  1. Almost an hour to impart 5 minutes worth of info. What an appalling presentation.
  2. Don't want to derail the thread but, what ever the subject, that old argument is bollocks, and you know it. You can't allocate non-voters to either side of a vote.
  3. It was a comment on Fleabag's spelling, not your thread!
  4. or even "ridiculous"
  5. We had a drummer in a folk dance band who did a similar thing kept saying that he was going to quit. What he really wanted was fro the rest of of us to say "Please don't quit". Eventually he mentioned a date - "I'm not doing anymore after Christmas", so we stopped asking him. Apparenly he was then moaning that!. He was good drummer (in the folk dance idiom) but was a bugger to work with - always turning up to gigs "Just in time", or just too late!
  6. F me that makes me feel old. Only recognise about haf a dozen names, and the only one I'd get out of bed for is Richard Thompson.
  7. Thanks Dad, I knew that, but I was querying how FRS stood for Fender Special Run (FSR).
  8. Went as a gang to see Gary Glitter at a club in Leicester around 1977, after our second year exams at uni (Lufbra). Brilliant show.
  9. Apologies, but whenever this subject comes up I have to post this:
  10. And then there was Focus of course.
  11. Purrfect. ... well someone had to start the terrible puns.
  12. Fascinating video although I think I need to listen to it via headphones. Much more fun that reading a book!
  13. Aprt from the playing in a function band bit (I never have), you summarise my position better than I could. Live performance (in a rock band at least) should have a bit of spark to it.
  14. Am I the first to mention Pick Up The Pieces?
  15. To be fair to them it wasn't my sort of stuff - a lot of disco medleys & the like. Don't want to say too muchto identify them in case the bass player is on here.
  16. I was at my cousin's wedding last weekend and they had a function band on in the evening. Very polished, everything arranged to the nth degree, obviously some very talented musicians. But,........... ........................ my God was it dull! And you felt that if you saw them again it would be exaclty the same again.
  17. Jaco Pastorious? Ok when playing a proper bass line, but all that noodling, harmonics & stuff? Meh.
  18. Exactly. Mustang Sally is a good song. I wish I could write a song that was still being played 57 years later on, and will probably still be doing the rounds in another 57 years (Nuclear holocaust allowing)
  19. Was the test with the friend's rig in the same room as you tried yours? If not that could explain the difference, iether your mains earth is not very good, or your room is electrically noisy (dimmer switches?), (or it's something else). First thing I'd do would be to do more tests to narrow it down, and only look at your bsses' screening/earthing if that is indicated.
  20. For me it comes down to what I'd rather see: A band, or one clever person with a clever bit of hardware? (Hint: It's the band)
  21. If that is a comment on "Looping" then I totally agree with you.
  22. And don't do drugs.
