  1. It's a nice bass, I would show some photos of the board also, specifically showing that the gloss finish is intact. Most people looking to buy a maple board fretless (which includes me at present), would need to see that the board is perfect or close to perfect before even setting out to try it. I've owned several and love them, but I've also seen - and in one case bought - some necks that looked perfect in photos only to find them close to unplayable as the result of the finish having worn in some places and not others, which is very common with these. All that aside, lovely bass at a lovely price, good luck 👍
  2. I agree in principle. The flip side of the above is that anxiety is not a positive creative force and you're an improv band about to accept what your band-mates are perceiving as an anxiety inducing gig?
  3. If you're feeling brave, you could use the well know Paul Simenon technique (little known fact is that the photo in question does not capture a moment of existential rage, merely an attempt to loosen a stripped neck screw)..... If not, drill them out 👍
  4. Idiot probably working under the misconception that anyone at all would notice 😊
  5. Really enjoyed that, great technique, great tone, just the right level of indulgence for what it is. One if the best of the YTs I’ve seen 👍
  6. Agreed, I'll add a fourth to that, just occasionally, I can come up with something better, which often means I move towards your second, simpler
  7. As we all know mate, it's as much about the looking good as the being good 👍
  8. Of you like the bass and the price is right, buy it. If you don’t and/or it isn’t, don’t. Most of the best Fenders I’ve owned have been mongrels of one form or another 👍
  9. And supported Thin Lizzy on at least one major tour IIRC
  10. Mmm, never seen a P-neck like that, except on your Hondo P-Bass 😆 Looks a bloody decent bass for the price, there is something so iconic about the cream/black combination on a ‘Ray 👍
  11. Could use this gone, so £150 gets you a lot of creamy bassiness for not a lot of cash 👍
  12. Played this through my (previously for sale) Mesa M6 his evening. F**k me, on the basis of which the M6 is now staying and if I didn't have far too many basses, this would be also 🤔
  13. If anyone want to take this off my hands for £150 on the understanding that at the very least it needs a new preamp tube but could be more, feel free to get in touch 👍
  14. There's a rather elegant lifecycle to things on BC; how many of us have bought something, then sold it as the result of GAS, only to find ourselves realising the error of our ways and buying the same model - sometimes even the same item - again? This has sat unplayed for almost 6-months. I sat down and played it this evening and realised that, if I didn't own a Mesa Carbine M6 Combo, I'd be posting for one in Items Wanted. So I guess i've saved myself the bother of selling it only to find I need to buy it again! I'd like to say 'So with apologies, I'm withdrawing it", but given it's sat here for 6-months, I don't feel all that guilty
  15. Lovely stuff , great trumpet player, shame it stopped just as it started 👍
  16. That indeed could sharpen a prospective buyer's mind Lawrie 🤔
  17. I've owned both twice each!!! 100 feels more like a double bass to the hands and body, 200 sounds more like a double bass to the ear and amplifier. Both are beautifully engineered, I doubt there are better EUBs in the mass(ish) production space, nearly all of the boutique or bespoke instruments I've played have felt very poorly built by comparison. If I were going to buy another it would be the 100, but it would be a close call as the 200 is way more portable
  18. I'll gig it out and post some pics at the weekend, looked iconic 👍
  19. Here's a pic for you @Cosmo Valdemar Still a big part of me wants to strip this bass, despite the very high quality of the current finish and relic work - and blondify it al la Tumahai/BBD, that bass was an iconic part of my youth! Problem is, I'd do all that work and probably still sell it 🤔
  20. It is. If I were going to keep it I would probably switch out the current circuit to a stacked VT/VT control set, to maintain the vintage vibe but make it easier to find the sweet spot between the two PUPs. Having said that, having what amounts to three presets is pretty handy also 👍
  21. Hey mate, there's nine pics in total, I can see them all, I've no idea what this stuff (below) at the foot of the first post is, but i don't appear to be able to remove it. Either way, I can post more pics?
  22. She is, and I just made THAT mistake as well.......... Had to take it into the house to weigh it, so before taking it back out to the studio thought I'd have a quick play...... 🤔
  23. Stunning 👍
  24. It’s been done better here too
  25. That is my sentiment, fine for the builder/player, but that’s where it should stop. To my ear it sounded far too much like a fretless bass to warrant the hassle of the larger instrument 👍
