  1. It's not a rip off. They offered a price that makes the deal worthwhile to them. You weren't happy with the price so you decided not to take their offer. No harm is done. No one got ripped off. Its all fine.
  2. Those plastic packages don't look quite right. I got some yesterday from Strings Direct and they look different.
  3. That's interesting. The Eden cab has a very harsh sound so I may change it anyway. The attack when playing with a pick is like a sledge hammer on a metal tank. With fingers it's fine but since I'm mostly playing punk, I'm mostly using a pick.
  4. The reason I ask is I've gone from an Orange OBC410 to an Eden Nemesis 210 and the Eden doesn't sound as big but it's definitely louder. This surprised me.
  5. Right, I'll brace myself for the accusations that I'm an idiot. Will a 1x10, 2x10 and 4x10 cab output the same volume levels for the same volume setting on the same amp?
  6. There have been developments. Someone offered me a nice Ashdown amp so I'll no longer be going for a power amp. Thanks for the replies
  7. I didn't play any musical instrument for 9 months last year. I picked up a bass again for the first time at Christmas. 5 minutes playing and my fingers hurt. I'm struggling to write music now, it used to cone to me much more naturally.
  8. I'm in need of an amp and thinking about running a preamp pedal in to a power amp. I used to effectively do this by running my Two Notes Le Bass in to the effects return of an Orange Terror to bypass the Orange Terror's preamp because it sounded terrible. Are there any good power amps for running this sort of setup? I'll probably want 300 - 500 Watts and I'll probably use a Two Notes ReVolt Bass. Would I be better off buying a cheap Peavey, Ashdown or Hartke amp and just using the same setup as before?
  9. I'm afraid he is and his ego comes out on occasions but there's also a lot with Pepper Keenan and Mike Williams from Eyehategod and the singer from Acid Bath who's name I forget.
  10. I'm listening to some Yob this morning. Absolutely brilliant post metal. I believe the bassist is a member of this forum.
  11. NOLA is about the history of the metal music scene in Louisianna. It's mostly around bands including Down, Corrosion Of Conformity, Crowbar, Eyehategod and Acid Bath. An interesting history of where the music comes from, the people and the events. Some of it gets pretty dark
  12. Perfect balance basses? The people who buy them definitely need mental health treatment. Probably electric shock therapy and 20 years in a straight jacket.
  13. We all have our issues. Some more than others. It's good to talk about them and sometimes the right time and place is in the middle of a discussion about Lex Luther
  14. I have two friends waiting to be assessed for ADHD. The wait for that is two years and while ADHD is not a mental illness, living with it and not getting help with it can cause mental illness. In this area, the wait for CBT is two months and then you only get four sessions. It's really poor. Is it just me or has this one gone off topic?
  15. There is a desperate shortage of mental health workers (and all other health care workers) in the NHS. If only they could work out why no one wants to train for years to earn a terrible wage. It sure is a mystery.
  16. The Nordstrands don't sound like any Fender I've heard, they sound really good. I had the Bartolinis in my SRMS805. There is absolutely nothing distinctive about them, very generic bass sound. They sound OK when you pile on a ton of nasty valve overdrive.
  17. My daughters amp is at home at the moment so I'll use that until she takes it to uni then decide whether I want another nice Ashdown amp.
  18. Wasn't he that famous American bassist?
  19. I've been there. Start of last year, I fell out of love with it and sold all my gear. I bought my daughter a nice jazz bass for Christmas and spent a couple hours playing it before wrapping it and decided maybe I should get one. Now I have one but no amp or other gear reluctant to spend too much just in case.
  20. A luthier is a person who is professional trained and highly skilled in the art of wallet emptying.
  21. Prayers for rain - The Cure
  22. Rex Brown from Pantera is really good at filling the space behind he quite often plays a simple riff but with lots of additional fills to keep it busy. It's almost like a solo behind a solo. Floods is a good example of this
  23. Obviously the devil lived in Geezer's cabs
  24. Not a fan of RHCP at all. Too much slap and too many songs about California. I don't like slap or lyrics chosen purely for the number of syllables they have.
