  1. Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs at SWX in Bristol last night. Support band, Irked were superb. Loads of punk energy and some almost heavy riffs. Pigs were absolutely brilliant as always with their Sabbath inspired noise. Great performance and as always, the sound in SWX was brilliant. Third time I've seen them and they just keep getting better. The mosh pit was rather lively, I've got a few bruises this morning.
  2. Every cover band does Paranoid (badly) and Iron Man is a bit over played. The Wizard should be in your set as well, I covered it in a band once it's great to play on bass
  3. You might have to send that back to the manufacturer. Most amp techs can't do anything with pcb's and processors other than check the bassics.
  4. Their live sets must be constantly interrupted by drunk people shouting "Play Money/comfortably numb/brick in the wall"
  5. I think anything can do metal. I've even seen a Hoffner violin bass used by a doom band before. A precision and humbucker should be an ideal pickup combination
  6. I like that. Tribute to a hugely popular rock band that doesn't play the songs everyone wants to hear.
  7. But can it do metal?
  8. That's a lot of interesting suggestions. The Sandberg California is quite appealing. The precision and stingray pickups are an appealing combo
  9. I keep seeing Metallica tribute bands everywhere, there's hundreds of the buggers and most are probably terrible (even worse that the real thing post Newstead). And it got me thinking, every obvious band has their tribute act, but what's the most obscure tribute you've seen? I once saw a Melvins tribute band which seemed pretty odd. They even had two drummers and were pretty good.
  10. Arse. You're correct. I best rearrange the childcare! We'll you saved me a wasted trip to Brizzle. Thanks
  11. Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs at SWX in Bristol tonight. An excellent live band in a venue with really good sound. This will be the third time I've seen them and I can't wait.
  12. A sports bass! Does that make it faster?
  13. I have a Mexican p bass. Most of the basses I've owned have been from either the America or Asia. I fancy something different
  14. I just don't dig natural finishes.
  15. Something that doesn't sound like my p bass. Not natural finish. Not single cut. No narrower than a modern jazz neck. Lighter than a Peavey T40
  16. Aren't Spector American?
  17. I'm thinking of buying a second bass and thought it would be nice to get something British or at least European. What are the options up to £1500, 4 string & long scale. I'm open to any pickup configuration
  18. If you're a Jeff Matz fan, it's worth looking up his Facebook page. He offers online bass lessons. I was going to book some for my daughter for her birthday.
  19. New Model Army's bassist has a really unique style to get his tone, he uses a pick and picks really close to the bridge.
  20. If you ever get the chance to see them live, do it. They're really entertaining and brilliant performers plus Jeff Matz bass is even better live than on the records
  21. What a bass should sound like in this context I guess but completely wrong for lots of other music. There is no ideal bass tone for everything.
  22. Bridgeburner by Mutoid Man My left hand just gets tied in knots
  23. If that's serious tone, then I'll go for daft tone. There is no good or bad tone, only the right tone for the song.
  24. Even with decent headphones, some of them are just clatter without notes. Very much like Fieldy from Korn
