  1. I wasn't impressed by him (apart from his trousers! I've got their twin brother) - he seemed to spend much of the time gurning at the audience then playing something a bit lacklustre. Band were good though!
  2. Best band of the festival for me was Janelle Monae... Excellent show, funky as, serious bass player.
  3. Never liked the Killers. And can't see what the fuss is about with Foals - they haven't even got a bass player! However, enjoyed Goat Girl - I'm not usually indie-boy but they're just that bit more interesting. Sort of Monochrome Set-meet-The Roches! First band I've watched the whole set of (though with Idles this was because my Mrs complained about the racket). Janet Jackson was mildly entertaining but, as the Mrs said "what's with the Hitler moustache?" 😄 It just meant you couldn't really tell if it was her singing, or her backing vocalist or a backing track... Wanted to Like The Comet Is Coming - but found they never quite let go; sax player kept doing repetitive riffs when some Ornette-style squawking would have made it all wig-out properly. Looking forward to Fat White Family later today...
  4. I quite enjoyed The Charlatans, despite the duff hair and terrible dancing! Also liked Idles, Michael Mawanuka and (surprisingly!) Two Door Cinema Club.
  5. Sneaked an edit in... Is it Villa Strangiata?
  6. Is it Rock the Casbah? edit: Bah! Put up the choon before my guess!!
  7. I'd never join a band who specified: 1) what notes I should play 2) what type of bass I should play 3) which clothes I should wear I want to be free to make my own choices about what sort of eejit I look and sound like!
  8. I got slightly confused - not Martin France but Nic France. No less serous a drummer though! Album was this: http://chivofunge.com/
  9. No voting thread yet? At the moment I'm in line for a top 3 place!
  10. We like the band to look like those guys who cause old ladies to cross the street, who get pointed out by mothers as an example of what will happen if you don't eat your greens/do your homework/take notice of Catechism classes, who hang around on the Rows in Chester spitting on American tourists' hats...
  11. I've got some snakeskin ones on the way...
  12. Quick photo from our recent Hereford gig highlighting special trousers...
  13. Excellent! I'd give him (or her!) the gig!
  14. I use compression all the time, for all sorts of stuff:
  15. I knows what it is but I ain't no snitch!
  16. I helped crowdfund a mate's album. For £20 I got not only the pleasure of seeing his little face after recording with Dudley Philips on bass and Martin France on drums, but 1 cd, vinyl LP and download. Which was nice!
  17. Had a couple of hours spare, so here's a little ditty inspired by both the pic and one of my favourite grooves. Can you tell what it was yet? Might even do this with the band! (Features lots of Future Impact bass)
  18. On concrete! We played a gig once after 6 pints and a tab of acid and that was bad enough!
  19. I used to go to Kent Hells Angels' Custom Bike Show... No trouble, loads of fun and we even got Slade, Saxon and Rockbitch (they scared even the most evil looking biker; luckily there were no police on site )
  20. I've got 2 small ones coming up - Funk In The Forest and Down On The Farm. Both are quite small (50 or so bands, no really big names apart from John Coghlan's Quo and Dr & The Medics at The Farm). Luckily, I can only stay for the time we're playing (though we would be camping in the artist's "quiet" area), and as both are quite close I shall be going in the Land Rover. That way I'll be able to drive straight to the stage no matter how much mud there is.
