    If you're playing in a loud rock band, they're great. If not, I would look elsewhere.

    Sounds like a Jazz bass to me. The mids drop off with both pups on full hence the volume dip.

    Tension and flexibility are also two different things.

    Balanced tension strings may give you balanced tension but IME, the strings suffer and you end up with unbalanced volumes between each string.
