  1. Thanks for the reply mate. Re deaths, hope those figures are the way things stay. I think what’s confounding them however is that whilst deaths are lower than March, hospital admissions are higher, putting greater strain on the healthcare systems. The people being admitted are perhaps less vulnerable than in March and whilst NHS is apparently saving more of them from COVID, the knock-on effect on the treatment of other conditions is probably greater than March/April. This I think is why transmission has to be stamped on now. EDIT Just noticed the admissions line on the above appears to disagree with the data I saw earlier, which I guess says it all about the data that's out there at present. Not easy to know whose data to trust?
  2. Looks like Terry Jones with a 'tache
  3. That's the thing, I have (by the standards of other people, and I had one of your ex's for quite a while also), I guess that I don't get blown away the same way others do. Perhaps it's a case that for me the majority of them doing the job so well that there is limited headroom in which any greatness can operate?
  4. Although......... I'm not sure how 'great' a Precision can ever truly be. I've owned about 30 I'd guess over the years, and played many more, and whilst a Precision will always be my number 1 bass, I don't get the idea tat they're ever 'great'. I see them as being a tool that is usually perfect for the job. Some perhaps make the job easier and others make it bloody hard, I just think they do what they do. I owned the Pino Precision for a while, folks kept saying "Wow, what a great bass", but to me it was just one of the instruments that made the job easier. The basses I've had that I'd say are great would be the Modulus Flea, Wal Mk1, Ric 4001 C64 and, possibly the Takamine B10. YMMV
  5. Nice one, you might have to do some jiggery pokery with the saddle as on a rightly the one you need will be treble side. I'll post pics once I've found them mate
  6. That was not the most effusive of posts was it Jack, I saw it and assumed coded message to Ped. Anagram competition anyone
  7. I assume you're a lefty?
  8. I've got a full set of those somewhere mate, I replaced them with a grooved set, give me a day or two and I'll sort it. Chris
  9. IME there’s good precision’s, average precision’s, mediocre precision’s and awful precision’s, there’s some that are toppy, some are middy, some even a bit boomy. But it’s across the board, in the new batch you’ll get all of the above. Build consistency is improving, but there’s only so much you can do with a 70 year old design, two bits of wood and some bits of metal. Price these days shows how gullible we are when it comes to marketing and PR
  10. Meet the new boss Same as the old boss
  11. Bass is probably fine, seller probably not. You need both to be good to press the button
  12. Every single pre 1980 Fender I’ve owned has smelled pretty funky, open the case and there’s a mix of lacquer, fags, beer, sweat and, well other stuff. First sign I would have of fake is absence of funk
  13. They only get stung if they don’t know what they’re doing and don’t use PayPal, you’d hope that with a bid at that level that that they do and will
  14. Excellent stuff, might even bring the SJ back into fashion
  15. I always knew the day would come when someone would be brave enough to ask
  16. Good man for approaching it so positively. PJB are pretty good, I received replies from Phil in person, I'm sure they can help re parts?
  17. That's probably the best bit of advice so far, also means that there'd be others to help the OP familiarise with it
  18. Ah, OK, fair enough, apologies if that came across as rude. I've tried to teach some non audio folks how to use recording software recently and language was a real problem, and it's not just language, its the concepts that the language refers to, because many of those are completely alien to many folks, a bus being a good example!
  19. You've just disproved your own point there Rik, you're using classic studio terminology found in so many of the manuals and tutorials for DAWs that to many people, including the O/P perhaps, means it might as well be written in Lithuanian
  20. Agree, but none of them are easy to set up if you're new to this stuff. I'm using Pro Tools daily at present to edit voice tracks, a few weeks ago the workload got on top of me and a colleague said "I'll pop over and do some editing for you, it'll only take me a few minutes to get to grips with the software". The long silence on the call following that required no editing or processing at all
  21. Hey mate, are there any serial numbers you can check, if so a quick email to the manufacturer might confirm whether the one you have is the one you bought. Sound however like they've done a table top repair without protecting the unit. I had that exact same issue with a manufacturer very popular on this forum, fixed one thing, broke several others through sheer lack of care
  22. Are you talking about the software such as Garageband or the interface that's going to get your sounds into it? If the former, Garageband is free and easy to use (if you are on Mac of course)
