  1. I've just set up an old Squier P bass with the 4 heaviest from a 4 string set and tuned it to drop A#. I had to drill out the bridge for the heavier B string and file the nut. The truss rod needed a tweak as well. The other problem I had was the low string sounded muddier than a very muddy thing. I replaced the pickups with some cheap Tonerider pickups and now it sounds pretty decent.

  3. Generally a great tone in isolation won't work in a rock or metal mix. If it sounds like fried buttholes in isolation you're probably about right.
  4. Just turning down the middle frequencies in the EQ. Some basses and amps have the mids low even with the EQ set flat.
  5. Sadly Peter Steele won't put up much of a fight these days unless you believe in ghosts.
  6. Works for all genres including goth metal. Peter Steele used to play his on a chain strap for live shows.
