Not the amp, tried another bass How about with a finger on a pup case? I'd try removing the Pickup Case Ground / Braid... Half reminds me of mains hum on a turntable to amp... with the extra ground wire v's turn table psu grounded (rather than 2 wire and obvs the amp earthed)? I'd share you findings with Gemini Fingers Crossed.

String Length Issue? Rested the neck in the body, and offered up the Adagio Flats sacross the headstock, see what it looks like. The E is pulled thru the slot, till the thick winding, but has all this spare. The A, D & G are pulled up taught and fine, thick wind is short from the peg. Peg Center is 37" from the Bridge E Thick Wind is 38" - same as the A. String Thru Std or Odd Long String? Should i just wind the thick part round the peg? What flat wounds are you using on your HB PB50? Any cheap-ish make / model of Flats that are slightly shorter?
