1. It may be that yout tone pot and capacitor don't suit the Thumper (I'm assuming it's a standard passive here). If the pot is a 500k then a 250k may help, also a larger value capacitor i.e. 0.047 microfarad as opposed to 0.022. This may tone it down a bit. Peter
2. Here's a couple of piccies with the neck attached. Just awaiting the tuners and pre-amp and it'll be flying Peter
3. Visit the Warmoth.com website and get a P body and a J neck: Nearly finished. Wizard Thumper and awaiting an ACG filter based pre-amp
4. The fretless gets my vote being a 'natural' sorta guy. Nice!
5. That's really interesting. I've sorta coming to a conclusion that a good passive J or P is always better than a good active one. Something organic maybe, less is more or whatever? Peter
6. I have a Sterling and it's a great bass, I sold it and then it returned and I'm made up by that. Light, small and sooo playable. With a Nordstrand Pickup I'd say it's got the balls of a Ray too!
7. Hi there Chris Looking forward to meeting you and the rest of the guys. Peter
8. Looks good to me. You can ask the seller to send you a copy of the day's paper with the guitar. Peter
9. Alan's prices are, considering the quality of his instruments, extremely reasonable. I've just ordered my 2nd ACG and considering the specs it's a great price. Alan is also a one man band and his basses are unique so you need to talk to him and discuss these things, its a real benefit dealing with an individual IMO, truly bespoke basses. Peter
10. I'm a Mersea (Island) boy myself, moved North nowadays
11. Not everyone's cuppa but I love mine. Where in Essex are you? If anyone's got a Line 6 XT Live model that fits let me know! Bump again
12. I find mine very lush, just right for some Nirvana.
13. http://www.garywillis.com/pages/bass/bassm...etupmanual.html May be useful
14. What I'd do is 1st try raising the E string saddle with an allen key a 1/4 turn on each side for a bit to see if the problem goes. If not you can lower it back where you started. If you fret at the 1st fret and the last, at the same time, how much gap is there under the string? Peter
15. It is a very stunning, interesting and workmanlike looking instrument.
16. A very beautiful and interesting Warwick. His final paragraph is interesting:
WHO AM I?:I am a white American and my wife is Japanese, my daughter is both. I really hate to say this but the only people who send me unsolicited emails calling me a slant-eyed scammer etc are Americans. The rest of the world seems to realize that their country is not the only place on Earth. Only half of my business is to the USA but ALL of these emails come from Americans. If you are one of these people I will just let you know now that you are an idiot and I will be happy to verbally put you in your place and display the correspondence in the Q&A for all to see. If you are stupid enough to think I am a scammer or a guitar is fake etc I can guarantee you I am MUCH MUCH more intelligent than you are! Thank you for reading this far and I sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, hope you are doing this BEFORE you commit to buy this. Sorry if you are reading this too late. If so you may be SOL but I tried as hard as I flippin' could to get you to read this BEFORE you committed!!
17. I'm bringing my Lakky BG with Villex pups and tone control so I'll be interested for a comparison too. Should be fun Peter
18. How about Audacity? It's free too. Peter
19. Is the action very low? If so you could try raising it. Also worth checking the neck relief as you may not have any? Peter
20. You could contact Alan at ACG basses, he is a Hipshot dealer. Peter
21. I've downloaded some really good sounds from the database for my 'Live' and tweaked quite a few with good results. I'm going to have a play this w/e. What's your username Ped, I'd like to steal some of your stuff Peter
22.
much better than Thomann's.
In my experience of Thomann that isn't physically possible. I've bought about 10 items from them over several years and returned an amp for repair and their service has always been pretty unbeatable bar naked delivery ladies or 500% refunds.
23. +1 on BB1500A quality being superior to the new BB's. I own a BB1500A courtesy of BB2000 (thanks) and have owned a BB615
24. The FCW one are very quick indeed. Brilliantly quick in fact. They're not huge but fitted and suit Fender: Photo to follow Peter
