  1. Sennheiser IE100. I've likely sacrificed a bit of tone (possibly) but tbh they fit, I get a good seal (with standard buds) and as a result they trump the KZs but are double the price... but still only £80!
  2. Everyone accesses/adjusts their own feed, mainly via phone; it works for us.
  3. Last 2 gigs I've used the stereo set up but I've not yet balanced the volumes 100% never mind the stereo image. However I'm confident it'll work for me and be an improvement.
  4. Sadly for some of us the 'sound' isn't even a factor! I've tried the 10s and 16s and the physical size and shape don't work for me/my ear; they are uncomfortable and/or no good for getting a good seal (regardless of buds used). This isn't just an isolated issue, I know of at least 2 other local musicians who have sacked off the KZs in favour of units that are smaller which give a better seal. I get that if the 10s fit you then the 16's may well sound better... but they need to be a good fit for the user.
  5. If I take a pic with the tortie plate on and knock £50 off for 'Mods' rates, could you find the spare?
  6. I've just bought one of these and I've had the chance to A/B with an actual 800RB amp... no difference!
  7. So you buy the lightest Sterling around (I'll photograph this on the scales) and you sell a heavier one... problem solved!
  8. TBH I'll need to take it off and check. I'll post back here.
  9. You get to a certain age where you have to rationalise just how many of 'any' bass you can have!
  10. Furthest South for us at present is Sutton-in-Ashfield... not very South or West. LOL
  11. Stage rig - preamp pedal(s) into IEM! I've owned 8 and 12 string basses and had all of the usual debates and trials re. how to amplify and tbh as soon as you start putting it through PA systems without your own engineer, it's bordering on being a waste of time (IMHO). On stage I've run bi-amp systems with active crossovers etc. I've also run a guitar rig AND a bass rig from an active crossover but when you are standing 'on stage' you are then looking at having to wear ear plugs/protection and you have the guitarist(s), drums etc to mush up the sound; what's the point of having all of this lovely crossed over/split EQ'd independently tone and it sounds no different to a well EQ'd mono signal? I certainly didn't hear any benefit and as soon as you start talking to in-house engineers about bi-amped sounds etc. most of them have very little interest especially if you are on multi-band gigs. Sorry but this is just my experience; it'll be different if you are the band paying big wages with control over big concert rigs (see Cheap Trick/Kings X/Pearl Jam).
  12. Very kind of you to say so; 3 of the 4 of us are actually vocalists in other bands.
  13. You can take the tubular wings out of these Aria basses and they pack down pretty small but you are always going to be limited to the 34" scale length of a bass. An alternative is a Kala U bass but they are an acquired taste.
  14. Imagine placing the pad of your finger on the 'bass' string; to play the octave strings (which are much thinner) you need to apply sufficient pressure past the point of contact with the bass string to get the octave strings to fret. When the octave strings are below the bass string you need to rotate your finger slightly in/under toward by bending your knuckle joint down, whereas if the octave strings are above, you roll your finger tip over the bass string a little... much more natural to do the latter. It's something which you never need to think about if you've ever played a 12 string acoustic guitar because the string thickness in pairs is the same or very similar.
  15. This ^^^ I've owned a couple of 12's and the Musicvox I had was reversed... it was truly awkward/uncomfortable to play.
  16. Brand new unopened. Bought when I was going to experiment with different strings but settled on another brand. Paid £34.99
  17. Chris just bought some strings from me; no issues. Promptly paid and hassle free.
  18. Do you have an accurate weight for the bass please?
  19. I was convinced that I had to have this bass back (I sold it 10 years ago) and that it'd do a different job to my 88 Sabre but tbh they are in the same ball park for tone so I don't need both... maybe sell my Sabre if this doesn't sell.
  20. Excellent condition for a 30 year old bass, with no issues. Classic Musicman Stingray style bridge with mutes. One of those basses that is so good that I've owned it twice! Only point of note is the 2 small holes in the pickguard where someone mounted a thumb-rest. Weight is 9lb (exactly) or 4.1kg. The neck is less wide and less 'full' than a Stingray neck and is often compared more to a Jazz profile than say a Precision. This is the earliest version with the metal battery compartment cover. Trades - 34" Sandberg... possibly.
  21. As you say, none of them would 'happily' pay out on insurance but PF extract the urine as they'll take your premium for a guitar/bass and categorically exclude instruments in the small print.
  22. https://www.secursus.com/en-gb/# So long as the courier has a tracking system (most do), you book the courier and then put the tracking number into the Securus system... that's pretty much it!
  23. There's a guy on BC, based in Holland builds @Brookes basses, they are top notch. I'd have to say that the cost of a custom build might come as a bit of a shock! I priced up with several luthiers and most were talking about having to get custom parts as very little is off the shelf.
