.
19. Gotta love Paco De Lucia. It was his brother who was the bass player in his band if I remember correctly. Never liked the look of the Gibson basses myself but played a stunning fretless one once. It sounded as big as a house.
20. Loads of rubbish spouted about Mexican fenders. My main bass is still a Mexican jazz with wizard pickups. The best bass I've ever owned and I've owned a few, some far more expensive and yes, American made. Shock horror.
