  1. I’ve just been playing with the patch settings and have created your suggestion above. I’ve also had a look at the sharing function and if it’s worked, below is the QR code for that patch. The second QR code is for another patch I find myself using as it’s quite bright and modern sounding. I’m not sure if it’s one of the default patches or the result of some earlier tweaking I’ve done. I’d be interested to know if it sounds OK for others if anyone could try it.
  2. I was at the Reading festival gig in 1983 and I agree that the Stranglers were a bit of a let down. Big Country on the other hand were amazing.
  3. Ditto, thanks
  4. I too lost interest post-Hugh but my musical tastes had evolved in a different direction by that time so it felt right to move on. I did see them live a few times with Paul Roberts fronting when they were a five piece with John Ellis. I didn’t hate it and he’s accomplished in the frontman role, but that was the problem the Stranglers were not about having a flamboyant frontman leaping around. I think Baz Warne is a much better fit but I’ve not been particularly motivated to get back into them. However, as a result of this thread I will visit their later catalogue to see what I make of it.
  5. Has anyone tried the sharing feature on the might plug? I haven’t played much with tweaking patch settings so I’ve not really mastered getting the best out of the device yet. However, If anyone has any good custom patches it would be interesting to try something different.
  6. Possibly Shure SM61 or Electro-Voice 635?
  7. Does this help?
  8. Ah, damn. The description suggested it might be Mac compatible.
  9. The problem with the 3D cover was that it was colourful and sunny whereas the 2D one was dark with a sense of foreboding; far more in keeping with the mood of the album. Needless to say I only have the 2D one. 😉
  10. Not midi but how about something like this:- https://www.amazon.co.uk/iKKEGOL-Control-Customized-Computer-Keyboard/dp/B01NAL3DV6 Essentially an external keyboard which has just one key which is a footswitch. I’m guessing that it would possible to map this key to the space bar on the MacBook?
  11. My Peavy head in the early 80s had a fully parametric mid with a Q control. I’m not sure I made much use of it though.
  12. That's amazing! Did they have the foresight to plan that or is it pure coincidence I wonder?
  13. I think we’d got most of ‘em already 😉
  14. The same thing happened with my nephew. He lost the whole of his monthly income in one night just after being paid and then tried to take his life because of the guilt. I bailed him out. Less than a year later he did it again despite all sorts of controls being supposedly put in place with the online betting companies. My sister bailed him out again. It impacts the victim’s wider family as well. 👿 He said he thought he could win some money to pay some debts because he’s “quite good at it”. Clearly he isn’t!
  15. I think I read somewhere that the IV doesn’t actually mean anything. Apparently they just put it there to confuse people, which it has!
  16. Short of banning it completely they should only allow bluntly truthful advertising along the lines “you can bet with us but understand that the odds are stacked completely in our favour and you will lose a sh!tload of money and you will not solve whatever problem you have, in fact you will make it worse”
  17. I’m amazed at the prevalence of gambling advertising. I think it ought to be treated the same as tobacco.
  18. The One Show item was presented by Watchdog's Matt Allwright and he invited anyone let down by any online marketplace to contact: [email protected] As I mentioned in the other thread on this subject Matt Allwright is a guitarist so it's likely he would be interested in this story.
  19. On the One Show tonight there was an item by Watchdog’s Matt Allwright about people getting scammed on the Vinted web site. Not dissimilar to the experiences here. At the end of the item he said if there was anyone else who’d been scammed on any online marketplace to get in touch and report their experiences. I know that he’s a guitarist so he’ll probably be interested in hearing from anyone on here who’s been affected. I would suggest all affected members to get in touch ASAP to create some noise about this story.
  20. For me The Raven is one of the key Stranglers albums. I find it to be a worthwhile progression from the first three albums. I think it’s atmospheric and moody, particularly the title track. This probably has a lot to do with me first seeing them live on the Raven tour in ‘79. That gig was dark and moody and really cemented the album in my musical experience.
  21. Oh my word, this is even nicer than the other one you put up! I want it but absolutely don’t need it. 😩 GLWTS.
  22. I always felt that the front cover was a bit odd and the back should have definitely been the front.
  23. I have one identical to this and it’s my favourite Precision, the one I instinctively pick up first. There’s something about the neck that just feels right. I don’t need another but I would echo the comment that if anyone is thinking of buying, Just go for it. GLWTS.
  24. I think you’re right about the sound being gone. In fact I don’t think it lasted much beyond the first three albums. I’ve seen them live many times and on many occasions the bass sounded like a muddy mess. Whether that’s to do with JJ’s rig or poor FOH understanding of how it should sound, I don’t know.
