  1. We had a stoner metal band play our wedding party. That was quite amusing, they came on and ripped in to an energetic cover of Mexicola by Queens Of the Stone Age. There were some shocked looking elderly relatives but we had a great time!
  2. I don't think I could enjoy playing nasty, dirty grunge to nice people drinking pimms in a posh hall
  3. I play in a grunge band. I want to play dank, grubby bars and pubs. The last thing I want is to play classy venues. I play to have fun, not make money.
  4. I've only got the peasant spec Sterling Ray34 and I did have a matching Ray35. I love the huge tones I can get out of it with tons of bottom and and plenty of treble as well to give it some character. I hated the tone until someone told me to set all 3 tone knobs to minimum and add in what I need instead of starting from the middle position. It works great with a nice bit of valve overdrive. My Cali76 compressor and Two Notes Le Bass both seem to compliment it extremely well. I also find it really comfortable.
  5. There are some musicians who combine incredible technique with great music but they're rare and not really soloists. They use their talents to add interest to a great tune and work with the rest of the band rather than try to look like heroes.
  6. That's exactly how I feel about virtuosos like Joe Satriani and Yngwie Malmstein and (this wont go down well) Jaco. Obviously they have an incredible amount of technical skill but incredibly technical playing and fancy tricks don't make great tunes. I'd rather listen to some simple rock than someone shredding for five minutes to an audience entirely made up of 50 year old, balding, fat amateur guitarists.
  7. American Woman - Lenny Kravitz This song stinks but does it stink more than Fly Away? I'm not sure
  8. Call me baby - Carly Rae Jepson I need to wash my brain with bleach.
  9. I'm not all that keen on the solo but I love the song. Matt Freeman is one of my favourite bassists
  10. I can't believe Korn haven't been mentioned yet. Here's Fieldy, he should get bonus points for wearing his own bands shirt
  11. Did McCartney play the Frog Chorus? I need to know before I risk watching it. How did one of Britain's greatest musicians come up with that abomination? I know he took a lot of drugs but that's still no excuse. Skunk Anansie were excellent and it's made me want a double humbucker Stingray and some talent. Not a set to watch if you don't like politics in music.
  12. It seems to be fashionable to blame the BBC for everything these days.
  13. Not a prius, no but once everyone is in the festival, all the roads around the area are pretty quiet. Most of the performers go in and out by road, it's just the VIP's who go from their fancy hotel to the festival by helicopter. I went out on my motorbike earlier pretty close to the festival and the roads were quiet. A lot of the roads around the festival are closed to normal traffic.
  14. I'm just out in the garden and watching the helicopters headed to Glastonbury and back roughly one every 10 minutes. For all their claims of being environmentally responsible, that doesn't seem too good for the environment.
  15. There was another couple turned up in the bar where my mate works who travelled down from Leicester. They'd been warned on the local Facebook group that tickets were non transferable and decided it was just locals trying to put off outsiders! If only they knew, outsiders are more welcome than locals in Frome these days.
  16. I've never played a stadium, I guess very few here have but I would imagine a packed small venue with a really enthusiastic crowd would be more fun.
  17. Still seems a lot less stress than most of us have to deal with.
  18. Amazing what a life of incredible wealth and no stress can do for someone.
