1.
thats another debate... no doubt thats what its for but i still feel it is mindless w***ing...
At least this time you admitted that 'you feel' its mindless blah blah blah as I can assure you that many people here do not. :-)
  2. I,ve been buying and selling guitars for over twenty years and remember going to denmark st back in the eighties, the situation was the same then. I remember that once i was after a trem for one of my guitars and one store had a gold coloured one for something like 180 and the store over the road (rhodes music I think) had one in chrome that I wanted for 200 so I went in and asked would they match the price of the one over the road, The prick behind the counter phoned the shop over the road and then said " go over and check the price now!" sure enough the other one was priced at 200. If denmark st was bulldozed tomorrow it would not be missed one iota.
  3.
Awesome SRs - I assume they are early/mid 90's Japanese models? Is that fretless a 1205? Great to see some older Soundgears on Basschat - there don't seem to be too many kicking around.
The two through necks are from around 93 and are both from the us, the 405 is a few years newer and was originally black but I gave it a refinish about a year ago. Oh yes and the 1205 is a fretless, with inlaid white lines.
  4. Chers dude, The six stringers are left over from a widdly widdly period that I went thru in the eighties
  5. I finally got round to taking some individual photos of my collection.
  6.
its a shame mr. masaki is such an awesome bassist that he needs the fret numbers in place of the dot inlays... load of mindless w***ing anyway...
Oh for goodness sake!!! The markings are for the viewer to see!!!
  7. I also share jons love of nip firewood and other oddities, I,ve just picked up a Hohner 'Arbor series' str*t copy, three color sunburst, rosewood board, looks and plays like a tokai goldstar but with a body made from one o, them plywood trees!
  8. Back in the days of 'live tv' and such great televisual milestones such as 'topless darts', there was a show called 'the spanish archer' and a friend of mine got a chance to appear as a friend of hers had backed out at the last minute( I wonder why!!!). Anyway , she was a violinist and she asked me if I would accompany her on guitar with a fellow bass playing friend of mine doing a rocked out version of the south bank show/ paganini concerto no24 tune. The show turned out to be a very corny talent show where the acts were either 'elbowed' of the stage or won an orange each and a chance to be outright winner for the day, we went on and did indeed win an orange each and were in the running to be the winners but we were beaten at the end by a juggling Frank spencer!!!!.

  13.
my mate would do the same with his estate car, but used both sides of the PA and subs hooked up to his car amps. Ya know, I have to admit, it really did sound amazing and clear... so very loud, but it never hurt your ears. Strange! Infact, it was so loud, you actually couldnt hear yourself talk!
Cool!! I,m looking at my 8x10,s and thinking they,ll fit in the volvo 940.
  14. A gu1t4rist friend of mine used to carry his Soldano 4x12 cab in the back of his car and used to hook it up to a car sub bass power amp when not using it for gigs.
  15.
this of any use as to what it is like, also completely nuts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRzmyTn_PfE
Blast it!!! I,m gonna have to learn that now!!!! I,m hooked, listened to it a dozen times already!!!!
  16.
Everyone agreed, at least by 1995 that the 80s was the worse ever decade for style.
Well I never agreed!!! I loved the eighties, the music and styles that were around. If you take anything from the eighties you can immediatly recognise it, it was the last decade of any recognisable style regardless of wether it was good or bad, everything since has had no definable look or sound that was ever so clear, sure loads of good stuff has come since but If I had a time machine I,d love to go back to 1980 and do it all again, and probably the late 60,s and early 70,s. I still have my drop sleeved leather jacket. :-)
  17. How are you getting the amp shipped? They are a little on the weighty side!.
  18.
Lol, nice one. IIRC last time I saw your rig, you had 4 8*10s, did you feel that wasn't enough so needed the extra pair? Which mug helps you lift/move those?
Hehe! I borrowed a couple from ampegs hire stock to compete with the 24 Marshall cabs that tony and nick had got planned for their side of the stage. Hopefully the video that we used them for for 'blindside' will be finished soon and up with the others on our site. We did a really funny scene with me using a body harness slipping across the stage trying to play into the blast from the backline. Paul. The whole kit and caboodle.
  19.
..Go on then!
Does anyone know a good ear surgeon?

    Hum problem.

+1 for the voodoo lab psu and try a palmer line isolation box in line between the two offending items.
  21. A lot of my sound comes from the way I fret notes on my left hand, I always press very hard I use a lot of string vibrato wether it be pressing the string hard against the back of the fret or pulling the bugger across the board and have a tendency to really bend a note up prior to fretting one higher. I also use a very hard to find pick, hi modulus graphite picks ( the ones with the little cannabis logo,s on them) the original factory burned down (apparently) in the late eighties and i went round all the guitar shops buying up all the 1.00mm thick ones, still have around thirty original unused ones for gigs and recording and I used the pick boy copies for rehearsal.
  22. Go for it man!! you never know you may find it,s the thing you always wanted... I learned to play on a ric copy and now I own the real thing it has convinced me that it,s the sound I,ve been trying for years to attain. If only they made a six string with an f#......
