That looks so good, what a great job - It's definitely inspiring me to make a couple 😁 It's probably not even worth asking but would they function the same if I built 2 and stacked them one on top of each other laying horizontally instead of upright like this?

I really like your work Disssa, it always looks so well laid out and very well put together, but on the flip side (and not trying to be a party pooper) should you really be using Trace Elliot, Orange etc logos on your pedals? I'm pretty sure they're trademarked.

You must have noticed the difference in feel though?

The flats on my CV P bass are Adagio and they definitely feel lower tension than the LaBella 760's I've used in the past - I had to adjust the truss rod to accommodate the LaBella's tension and they felt very stiff when playing (which helped a bit with speed) but these softer Adagio's feel really nice.

DIY wrapping an old Hartke 4x10 with tolex or similar

Tartke 😂 Looks fantastic, just goes to show if you love a piece of gear there's plenty of ways to keep it looking fresh. -
Bought John's Squier CV 60's P Bass - it was exactly as described and John was kind enough to very promptly answer a few questions I had and even sent me some hi-res photos before I went ahead with the purchase. Being fairly local to each other a halfway point meet-up in a supermarket carpark was arranged and before long both money and bass were duly exchanged. Highly recommend dealing with John who was fantastic throughout the whole process 😀

What a fantastic thread and an amazing result, I thoroughly enjoyed reading through this build. Well done @JGTay you’ve got a fabulous set of skills there, the finished bass is something to be incredibly proud of!

Thanks a lot @Lozz196 will get in touch with them soon to order one 😀

Have added the hipshot string retainer to my Player P bass as the open A string was rattling but that's all sorted now. Be interested in a Kiogon loom - What sort of price am I looking at?

Fender Player Plus....more blurred lines or a smart move?
Bassybert replied to merello's topic in Bass Guitars
Exactly the reason I went for a player series precision than any of the American models. The difference in price against the difference in quality don’t correlate at all. Fender play the ‘Made in the US = highest quality” card very well when we all know that simply isn’t true. Being a cricketer, the same marketing/belief’s apply to cricket bats - people I know will only buy £4-500 top of the line bats made in the UK and think that bats made anywhere outside the UK i.e. the sub continent are inferior, when again it’s blatantly not true in the slightest. -
My ABM 500 EVO II fans come on when I turn it on and are pretty loud, but I love the sound of this thing so it's a small price to pay.

😂 That’s some of my favourite stuff about music, you can’t have light without darkness!

Yes you're correct in thinking that - looking to see if I can get a similar sort of sound with my P bass with tone rolled down a bit for that fatter rounder sound. It sounds synth based to me and not fuzz, hence why I asked if a synth-type pedal like a C4 could get close.
-
I’ma big fan of PJ Harvey and have always loved this song but am a bit perplexed as to how to get this type of sound. It sounds a bit modulated but was wondering if a synth pedal alone would get close to this or if it’s more than that?

The Vintera bases look very nice but haven’t played one to comment on sound. I have one of the tide pool blue Player series though and it’s a fantastic bass. The weight is spot on, the neck profile and satin finish makes it a joy to play and it’s got that classic precision sound. Also, from what I can see, the finish, although being poly looks a fair bit thinner than a lot of the thick goopy stuff I’ve seen before. The bass seems really resonant with a lovely rich sound. It’s also a great platform for modding if you’re that way inclined. You probably can’t go wrong with either though 😁

Welcome to the forum @D0gS0litud3 Really enjoyed those songs too ☺️ -
I'm presuming Ashdown don't have some sort of fixed retail pricing setup with their retailers, but a unit cost price, an RRP and the retailer sets the margin. If that is the case... Why would they be pricing lower than their retailers and undercutting the very people who are selling their products? As a retailer I'd be a bit whizzed that the company I'm stocking is undercutting me and taking my sales. It's impossible for Ashdown be able to track all of the prices their products are sold in-store and online with various retailers and be able to set a price online. The deal is that anyone buying direct from Ashdown pays the price Ashdown are willing to charge for their products when selling direct. You pays your money you takes your choice.

I don't think this could be further from the mark - Have you listened to much of their music apart from Nevermind? Cobain was great at writing something with a melody rather than an atonal dirge of some of the bands around at the time, but Bleach and In Utero are hardly easy listens and I'm a big fan.

Is September 24th 1991 the greatest day in music history?
Bassybert replied to Supernaut's topic in General Discussion
That's a pretty decent day for music releases ☺️
